Hello sI,"your correct choice is subjective....I gigged the mxr for a year or so before buying the proton... Why? I was asked to create the herbie Hancock. Cameleon sound's which the mxr cannot do!!!! It quacks & doesn't d'wop's... You cannot shift the filter up & down. So I tried the proton & it's so much more versatile & better sounding.....I.M.O

3 leaf proton....wet & bubbly funk (new version) moved my MXR B.E.F on' way to quacky, & laser beam effects" very synth sounding....good with a OC2' tho.....but ultimately quite disappointing...I.M.O

BF-2B....I have the fromel modded version...does the job.... The new Mxr deluxe chorus/flanger is pretty good also.

Nordstrand nj4 is a superb passive choice... check out any reviews anytime= 10/10

surely compression is set it & forget it.. i resourced the onvi labs site" excellent it is may i also add" & stuck with my boss lmb3.. why? because it does a very good job for what it is. ask yourself how many times are you going to start twiddling knobs on the gig & going to different settings? all most never" in my experience anyway, so if you have the cash to blow on this & that "great go ahead and indulge yourself flashing lights & silly price tags abound.

using a compressor before the OC2 does help the boss track better" but with all its warbles and glitches.. its great fun!!!!! i also agree with the others before me there is a required way of using/fingering the instrument to get the best results from the pedal but who would doubt its sound just listen to sledgehammer or tear your playhouse down.

hello everyone" ive looked at a gaggle of compression pedals from expensivo to not so" and my take is this if you can hear it working your using TOO MUCH great to enhance the tightness of the sound" but for me" they are pretty much set it and forget it. i use the boss limiter enhancer LMB thingamybob and guess what..... its a useable tool at a great price!!!!

the ebs microbass II is IMO the finest example of the outboard preamp/tone shaper. D.I tube simulation" five filters" rehearsal amp" effects loop" high and low inputs" etc"etc and then some!!! it leaves the sansamp"aguilar"sadowsky" bobbing in its wake....TRY ONE and see.
