I'd have to say the worst Beatles cover I've ever heard is that bloody awful version of "a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker.
Absolutely f***ing atrocious.

Interesting responses and I've got to say I agree all of them, particularly the Joe Cocker one!!
Love the singing dogs though........classic!

Alternatively, I've always preferred the "original" versions of the songs (and there are so many) that Lennon & McCartney just "gave away" such as The Rolling Stones version of "I Wanna Be Your Man"; (gosh, I'm showing my age) :D
Sadly though, it's not just Beatles tunes that are sometimes crucified, many modern classics are butchered too, but as I said at the start, I just thought it would be a subjective but interesting topic.

I've never heard that before. That really is dire and at the same time hilarious. Fabulously awful!!!

I'll be honest with you, I just googled "worst Beatles cover" and this was pretty much at the top of the pile. I didn't even listen to all of it, I just linked it on here and ran! :P

Is this even open to opinion? I thought the question was settled a while back . . . .

IMO not only is that a great cover, but it's probably the best thing that Cockney Rebel ever released.

I'm with the Count. One of the best covers ever for me. I usually prefer the originals (with the exception of most Dylan songs that have been re-done) but I think the Cocker version is better than the fab four. Wet Wet Wet on the other hand did nothing extra with the song at all and it makes for a truly lacklutre cover as a result.

If I had to offer an example of "feeling" in music, that would be my choice. It's brilliant.

Oh well, there you go then.
It's the polar opposite of "feeling" to me, just a lot of cringingly overblown histrionics from start to finish.
