I understand Bravewood have an excellent reputation.
Correct, and Bravewood produce some lovely basses.

But Limelight basses are quite a bit more affordable, as far as I can make out. That's at least part of their appeal for the cash-strapped GAS-sufferer. ;)

Bravewood are totally handmade.

They are. I'm not saying they're not worth it, I'm saying that Limelight are more affordable. :)

They do. I probably would have a Bravewood or a Nash by now had I prioritised the purchase of either a bit more.
Limelight are a great combination of tone, playability, build, components, style and value.
Plus MMR is a great bloke, which is a unique selling point in itself. :)

I'd take a limelight over a Nash anyday. I saw a load of Nash gear in London and I really didn't like the relicing on most of them.
They photograph well. :D
I did see a couple of threads on TB and elsewhere dissing Nash quality of components and build, but not having seen one in the flesh I can't comment.
Enough of them are owned by celeb players, but of course that doesn't mean much. :)

I've not played any Nash guitars or basses so I can't comment on the parts quality. But just looking at the paintwork made me not want to pick them up. I'm sure some are great, but they're not for me.
But I'm not really into relics as such. My Bravewood P bass is a replica of Sting's #1 bass, so it's reliced to look like Sting's as much as possible. My wife's Bravewood P bass was built un-reliced.
What's nice about a relic is another ding doesn't spoil the look of a pristine instrument. I know some people are very fussy about thinga like that. I'm not though. I gig all my gear and if it gets dinged etc, so be it.

Mrs MTB told me the other day that our pet cocker had got into the spare bedroom that houses my Limelight, in all it's relicness, on a stand (so I can admire from afar/have a quick noodle), and had a chew on on it. She let me inspect it for a good 5 minutes trying to distinguish chew marks from relicing before cracking up.

Just got in from a strange Monday night wedding gig...bizarre on a school night. Anyhow second time this weekend my 70's Limelight P has been out and I absolutely love it, changed the pick up though to a wizard trad, the original was ok but I just think the wizard trad has the edge a bit. Anyhow... I love my Limelight and should do a NBD although I've had it for around a month or so :)...can't believe I'm enjoying a Precision as well...ahem ;)

I think limelights look fantastic, and I would personally choose one over a Nash- because they appear to be far better value for money. Some of the threads I have read on Nash basses have worried me considering the premium they charge. Plus I think the limelight gear looks far better! :)

I feel a major attack of the GAS coming on…. so I have a couple questions:

I understand that this was a custom build, but can you spec neck dimensions and radius? Or is it a case of maple or rosewood/ jazz or precision?

Can you spec body woods? And how heavy do they come in?

I'm thinking a P bass in Daphne blue over Oly white with maple board- OR a lightly relic'ed, limelighted version of this:

Oh dear lord- the GAS is tooooo strong….

I guess specs are fairly limited to help Mark bring them in at the superb prices he does.
Any response I made would be based on my limited knowledge.
Just mail Mark on his website linked in post #68 and he will yay or nay to your specs.
Good luck and enjoy.
Now go away you butch Precision people

The necks are Allparts and as standard come with 10" radius and a C profile. The bodies are Alder. The J Bass I played (Discreets) was what I would describe as medium weight, between 8lbs and 9lbs
