Love my genz head and is no different in quality and sound from the Italian made markbass stuff I was using before. What a shame, although I might be able to get a shuttle 9.0 for a bargain now.

If you had to make do with one bass - which would it be?
Prime_BASS replied to Black Coffee's topic in Bass Guitars
Basses that can do it all? Stingray, and it's derivatives. Just capable of doing all sounds with simple playing technique changes and me little EQ variance. For me I love playing J type basses at the minute, smashing it over the bridge pickup with the neck rolled off to get rid of the pure scoop sound. Dirty sound!. I will buy my old Stingray back though. -
Yamaha BJ5B. 5.7kg (12.5lbs)
Im sure i tried this at the bass bash ages ago. Can't forget that weight.

Obviously you wasn't talking loud enough to her then. Try some verbal abuse next time, that really gets a girls attention.

Had a phone call today as eBay hate privacy laws and give out your number Willy nilly. Anyway, seller seemed anxious about the whole thing and claimed he was selling it for a friend, who came by and took it back. (in sure that's against eBay regs Sewell) Anyway, a shame I didn't get it as it was a cracking price for a bass I've wanted or a while but greed is king these days and people want more than what they deserve. Im not going to bother myself with this any further, on to the next one.

Out the factory neck shims: Are they common?
Prime_BASS replied to MisterFingers's topic in Bass Guitars
I found that an old sterling I had had a shim but later models don't. And obviously fenders micro-tilt system is just a fancy shim. -
I tried one, and opted for the LM3 in the end as it suited the MB cab I was using at the time better. Ironically with the BF compact I'm now using I suspect it's brightness would be a better fit. In short make sure you consider the cab(s) as well.
I found my LMTube to sound exactly like the GB. Had my shuttle for a while now, never missed a beat and small enough to fit in my gig bags picket which is nice. Power feels nice ans responsive, although I've been in a few venues and with some cabs I feel it runs low on juice, but it's not lacked in volume really. Having more on tap puts your mind at ease. The headphone out and auxiliary ins are nice features but the headphone out sound quality is a bit dire, so always use my Tascam. Not sure what the DI is like, but not being able to set the line out level is a draw back that I didn't have with the mark bass. Overall, a good quality amp. If I could get the features of the MB in this size and power then I'd go for that though.

Contacted eBay through all means I can. I'm not sure if he ended it early as it was a few hours after I last looked at it and it was due to end before I finished work. Anyway I got a message from eBay saying I won and needed to pay etc although no point since he won't sell it me anyway. I'm bothered but not that bothered. I've ended stuff early, but not sure how he has done it. As when I have no one has been a winner, maybe because it had less than 24 hours to the end time, which I believe eBay put on to stop people doing exactly this. If I pay for it, which I still can. Will he not loose out, ebay fees and PayPal fees to pay along with having to give me back the full amount?

Always try to do so, but in mainly on my phone and it's a pain in the arse on mobile mode.
Wonder if there could be a win/win available offering a little more and going easy on him?
Maybe, but as some one said above, it ended as it ended. The reason it didn't go for very much was the fact he was reluctant to post it abd his shoddy camera work and odd description. If it was a roadworn series bass, I would have lost out in the end, especially as I was willing to pay more. But not now he has tried to be sly about it.

It was me boys and girls. I too assumed it was a RW, from the tuners and checking. Either way I was after a jazz for a project or backup anyway. Unfortunatly the seller sent me a message stating he forgot to put a buy it now price on it, and is no longer for sale. My guess someone has offered him a lot more than what it finished on, or he wanted more than what it went for. Something doesn't smell quiet right so I'll be contacting eBay with this.
With a new Cog 66 and a complete re-route (with help from: http://sheponbass.co...e-to-start.html) I thought I'd better post a pic. Chain is: Polytune mini > LS2 Send B > OC2 > MicroPog > Bass Big Muff > Cog 66 > 3Leaf GR2 > MF LPF (with Roland EV5 controlling the Cutoff) > Frequency Analyzer > CE2B > Carbon Copy > Return B LS2 > Ditto LS2 loop A goes straight back into the return - giving me a clean signal to blend with the effected chain. It's on a Swann board with a raised platform hiding all the power gubbins.
I don't think you need the patch cable between the send and return on the A channel, it should just control a clean volume without, as far as I know. though about a big ole bass boost and or a comp in the clean channel, helps separate the dirt and stuff from the clean side of stuff I find.

There are 3 12 volt rails, I'm only using 1.
That power brick must get very warm, mine has warped walls and furniture in its life.

Gentle grit rather than distortion...Recommend me a pedal?
Prime_BASS replied to Jigster's topic in Effects
I should also say that I'm a massive fan of the Xotic Bass BB Pre, excellent pedal with a ton of sounds. It's low grit sounds great! Si
TRUE TRUE. I have two, one rolling into another, however Tom @ COG is slowly making me want to swap them out for a custom unit. I could get something like the a double darklighter in one box with separate EQs. I would need to hear a one with a 2 or 3 band EQ before I decide properly. -
Best compact and lightweight cabinet for live use??
Prime_BASS replied to flameboy87's topic in Amps and Cabs
Barefaced compact, thirded. Although for the price the Genz Benz Focus stuff is pretty good. Ive also had a plenty loud sound from a SVT 210 AV but the sound is a little quality lacking, but still nice. A lot depends on your budget to be honest. -

Playing in time is becoming more challenging
Prime_BASS replied to thunderbird13's topic in General Discussion
Somethings I'll suggest. Play to a metronome, you get a free app for your phone easy, put an ear phone in and done, obviously you'll have to set the tempo for each song, but it helps. Also actually knowing your parts, and when changes are without everyone else playing is key. To me I get lost cause I'm waiting and concertrating on something else to gear the change. After a while and I know the song backwards I can play it all in time on my own. I agree everything else can be distracting, so you can just try your best at concerntrating on what you are doing yourself. If you re setting the beat, everyone should be following you, if they are going out of time or something is too off putting you should just straight up tell them. It's the most annoying thing when our drummer says it's my giant we are going to fast or when he speeds up, I'm following him. Chicken or the egg? -
The next "big thing" in bass development?
Prime_BASS replied to Ghosts Over Japan's topic in Bass Guitars
I agree, new materials for making a whole bass. It would have to be as cheap to get hold of and easy to work with for it to surpass wood. Like the electric car, all seems a step backwards so will never kick off. Only hope they start mass producing hydrogen running vehicles. -

Great Designers. e.g. Leo Fender - he didn't even play them!
Prime_BASS replied to Chiliwailer's topic in Bass Guitars
Because people want me to build them all the time. I'm currently doing 3 Basschater basses with a possible fourth on the way.
True and rightly so too, I just like looking at them personally. That gold jazz with the MFD is to awesome. -

Xotic BB preamp. Had one and sold it, so brought it back along with another. A BBBB preamp.
