2. Any idea on the weight of this approx? Cheers
3. This isn't a vanity thing, I said I wasn't happy for them to use any materials I was featured and asked for it to be removed. I was told that it would be done but only when funds allowed. That's not my problem and I want the promo taken down. It's of little interest to me whether they're trying to replace it as quickly as possible. On whether to push it to be done or not, I'll judge that but I want to know if I can actually demand for the promo to be taken down and enforce it if I do. Then I can make my decision
4. Hello chaps and chappettes, wanted to pick your brains if you would be so kind as to humour me. Up until the beginning of Feb, I was playing bass in a band in addition to my regular covers band. The promotional media was put together very quickly and in a very professional way and within a couple of weeks we had a lot of bookings, which was very nice. There's a long story which isn't relevant here, but the band essentially became a victim of its own success and combined with the biggest load of BS and grasped excuses, I was asked to leave. This was initially quite disappointing but as I learn a few things about the personalities of those I have left behind I couldn't give a toss and am probably well out of it. As the band set up, a video was made, promo shots were taken and some recordings done. Do I have a legitimate objection to promo material (my bass playing on the recording, my image in stills and video) continuing to be used and if I do and request for it to be taken down as it is used without my permission, am able to enforce a request to remove it. And if anybody's wondering, yes I am doing it just to be difficult. I was properly upset at the news I was no longer required but am pretty well over it now. Cheers
5. Hi folks, looking for a bit of advice. A fella of my acquaintance has a Vox AC50 Bass - a separate AC50 head and a 1x18" cab. These were made between 61 and 63 and it looks to be all original. Can anybody hazard a guess what it might be worth in full working order? Ta J
6. Hello chaps, I've not been around for a very long time but last night I joined a band on the bass playing a borrowed Stingray. As much as I love Stingrays, I really want another P Bass having sold my last one when I left the last band I played bass in. So I'm after another P, preferably a USA but would consider a Japanese one if it was they kind of thing I was after (a 51 Jap RI would be ace actually - it's a rock and roll 3 piece) and the only real requirement is it is in good condition, in a case and absolutely unmodified. I would take an S1 Jazz at a push. I have to offer for trade a 2001 USA Stratocaster in fantastic condition - no dings, dints, scrapes, scratches or any discernible damage at all really. Untitled by jonnyguitar, on Flickr It's in a moulded hard case with a Fender strap. No fretwear, no buzzing, it's set up for me so you may want to make a change. For the forum rules, trade value is £550-600 and would like a straight trade by post or face to face near(ish) Leicester. And then when I've got another one, I'll come and talk bass again (although not on talkbass, on here - the best one!). Cheers
7. Spied the for sale thread for the 25db filters and thought I'd stick my spare pair of ER15 filters up - I bought these when I thought I lost a filter, ordered another pair (and yeah, they are nearly 70 quid delivered) and before they turned up, I found the missing filter on the floor in the back bedroom (after searching every room in the rehearsal studio, turned the car upside down and went through every pocket of every coat and every pair of trousers I own!). The company I bought them from wouldn't take them back in case they had been used - they haven't, and are still in the little packet they came in, stuck inside a Russion doll for safekeeping. Like the others, reflective of the new cost, I would like £40 for these, but I will include first class non-recorded postage - I'll get a proof of posting though. Payment by paypal gift or bank transfer (or you can send me a cheque if you really must!!). Cheers
8. As far as I understand (as a tester) it's not compulsory at all but if you are an employer you have a duty of care to your employees to make sure you provide them with safe equipment if they use it in conjuntion with their jobs, which is largely covered by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations and the Electricity At Work act. How that works with bands, I don't really know - I wouldn't say it's compulsory but a lot of venues will either request you're tested as part of their own procedure or as a requirement of their insurance policy. I have heard recently that Holiday Inn have been asking everybody (I had 4 DJs in one week who had Holiday Inn gigs) which suggests somebody might have had an accident or their insurer is requesting it or possibly there's been a change of management and the new bloke wants everybody who comes in to be tested. Some equipment doesn't actually need to be tested, subject to the type of equipment and the environment it's used in - Class 2 equipment (double insulated without an earth) used in offices and shops (by staff, not by members of the public) doesn't need to have a combined inspection and test (ie it doesn't have to be plugged into the machine). If you're taking your stuff out to venues week in, week out and have somebody who's not too careful with the cable, screws it up and chucks it in a case, I'd personally have it tested. If you check it regularly, take your plug tops off (if they're not moulded) and check for loose connections, your stuff is probably alright but for the sake of a few quid, it's worth having it checked once a year - of course I am biased
9. Anybody there?! I did send you a PM a few days before the last time you looked in here? If it's not available anymore, can you let me know please?
10. Is the sub still available please? Can you drop me a PM if so as I would be very interested?
11. Cheers DJ - I'd kind of made the decision to hold onto it as the pickups are so good, it makes it just about the best sounding electric guitar I've ever played. Alas, I played an AVRI 52 Tele up in Guitar Guitar in Newcastle on Monday and it was so good and so playable, I really want one and the G&L has to go on the block to fund it. Of course if anybody happens to have an AVRI 52 Tele they'd like to swap
12. Story is I thought I had lost a 15db filter out of my custom mould earplugs in November last year. Ordered a set of replacements from PJ Box at a cost of £54 and, just before the postman knocked on the door with the replacements, I found the missing filter on the floor in the back bedroom! I haven't used them but I was keeping them for spares. If anybody has a set of ER9 filters, unused of course, that they would like to trade for a pair of unused ER15s, please let me know! Cheers
13. If it's a solid colour, no sorry. If it's a sunburst then maybe, but not as a straight swap - with some cash, possibly. If you want to send me some pics by PM, that would be great, cheers.
14. Pics: More here I'll send you a PM about the Heritage.
15. Hello good people of BC! I have a G&L Asat Special in Butterscotch blonde/yellow with black hardware from 1987 (at least that's what I can work out from the serial #). It's a 3 bolt neck guitar, has an "Asat by Leo Fender" logo, the old-school U shaped string retainer and what I think is a single ply, anodised black aluminium pickguard (original of course!). Thin neck with rosewood fingerboard and I'm pretty sure an ash body too. The finish is nitro and is wearing off around the forearm position and along the back of the neck but there are no dents or dings to speak of and the wear is commensurate with regular use I reckon. I will take pics in the morning but I've been thinking of parting with this while I have been away for the last week - the tone is MEGA, does thicker and fatter and twangy much better than any Tele I've played. My preference is for a thicker neck to get my sausage fingers around and possibly going back to a set of humbuckers. The original case is included but has seen very many better days and is missing two catches and most of the underside through a lot of use. I've not used it since I've had it and had transferred the guitar to another case - the guitar will be sold with the original case. I would be looking for around £850 - I would consider a trade deal for a hard tail PRS (preferably a Mira or Starla or possibly a CU22), maybe some kind of Gibson (not an LP Studio, faded anything, Special anything or Melody Maker) or a USA Tele with a chunkier neck (but no solid colours). It works so well in the Mr Plow band, I am probably not doing the right thing by selling it, but I could do with something a bit more versatile for the covers outfit. If there are any builders out there that would be able to put together a custom guitar to a very strict specification and would take the G&L as payment, drop me a line also. Ta

17. Strat still available, needs a new home. Also have a beginner's set up comprising a Conrad Les Paul copy and a Peavey Rage practice amo thing that belongs to the brother-in-law. He no longer wants it and has asked me to sell. It's in EXCELLENT condition as he's barely taken it out of the gig bag and has no fret wear, some light pick scratches on the pick guard and that's about it. It's got a sort of dark burst top with a lot of flame in it - I guess this is a veneer rather than a cap like a proper Les Paul, but it looks nice. No idea where it's made as it doesn't have a country of origin or a serial number. I believe it came from Duck, Son and Pinker in Bath and is probably Korean or Chinese. The little Peavey is also in the original cardboard box (one for the collectors!! ) and would make a good starter kit or maybe even a backup guitar - who knows. I'll take some pics when I get home. price - £200? I think the guitar was £250 new and the amp about £75
18. Off to London on Thursday and am happy to jump on the tube and meet up with anybody that might be interested.
19.
I'd love some pics.
I'll see what I can do - I am going over to the auld fella's but not until Saturday so it'll be what - 10th April when I can stick some pics up. I don't know what the camera/internet situation is at the moment without me taking my kit.
20. Just met up with Robbie to do a deal on my Precision. Great guy to do business with and BCers can deal with confidence. Cheers Robbie, enjoy the bass.
