I've got two Squiers so I'm halfway to a Fender...
Ive got three Squiers and as well as being quids in i feel im past Fender quality now :-)

I dont get the Fender bashing on here. I thought we are above all that. If more people use them it stands to reason they get mentioned more.
Seeing as the first post has been changed (same time the dummy was throuwn out by the looks of it) i have no idea what this thread is about, but it seems to involve a few digs at Fender.

Quite childish really.

+1... well said Sir!
IMHO Fender are to instruments what Ford Motors are to cars. They're reasonably priced, middle-of-the-road instruments that deliver fair value for money. To me they're not exciting in terms of style, but each to their own.

Back on to the main topic... If the "bass for sale" sections were divided by value or Fender/nonFender, it would be interesting for the mods to see which sections get visits and which don't. This would give them a better view of the readership demographic.

I don't know what the mods would make of the info, or what use it would be. But I suspect that cheap basses, on the whole, don't sell here.

If we had a general agreement that people put the price range in their posts, then we could sort by price already.

E.g. someone selling a Squier Affinity p-bass for £510 could put "£5XX" in the body of their post. Anyone wanting to search for basses in the £500-600 range could do a basses for sale search on £5XX. We could make the ranges include thousands, e.g. £1XXX £2XXX.

If the seller of the Squier Affinity p-bass dropped their price to £250, then they'd edit their post to include £2XX instead of £5XX. On dropping it to £50, they'd edit the search term to be £XX.

If these key terms were decided by the moderation team for basses for sale, and mentioned in the advice for listings, then a number of sellers (most? all?) would use them, and simple searches would show up basses in a buyer's intended price range.

And there would be no rewriting of the website software needed at all.

Wouldn't '£5nn' be more appropriate for numbers..? Or maybe '£5??'..?
Agreed... The missus is already suspicious about Basschat thanks to the 'porn' threads and threads that induce GAS. I don't need 'XXX' searches in the mix too!!

:D

But, returning to the topic, any agreed and half-way sensible format would do.

I think it's the standard basschat member progression. We start off talking on topic and being reasonable. We proceed to going way off topic even from post two in a thread and lose all claim to reasonbleness. Then we get to stage three where we still go immediately way off topic and have no claim to reasonableness, but believe that we are staying on topic and being reasonable.

@artisan - you own something called an "Innovation Golden Slap"???? Off to google that. Edit: Oh, they're strings.

The only Fender instrument I own is a Banjo. So now where do I stand??

In a field with a bit of grass stuck between your teeth by the sound of it.

It only works properly if you are in a rocking chair, drinking moonshine, and have less teeth than banjo strings.

Yes! You bought a Pro Series instrument, and that is what this thread was about (if that has already been identified I apologise, did not read the whole thread). Thomann have slashed all their PS prices, some real bargains. Congrats :)

And Fender? Who are they?

Something along these lines would be an excellent idea I think. Without the XXX in case of sensitivities.
