Rawwrrr!

My band is called Veils.

www.myspace.com/veilsband

We are a 5 piece tech metal band from Manchester with a few twinges of death metal and a bit of an old skool vibe thrown in for good measure!

Here is a live review by Sonic Dice of our first ever show supporting As I Lay Dying

VEILS W/ AS I LAY DYING - CAMBRIDGE BARFLY 24/05/2008

Veils are first-up and are immediately confronted with a venue that's at capacity. Seems the world and his wife want to hang around for this Manchester quartet of metal-heads and they are duly rewarded. They play rapid, death metal with elements of thrash and hardcore thrown in for good measure and have quite an impact as a mosh kicks off instantaneously. A few idiots start running across the circle pit before launching themselves into any unsuspecting crowd members - inadvisable in such a tight venue - it's not long before a bouncer moves in to stop a punch-up breaking out. The lead vocalist is keen for more and he looms over the barrier with one hand on the low roof, supporting himself, screaming encouragement. "I want to see more of this dancing. It's f***ing mint!", he yells, before proudly announcing new track 'A Resistance To Exist'. It's like listening to the end of the world - a mixture of booming double-kick, cascading tom rolls, tightly-coiled guitars and brutal, roared vocals. They pause to launch a few CDs into the crowd before assaulting us again.

There are a couple of tracks up on the myspace, hopefully our EP will be out soon depending on current negotiations........
Dude I love your band! Amazing sound!! You should come down to Bristol and play a gig! Would be intense !!

haha where do i begin?

black rain - no website as far as i know, but hey, im just the bass player! covers band, play sort of guns n roses, ac/dc, stone roses, bon jovi etc.

in progress - oh dear. if theres an easy way to tell a mate that his band (that you play guitar for) absolutely sucks and you want to leave, someone tell me. (i play guitar in this band)

band-without-a-name-yet-and-i've-only-just-set-up - errr... that pretty much sums it up. mate said he was looking for a band, and i said my brothers a drummer i play guitar if you wanna start a band. weve decided on two songs to learn and we're gonna have a practice pretty soon. (i play guitar in this band)

blank canvas - my main gigging band. theres no real way to describe what music we play. we're a three piece and we only do originials (actually, i lie, we play basket case cos every one loves basket case) and we started off sort of fairly heavy, but now we're moving more punkish, we do a couple of acoustic songs, some of our songs are slow, some are fast and we dont even have a proper singer (we all just chip in when we feel like it really).
blank canvas are also (as far as i know) my only band with a myspace, so here it is www.myspace.com/theblankcanvasband check us out and add us if you like us!

am i the only one in more than one band?
Hi everyone,

This may have been done before on here, but wanted to start a thread where everyone who is in a band can put up their web address or myspace so others can have a gander... ;o)

Write a bit about your band and the website address!

I'll start...

The band is called 'Hope Remains Lost', we are from Bristol and we play Rock/Metal stuff.

Our myspace address is: www.myspace.com/hoperemainslost

Check us out! :))

Now your turn...

Iam in a band called Kamagra based in Leicester doing rock cover around the pubs and also a blues (John Mayer, Robert Cray) type band which is just starting out
Actually my main fave music is old style disco/Pfunk or at least pop but at least i am out playing and enjoying every minute
Been in original bands for 25 years so this is a bit of a change

You tell him that you're overstretched with four bands on the go and you have to leave one, and that you'll make the sacrifice of leaving his band because you're holding him back musically.

Time to step up to the mark.....

This is my band, The Idle Hands Trio: http://www.myspace.com/idlehandstrio.

As you can see from the photo, we are primarily a functions band but play the odd pub to some indifference from the punters!

We are currently beefing (not a ref. to you know who) up the set with more soul and dancier numbers (lady marmalade, you might need somebody, you can't hurry love) because we are all going through a souly phase.
We have a quasi jazz set too (fly me to the moon, let there be love etc) which must annoy all the purists out there!
We also populate the set with whatever is current that we like (Mercy etc).

We are called Idle Hands due to rehearsing for some time in a cricket club tearoom in a district in Bradford called Idle, home of the actual Idle Working Mens Club.

We'd like a drummer but that means everything gets louder on stage to compensate and you need more space too!
Argonaut - metal/rock band from South Wales

Our 11 track debut album is available for anyone interested (£5)

Mixed by Alex Newport (Taint, ATDI, Mars Volta, Melvins, Sepultura, Fudgetunnel) and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Battles)

www.myspace.com/argonautofsouthwales
Not sure if anyone's checked this band out yet but I bought their album a while ago. All I can say that it is the f***ing dog's knackers. How they aren't bigger than they already are is beyond me. Very well produced and some great tunes. Singer has got an exceptional voice and the lyrics actually mean something.

Highly recommended!

Eh....

My main gig is 5CATFish (yes that is the official type font for the band.... don't ask!) which is a function unit that specialises in high end Weddings and Corporate. We charge a fortune and manage to get away with it! ;o)

We have some world class players in the band (not me I'm poo) such as the ridiculous Craig Blundel and Pete 'Woody' Wood!

I'm also involved in a few other projects such as a disco/funk covers act and also work on some hedKandi stuff too.

Wag The Dog, we're a three piece doing punk, indie, and ska type covers around Guildford in Surrey. Lots of parties, a few pubs and the odd wedding. Crap name, but we're pretty tight with loads of energy. Frontman's a cheeky chappy too - good with the banter. Been going nearly two years and is a good laugh.
I think I have heard of you guys being from Surrey. Have you been going for some time?
