Total Watts

1. 3 small amps and pa / powered speaker for vocals. Mine is a little TC head
2. I get your points about the genny being chucked on the truck with a jump lead connecting it to the chassis as an earth, but it will be done properly if it could be someone gets fried! You've given me some ideas of who to speak to now, know some decent sparkies and auto electricians so will fire some questions at them, original question was just to see if anyone had done it in the past with success :-)
3. Cheers guys. So generator is ok as long as earthed (bonded to truck), and if anything stops working, get the drummer to touch it before you do. Sorted
4. I do actually have a wireless kit, never thought of that!
5. @Amnesia, Going on your theory (to get it right in my head!) would we be better playing on a wooden bed truck, or a metal bed?
6. There must be a 'safeish' way of doing it, as it's been done by plenty in the past. The other thing i was thinking of was a sinewave inverter, but not sure what size it would need to be to run 3 amps and a PA, and whether there would still be the same earthing issues. Liking the iPod idea although don't quite think it would cut it!
7. Just been looking at an american sparky forum, and it seems that being a generator the current would find it's way back to the generator (the source of the circuit) and pop the breaker rather than trying to go to earth.
8. Wonder if anyone can offer advice on this. Been asked to play on the back of a moving flatbed truck at our local carnival. Seen it done plenty of times before off a generator, but just wondering how things like earthing work?!
9. Thanks guys, I'm now brimming with confidence
10. Noted, Thanks Dad! I think we'll get one rehearsal in beforehand which i'll probably record, so will at least have some sort of idea what the pair of musicians are going to throw at this welder !
11. I've asked her to send across some youtube links of versions of songs she wants to do. So far Summertime and Fever I'll be able to nail ok, and guess listening to them will give me some sort of 'feel' for it. Liking the keep it simple idea
12. Hi guys, After a bit of advice (song examples etc) on 'loosely' learning jazz......... bit vague I know, but read on and you'll get what I mean! Every year, my local has a charity gig and gets 6 or so bands to play. Generally all we get is your bog standard covers bands, which gets a bit tedious when most of the set lists are the same! One of my wife's friends wants to do something this year, she's quite an accomplished Jazz singer but because of babies / kids hasn't done anything for a couple of years. She's got a keyboard player who is apparently sh*t hot, but needs a bassist. Guess who's been roped in to the role........! As my background is mainly rock / punk, how do I get my head round some 'acceptable' jazz playing?! She has said she will keep it simple by doing Ella Fitzgerald - summertime, and Fever (whoever did that one!) sort of stuff, which I think I can blag ok after listening on youtube, but is there any other advice, tips, songs you'd recommend to listen to? My view of jazz currently is something like: https://www.youtube....Hpik&feature=kp
13.
Measured where though?
exactly! not specified 'where' !
14. i'm doing a website for my local sports club, and done a bit of googling to find info on it, and come across their licence on the council website. They have a band there couple of times a month, and on the licence it states a 60dbA limit on any 'functions'. i think i have done farts louder than that
