It will look the business... every thing that comes out of the workshop does..

The colours, patterns and tones are subjective, the quality is not... It is always a work of art.. IME
I hope so - and having just spoken to Martin today he assures me the body now looks "really sweet" after its trip to the polishers - he's been routing the pickups and the neck join has also been done - pending the electronics being installed the bass is almost finished - I'm going to have a look tomorrow - but NO pics till she's finished - sorry folks.

Sorry man I know - but HOT DAMN I've just seen and played this bass (acoustically) and it looks and feels amazing, the top wood looks sick! Hopefully collect it next week possibly the one after...

OK, I know, I'm rubbish, just pathetic.... I just couldn't resist putting up this one pic of the bass as it was yesterday when I popped in - Martin said he could probably finish it this week but hey it's so close now I don't want him to rush it. There's going to be a ramp made from a lovely bit of bubinga between the pups and the knobs will be black metal ones... the bass is so lightweight and the neck feels amazing - obviously I haven't heard it plugged in yet but it felt great to play and it wasn't even set up...

Anyway she really is a beauty - the cool thing as well is that the 24 fret neck doesn't look too long because of the way Martin has put it further into the body, and it really does look soooo much nicer in the flesh - I can honestly say it's come out exactly as I wanted it.

OK - shoot me now!

I'll obviously post better pics and a full report on delivery.

Cheers

Nice. It almost looks like stone! Another work of art from MP. As for the black knobs, it's screaming out for black Hipshot O-rings!

<checks pennies - how much do I need a Sei...?>

I certainy has a 'marble' effect when you look up close, a polished stone no less :) - not sure what make the knobs will be but it does have a Hipshot de-tuner on the E string - I love drop D! and it's also got V shaped tuning pegs - I'm not a fan of the Butterfly ones.

Anyway - not long now - I really couldn't be happier with it - I just can't wait to hear what the Glokenklang circuit sounds like...

I'm looking forward to the final result, but the current image confirms what I've thought for a long time. In terms of aesthetics - and on many other counts - Martin is producing the finest basses to come out of the UK at the moment (IMO)

Yes, you weak pathetic fool. But I would have done exactly the same

I'll have 5 string version, lacewood top, strung thru the body. Sigh :)

OK - she's done!

I called Alex earlier today and asked if the bass might be ready for Friday... well he emailed back about an hour later with the news it would be ready today... sooooo, turns out I finished work at 5pm, pegged up to Camden and back and beat the bloody tube strike and here she is... my absolutely stuning Sei Jazz - it's pretty much exactly as I envisioned it - but so lovely to play, sounds huge, and looks, well, you tell me

Enough talk already - I'll do a full bass porn thing when I get a chance to take some better pics - the ramp is made of a lovely pice of flamed bubinga by the way...

Yes, I'm a happy bass bunny tonight :)
Nice.

We need a full body to headstock shot though! I didn't appreciate the spalting in the body til the close up shots!

Bet you haven't got any sleep! Hows the preamp working out then? Good choice?
I slept fine actually - I was exhausted after too much work and running around London to collect this baby!

The circuit is really really nice too - I've only blastd it in the shop so far and the old Jazz slap tone is immense - the fingerstyle mode is lovely too - had a good play on it this morning and it feels great to have a four banger again! And what a four banger she is... that top is just well, stunning. It's a very lightweight instrument as well - really comfortable to play.

better pics and vids to come in due course - I will do full length shots as soon as the lighting permits - it's a very compact bass as it goes.

I know - it's odd. After playing 5s for ages, to swap back to a 4 - it's great fun. Zipping around all the neck which of course you don't have to do as much on a 5. Great fun... and of course, slap on a 4... different kettle of fish...

Nice one dude - its certainly a nice bit of kit.

I've totally noticed that too jumping between 6 and 4 strings, the 4 string just feels like a toy, loads of fun to play
One of the best I've seen on here for a while IMHO, the headstock is a piece of art all by itself. I'll be lurking in the recording thread waiting for a vid or two!
It really is a lovely, lovely bass - and typically Martin and John aren't resting on their laurels - among their forthcoming beasts is a *get this* 7 string thru-neck Jazz with that 'other' spalted maple top wood (the blond coloured type, with dark natural strips running through it) - oh and a monstrous, chambered-body nine-string thing... plus a whole load of single cuts with the same spalted top wood as my Jazz... I love those guys :)

Clips and stuff coming in a week or two - I'm planning to gig this beauty with my funk band a week Friday - I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for all the nice words chaps - this bass is even nicer in the flesh - a real stunner in all departments.
