What a great Boxing Day read - I've had to add him on a watch list for a future cheer me up aid. Scary in terms of what he does and yet I feel no sorrow for any bugger who gets sucked in, even this time of year. He has a great selling strategy which obviously works as I now want to buy the experience of being bullshitted just to see what his miracle pro-doingsy-upperage of guitars is all about in that pay-for-pain kind of way. The fact that he looks like a mouse that's gone through surgery adds that air of mystique to the transaction; is he a misinterpreted genius or is he just a man that looks like a mouse with an unfortunate array of undiagnosed personality disorders? Maybe we shall never know, only someone with money to burn that lives in East Sussex area will find out - I only hope that someone on here will buy a 'gem' and write a review to find out...

Alarmingly, he 'bought' this for £71.00:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Precision-Jazz-Bass-PJ-Style-Electric-Bass-/181026754614?nma=true&si=iuKej0XsFvNcPX638edWnImIdlM%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

...did his business on it and has it up for sale for £198.00 here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/J-Bass-a-dual-tone-pickup-type-J-bass-in-metalic-blue-/190775365513?

The guy has more front than Brighton. And I should know. I've thrown up on it.

This is not unusual to see on auction sites. Plenty of people do exactly the same thing.

Having something up for sale and selling something are two different things.

This is also for sale, cheaper and far more likely to be selling: http://www.dv247.com/guitars/squier-jazz-bass-guitar-black-rosewood--40732

I actually had one of those Crafters, and sold it last Christmas for £75,which was very fair. It was in excellent nick - barely a mark, and certainly didn't have the tuners angled - which frankly looks fu*king ridiculous. This guy has basically butchered a £75 bass, and wants to sell it for £137!

Perhaps we should all chip in £3 and collectively buy one of these abominations - if only so we can ensure someone who knows something about instruments gets the chance to give some feedback - which I suspect would be negative. Or maybe he's a misunderstood genius?

I love the felt tip artistry on the headstock of this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mark-Knopfler-styled-classic-USA-electric-guitar-/190765753716?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c6a866574
and the fact he's using photos of 2 different guitars on this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hohner-Paul-LX250G-with-custom-pups-/190768375905?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c6aae6861

Can't help but think someone off BC asked the questions on this relisted guitar http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-wide-necked-Jackson-electric-for-guys-with-seriously-big-hands-/190764221223?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c6a6f0327 ;)

No clue on the PJ Bass why he replaced the stock black rear pickup with a white one.....
I think that it's something he does automatically. If he has two Basses in with two pick-ups each, he will swap one over. I think he thinks that it makes it look as though he's done something and if he's gone to the trouble it must be an improvement, right?

Yes, the one he took off will turn up on a 7 string guitar or something: let's look out for it!

Putting my Detective NancyJohnson hat on, if you look at some of his past eBay purchases, he bought a Jazz bass pickup cover (or possibly more than one). I suspect he's probably just changed the cover.

I think its more giving it the modified look, as if the white pup has been installed in place of the original due to it happening to create magical combination with this particular guitar.

Amazingly, someone (apparently) bought this mess;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kay-P-bass-thought-perhaps-1968-with-ebony-fingerboard-/190759708552?nma=true&si=POeFpyban8dy%2FojB0rz%2BRLsTK7s%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

If he's actually selling them, albeit slowly (market is definitely slow at the moment) his project is working. Can't be making much on each but must be satisfying.

I saw one of his earlier ads a few years ago, he was actually really straight forward back then.
He simply said some thing like, "I bought this ElCrappo bass new off eBay, I've given it a full setup so it plays nice, and I'm selling it on for a few pounds more to cover my costs."
Fair enough right? A cheap bass that plays OK and for less than £150.
Even I was almost tempted, were it not for the fact I can do a pretty good setup myself.

These days he seems to be getting more ridiculous with the sales pitch for each ad. Its obviously working for him. And he seems to be buying knackered old Korean crap and making out that they are exactly like a "1962 Fender Gibson Rickenbacker Jazz Precision Grabber 4001- as played by Mark Knopfler from the Beatles" after he has finished with all his beeswax. Idiot.

I for one hope he continues his adverts because personally he makes me feel talented in life.

It's a source of free entertainment & comedy

+the 1

Though if he's just changing pickup covers and writing short and dull descriptions, I will be sad.....

I suppose people have been doing it to cars for years.

Clearly the magic is in his clear thinking, after all, these so-called luthiers and, worst of all, factories, clearly have missed a few tricks in their production of millions of guitars over the decades. When you look at the factory tour videos and see how many processes and different people are involved to produce a guitar, and yet they don't know about nut heights yet, it is amazing. Only our hero has managed to spot that one.

It won't be long before you see Musicman rotating the machine heads to a clearly more comfortable angle facing the player.
