1. BB drop me a PM when you get a chance and I'll send you over the info.
2.
Well ....I went on the site to place my order and realised MM are only 3 miles from where I work so I collected mine this afternoon and saved a bit on the postage. Decent bunch of lads too. Can't wait to gig on a boomy hollow stage now
You mean you got EVEN more discount? What side of the Pennines do you live on again? (I'M JOKING!!!)
3. Good stuff - if anybody else is interested in one, the prices are pretty good - if you want to know more, drop me a PM. I wasn't aware that Bass Direct sold these things and had already approached the company that I bought mine from, who have given me a couple of great prices on GRAMMA and Great GRAMMA that they will stick to until the end of Feb.
4. Everybody on the list in the first post should have had an email from me now. Cheers!
5.
Can he do that?
Be interesting to find out whether ebay would pull it for something as daft as saying that he wouldn't take Paypal or leave it on on the offchance that he sells it and they want a cut of the fees - although if it's an auction listing it's a max final value fee of £40 isn't it? Shame that a guitar like this is kept in a safe at a gun dealer and not still be played and loved.
6. I know not a bassists wanted, but I am looking for a regular dep guitarist/singer to fill in either for me or our James in the even that we have a gig that one of us can't do - this would be for weddings or functions, I wouldn't have thought a dep would be interested in lower paid gigs, but hey - if you are, more power and all that! You (or the person you know) must have good gear (top-brand stuff is not important if it works and you know how to use it), own transport and be able to play and ideally sing songs including Mustang Sally (I know I know...), Johnny B Goode, Parklife, Take Me Out, Chelsea Dagger, Sweet Home Alabama and that sort of thing. Not predominantly a lead guitar role but it helps if you (or the person you know) knows their way around a fingerboard. There isn't loads and loads of work, but there are a couple of gigs I know we need a dep for (11th June and 31st of July) and I have turned down the odd gig because I know either me or James can't do it - which possibly means more work for the band. Anyway, if you (or somebody you know) is up for it, please let me know. Leicestershire based is ideal from the point of view of being able to get to practices and travel to gigs, etc. but to be honest I don't care where you come from as long as you're prepared to travel and don't expect extra money for doing so!! Cheers!
7. I think the laptop is needed to split the click from the backing track. I'd be keen to understand how to do this too as it's something I'm interested in looking at. I think it can be done with two mixers as well, but I'd have to sit down and work it out with a pencil!
8. Any point in me carrying on with this now OG and Mark at Bass Direct have stepped in?
9.
Just a quick question. I'm wondering how this would work regarding shipping? Whether the company will ship to individual purchasers (which would entail separate packaging of course) or possibly more likely, if they're discounting the product, send as one bulk order to a single address. Pads would obviously then need to be re-posted to individual buyers. Just wondering on the logistics etc of this. Sorry if I'm missing something here, but just wanted to check anyway...
The price I paid for mine was a shipped price and was shipped in the Gramma's box with a FedEx label slapped on it. I have asked for a discount price based on shipping to the individual buyers and I would be hoping for a saving on the price I paid. The other thing to mention is that I bought a GRAMMA for use with a TE 1x15 combo - the dimensions of the GRAMMA are slightly smaller than the TE combo (GRAMMA - 23", TE Combo - 24.2") but the feet on the TE were spaced 21" apart so fitted onto the pad almost perfectly.
10. Probably the standard one - but if you want a Great GRAMMA, please post - they are more expensive so I don't know what will happen with those.
11. Just a note to say I've contacted the company I bought mine from (who appeared to be the cheapest at the start of last week) to see if they will offer a discount - in the meantime if you can let me know if you want one, it may help negotiating a bigger discount.
12. Alright then, anybody who wants to buy one, register your interest on this thread or send me a PM! Deadline of Friday this week?
13. If there is enough interest, would it be worth trying to get a group buy together for a bit of discount?
14.
..thinking about it, how squishy are these? Would a couple of 2x10s stacked end-on-end with a lead sled head on top be as stable as it would be on the floor?
IIRC the spec sheet says they will support upto 300lbs. I don't weigh 300lbs but I know I am heavier than a big 115 combo - I stood on the pad and coulnd't compress the foam to the floor. I would't be too concerned about sticking 2 210s on it.
15.
That does it....
You won't regret it Al. I am seriously considering another two to put the guitar amps on. Mine was alright as I had it on a stand, but the other lad's was on my pedalboard lid and had a few 'issues' shall we say?!
16. GROUP BUY - I'll add a list of who wants one to the bottom of this post so I can keep track of it! I know this topic has been covered over and over again but by God, what a simple yet very effective bit of kit. I ordered one last week for use by the bassist in the band I play guitar in - we have had a lot of problems at one particular venue that has a 4" high stage that just seems to suck bass into it and then boom and feedback with every note played below a certain frequency. This is picked up by the vocal mics and then pushed through the PA and monitors and it was just turning into a nightmare - I had read a lot about GRAMMA pads on here and thought I should try one. We tried the pad at practice (carpeted, stone floor) and noticed a difference even there, but when we took it to the gig, all the bass booming and feedback problems were completely eliminated. There was no more feedback, no more booming noise, the bottom end was much much tighter - the bass sounded great with the amp set completely flat and didn't seem to need to be pushed as hard. I think it actually improved the overall sound of the band too and I am so happy I bought one. I got it from a shop seller on ebay who was offering free delivery and I think it cost me £43. I could have probably bought a bit of 15mm ply, a bit of Platfoam and some Maplin carpet for half that price, but I would have had to go and buy all the tools to put it together and it just wasn't worth it - I'd actually have paid double for one if I had known it was going to make such a difference. Anybody who is thinking of buying one should get one now - a must have I reckon! 17. Withdrawn - highly unlikely I will be buying the black G&L now so I will be hanging onto this.
18. Hello folks, haven't played any bass for about 3 months, have this sort of strange desire to join an indie covers band - Arctic Monkeys, Enemy, Young Knives, KoL, Oasis, etc. If you hear of a band in the Leicester(shire(ish)) area playing that sort of stuff and are gigging, then point me in their direction. I have got good gear and my own car, but they've got to be gigging - I'm not thinking of money, but I can play this stuff at home along with the CD, so I'd want to be out playing this sort of stuff. Ta
19. Yeah I think they get an unpaid item strike (I don't really know what that means!), but as long as I can recoup the £40 final value fee (and I can) then I suppose it's not too bad.
20. Right - got frigged about by the auction winner who now doesn't want it So it's still for sale on here and back on a buy it now on ebay.
21. Cheers guys - Chris I meant to say, I dropped you a PM earlier with my contact details. Ta
22. That's pretty much what they told me - Foxtrot Oscar. I stuck a Hartke driver in mine.
23.
I have a Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5... it works for me and the inlays look the dogs if you ike that kind of thing. Good VFM even if I did have to import if from Texas. I have found that the strings on an acoustic make a huge difference. Good ones make the bass sound great but bad ones can give you a really duff tone - more marked IME than with a pure electric. The Thomastic-Infeld are my favourites, but a bit fragile and effing expensive. P
My dad's got a Michael Kelly Dragonfly fretless 5 and thinks it's very nice. Although the next bass on his list is a fretless Godin A5.
24. If you can't be bothered, leave and find a new band - I know that might sound a bit hard but I think that's what you've got to do. I was in a band I didn't like until I made the decision to walk.
