Tom - I'm seriously looking into getting a Barge Concepts VFB-2 for blending, and for the feedback loop, so we'll see how the OD-20 is with it. It's just I'm a bit short of money at the moment - my Shuker is proving to be more of a cash-drain than I thought! If you still want it when I get round to sorting out my board again (whether I love it or hate it, I'm keeping it as it is for the time being), you can certainly have first dibs if I move it on, as you asked! It has a lot of scratches and stuff to it, so I wouldn't say it is perfect condition. But it still has the manual and box, all the knobs and it works perfectly well. Hell, it ain't gonna break, it says Boss on it ¬_¬
Cheers :)
I've used a VFB-2 and OD-20 together before, and although blending some clean signal in with the OD-20 certainly made it a lot more usable, I still didn't find the end result positive enough to justify keeping it on my board....

Its certainly worth getting a VFB-2 though, and if you haven't heard - they're bringing out a VFB junior, so it'll take up less space (albeit at the cost of the feedback loop)
Every body with a feedback loop needs a EHX Bassballs :) trust me on that
Heh, i've been using mine like this! I've taken the BB off my board 'cos I never use it in any songs, but through the feedback loop it's great! The best settings on my feedback loop are whammy into OC-2 into Zoom B2 (for a little OD and a step phaser with rate control on the exp pedal) into bass balls into wah probe into ibanez SS10. I get weird pitch shifting with the wah probe, and cool rythms from the phaser and bass balls working together.

I'd love the VFB to be smaller, but I wouldn't want to lose the feedback loop, I think that would lose some appeal for me. I'll make room. I have a big enough board - the problem is just arranging everything so it is accessible. More pedals need the in/outputs on the rear instead of the sides >.<

Would have loved your VFB Roady, but just missed out on it. I'm going to try out the OD-20 with blending, but I can imagine the results still won't be what I want, like you say.

Kev - thanks :) The Supercomp doesn't get much use to be honest. I used to use it as a kind of volume boost for tapping before I got the MicroAmp. Doing that, I get a fair bit more noise. I don't really use it anymore, but I keep meaning to give it another go - it's locked in our practice room most of the time, and I just forget at practices! ;) I'll get back to you about it if you want though, need to give it a bit of a fiddle

As for the feedback loop... With the VFB, I would want a lot of my pedals in the loop for the feedback, but I wouldn't want to blend the signals of all of them. Is there a way round that?
Yep, I got the MDF offcut cut to fit a flight case I have. You can see the base of it in this photo:

The only problem I have with it is that it's a little ungainly... the "lid" for it is much bigger than it needs to be, and the whole case has to be carried horizontally. I've already lost a fair bit of knuckle skin carrying it into our rehearsal space.

I'm toying with the idea of getting one of these and converting it into a pedal board case:

http://www.theelectronicsshop.co.uk/flight...howmaster48.htm

(The case that is, not the contents... works out at about £50)
I could be interested in that case if you replace it, my band needs something for our multi track and things.

Cheers
I've never seen the need for using effects when playing bass. As I have heard many bassists use them sparingly with taste, I've heard far more use them to cover up their short comings.
and then of course there are those who don't have the ability to use effects or use the ones they have effectivly :)
Like it or not, you've been using "effects" every time you plug into an amp. You should maybe try broadening your view, pedals can be inspiring, or just plain fun.

Get yourself a delay pedal and play around with it... You might find you enjoy it.
Now, now, you know what I meant. :)
If an fx pedal is used as an 'effect' it can really do wonders.

Playing with these sounds can really take your playing to places you normally dont go.

Thinking outside of the box sort of thing.

Taste is a subjective statement.

G
Sometimes thinking "outside the box", in a round world just doesn't cut it.
You do not like them.
So you say.
Try them! Try them!
And you may.
Try them and you may, I say.
Ahh green eggs and ham.....

I had a jet phase years ago....30?.....it was fun but I never had any desire to use/abuse effects/pedals. I play straight to the amp with as clean and full a tone as I can get. Guys, I not dogging effects, I just have never had any need for them.
