  2. Hi Ian.. Excellent post ive been singing the praises of this box for years..& its applications leave the competiton bobbing in its wake.. I was considering moving to the reidmar amps!! We have already got one!! In this little magic box... Sound engineers love the D.I tone from it' in my experience & im still finding different ways of using it... Cheers Paulo. P.s... Do not be tempted to the G.K PLEX digital pre!! as it falls way short of our microbass 2... ive just borrowed one & gave it back the Very next day!!!
  3. Yes I have owned this very same head The Basic 350 ( No Limiter) & it has a Smooth' Rich' Tone to it.. but I found it to be under-powered So' using the Stereo 800 would make perfect sense ( Even tho when I look at this picture my lower back says Forget It' for that is seriously heavy' right there) even the settings you have are very similar to what I favoured... But I moved it on for a SM900' which in turn I moved on also...because of the weight & when you start fiddling around with six bands of parametric' well need I say more? Overkill. I settled with an SM400 which I use bridged... for myself it is the SWR AMP' with all its faults it delivers that sound which we all love...
  4. May i say that i dont want to disagree or contradict with what has been stated here but for myself the Aural Enhancer is not what defines the SWR tone... it merely sucks all the middle out of basic tone the more you enhance it....& ive tryed this in all settings' for the first quarter of its travel..you will find more preamp' but after that its that dreaded mid scoop which cause's the bass to be lost in the band mix.
  5. All of this thread about these beautifully crafted pedals is justifyed..in its own way' An always on pedal is for myself...is Compression' or an Exciter of some kind..i.e Aural Expander....But definately not chorus. I use a TC electronic Dreamscape pedal for those type of " fast vibrato' chorus' effects.. Their " Toneprints" actually which have superb ease of use sound's & i also use them on a fretless..Subtley" of course( Not too much of anything) Now my point about always on' is this...when the music doesnt require that saturated sound...meaning Lush' turn it off!!!! for as we know the 1980s bass sounds were swimming in chorus' & to my ears it can become too nasal..a sound' repetitive.. tune to tune' but if thats your bag' use it!! I personally dont see that sound continuously in a function band situation' or even a motown or stax one. But the Chase Bliss are superb' without reservation especially the warped vinyl...Now if i can just find a gorgeous Warped Woman to buy me One!!😉.
  6. Ive found these pedals most alluring...but like most all pedals ive owned' ive ended up using them on One to Three settings only.... & most definately dont start messing with them mid-tune"...So for myself @ this price range" these are luxury items only!!!! Im sure they are great....But just too expensive.
  7. Thats a quality Pre amp @ great price posted' i would imagine it will not be around very long... G.L.W.T.S.
  8. Hi' how old is this model..? & does this have the current G.K firmwear updates..?

Keep coming back to this topic' because im using Live' a SM 400 a 1991 model which i purchased from a guy who bought it new & never did a gig with it!!! IT Never left the house!!.. that amp bridged into an 8ohm S.O.B is More that i could ever need & the sound for myself....is way better' than the digital stuff i hear people use... & rave about? Why change it?... well weight is an issue definately... but for build quality & longevity... are these tonehammer's or tc's markbass's etc... still going to be flavour of the month in years to come? Time will tell.
  10. Hi there' earlier in this thread i have said that ive owned 3 filters from Spencer @ 3 leaf.. Proton' Wonderlove' & GR2 the latter being the most responsive' with ease of use.. really' far better sounding response from the filter..I.M.O & when paired with octave & drive pedals it too my ears' is just more flexible & easier to arrive at useable sounds Quickly!! This is all subjective of course' but in my experience & also looking @ the price they command on the used market....the GR2 is a desirable unit indeed.
  11. Let us all know just how you get on with the GR2' ive had mine a few years now & still find new fonky sounds with it...( Best filter 3 leaf have made..I.M.O)
  12. Hi' i have both brass' & aluminum' go with the aluminum simply because of the weight difference! But' buy with confidence these are stellar pieces of kit!!! & far superior to many other bridges on the market.

    EBS Microbass

Quite simply one of the finest out board pre amps in its price range available' ive used mine for years "Live" on my effects board' using both channels One clean' the other Driven' with quite different EQ's... it provides clear precise uncoloured tone' & a plethora of uses...It really does leave the opposition "bobbing in its wake"...on virtually all of its applications.
  14. For myself compression is most definately at the begining of my effects chain...& used Sparingly' ( just to grab it..Not squash it) this is achieved by low release & attack thresholds...but it does fatten up bass tone & adds slightly more sustain...Also your feeding the rest of the board a uniform signal So' lets say your running that into an Octave' this kind of signal should in theory? Help with the tracking of the octave..etc'etc' But some folk place it elsewhere in the chain... its a subjective topic that will run & run...
  15. In answer to your quandary.. COG T16' BOSS OC2' MXR BOD... all are good octavers tracking & synthy-ness.. is subjective' ive owned all three my personal choice ( @ the moment ) is the T16 for its flexibility & Great Sound.. but there are other choice's EBS' DIGITHEC' TC' AGULIAR' etc...
  16. The GR2 is the 2nd generation pedal of this chain of filters' from Spencer @ 3 leaf audio"the Groove Regulator being the first..Hence the GR.. & the wonderlove the third & wonderlove deluxe the forth... & ive tryed them all!!! The GR2 stands out for its plug in & be instantly impressed by the sound ability) try & source some reviews of this filter.... In addition spencer also makes a proton series of filters that are equally impressive...they were based on the "Mutron"pedals..where as the GR series & wonderlove's are based on the "Lovetone Meatball" design.
  17. If you can find one' a 3 leaf GR2 envelope filter is superb on bass' believe me.. combined with Octave ( i have both a Cog T16 & an original Boss OC2 ( the Bronze One) Before them a MXR bass compressor then after the GR2 in my chain a EBS microbassII with a overdriven channel....Combining all four of these pedals & i know it sounds a lot...Give's a gargantuan Synth Funk' Sound.. In closing check out the (Bass-Pedals.Com) site for invaluable info & brilliant sound clips....

    SWR

Ive owned two Basic Black's each from the bass centre i still have one' the first had No right' to be still working' after the abuse that it was treated too'( repaired a couple of times for Capacitors burning out' & dodgy plastic input jacks" i Sold it on & its still going!!!!.. i still absolutley love the Sound that comes from this Second Generation Combo'... in a small setting' an electric can emulate an upright tone' I prefered it to the Redhead simply because of its weight & portability...
