1. Yup, they are marked as 'discontinued' on GAK and no mention of them on BassDirect. Could we now class the NX2-212 as a rare collectors item now !!
2.
So maybe that is the solution.... keep the cab and buy a P bass!!
Ace!
3.
Why can I never just be happy with what I have??
Yeah, tell me about it, hence the 'lots and lots of basses' in my above post. So far I haven't had GAS for the amp side of things, well not yet anyhow !
4.
Just the standard padding, no board.

Same here, just standard padding. I like it but i am going to get it altered as it is toi long.
Cheers guys for that. I've already got a Hot Covers one for my Shuttle Combo and the price is pretty similar to the Roqsolid. I'll have to get some sort of cover if I keep the new one but at £50 ish I'll have to be sure first!
Likewise. Played through it at last night's gig and really struggled to hear myself. Just couldn't seem to find a tone that was pleasing and audible. Never had that problem with my BF Vintage or Compact. The GB cab is also a heck of a lot heavier and much more awkward to move about. Shame, because I really like the look of it. It is a very solid looking and feeling cab, and a model that I had wanted to try for a long time. Now we have the awkward question of what it is worth if I decide to sell it!!? Is it fair to charge what the cabs are worth when everyone knows what you paid for them? Does the BC karma machine demand that you charge £379 so that the community can benefit from the GAK super-prices? Bit of a dilemma that one...
Yup, interesting one this Re the sound. I took it to a rehearsal and played it for the first time, the bottom end was very good, it's just the mids kind of died, quite surprising. I guess I need time to EQ it all as I can't presume the same amp settings for my old cab will work with this one. On the other dilemma Re the selling price, my take on this is I'll always try and pass on any deal I get if I sell it on BC, wherever I have bought the thing I'm selling. So my cab will be priced around whatever I bought it for (either the same or a bit less) as I would have used it a bit etc. However if I wanted to try and get a 'fair market price' ie more for it, I'd sell it via other means and not through BC. I have bought and sold lots and lots of basses on BC, one of the reasons is that people have passed on bargains to me, so I like to try and do the same. Saying all that, it is entirely up to you and as mentioned on various posts previously, the market will decide in the end if the price is correct!!
5. Did either of you get the 4mm padding or the board slots on your covers, or any of the other options?
6. Lol, tell me about it. It's just so much easier to browse on here than actually play! Anyhow Welcome.
7. Lol, James, hope you're doing well. You can certainly have first refusal if/when I do move it on!! If you want to come and have a play through it feel free until I make my mind up!!
8. Hey cheers CamdenRob for the pics, hopefully it's just a matter of a few longer screws and foam. However in your comparison pictures there also seems to be a difference in the rear inside wall of the cabinet, in the USA one you can see the end of an extra bit of ply (well I think that is what it is), but not in the MIM ones. I presume extra bracing or that sort of thing. Oh well, as long as it works fine and for the price I can't complain really, just presumed I'd be buying a USA made cab as my Shuttle combo is. I don't think it was too unreasonable for me to have presumed this, I'd better check next time hey ! Anyhow all things aside I'll try it out and if I don't like it for whatever reason it'll just be another item put on the BC roundabout .
9. Well hopefully something is in the pipeline, I'll just have to wait and see. Cheers for all the encouragement anyhow guys!
10.
Tip: Take off your grill & make sure all the screws under there are solid - I found every one took a bit of a turn to feel tight & 2 or 3 took a few! Tighten the horn too..... and the corner protectors..... and the back plate!! Otherwise, fine! G.
LOL
11.
They looked identical when I had a brief look over them last night, no difference in sound either (only tested at moderate volume). I will have a look at the long screws thing tonight and get some pics if I can. The USA one came from Bassdirect and the Mex from GAK. they were packaged differently as well, same box but the foam cutouts were different for each cab, which inatially made me think they were from different factories. Apparently my first cover arrived this morning so I'll have a check over that as well tonight.
Cheers, would be appreciated
12. Just a wonder, GAK replied saying all of the cabs they get through now are MIM. So are the ones from Bass Direct USA ones or have some random old stock USA ones been sent out from the dusty store cupboards lol? Also just wondering CamdenRob how do the MIM and USA built cabs compare in the finer details? Asking out of interest tbh, I'm sure they sound great whoever made them! Afaik the covers are made in Batley, West Yorkshire.
13. The date of manufacture on mine is Nov'12, yup a year ago. I'm guessing a few BCers got the last of the old stock USA ones or something like that anyhow , tbh I don't think I would have bitten so quickly if I knew it would have been MIM!
14. that's ace Marcus
15. well yeah, it's still a good deal but if I could get one of the Uber cabs for not a lot more then I'd rather have gone for one of those tbh. Anyhow I've emailed GAK and we'll see what they say! I might sell it on if I can't send it back, sort of bought it as it seemed like a deal and don't really need it !
16. mmm, a bit annoyed to say the least about origin of manufacture. If some peeps have got cabs made in the USA that seem to be of a better quality I might send this one back tbh , even if it is cheap for what it is!
17. Yeah, I know what you mean. I prefer the feel of a 4 but the range of a 5 is just better imho. I've got two 5 strings after having four passives 4's, I do miss them tbh but really don't like having to think more than I have to, hence the low D on the B and not a drop D tuner etc etc.
18.
Guys lol there is some excessive cab scrutinisation occurring. I'm the same when I get something new. Can't help it. Just enjoy the bargain of the decade. :-)
Lol, yeah I'm super critical of anything I buy new. If it's second hand I'm not nearly as bothered, new though and it's a different story . On another point just read about 2 pole and 4 pole speakon connectors, any preference between the two types? On the 'Made in Mexico' thing I only noticed a sticker saying it on the crossover panel. I've also a Shuttle 6.0 12 T combo that hasn't got one on, not that it matters really. I just presumed that for the original RRP it would be made in the US of A
19. Yup, all factory sealed but I did notice the box had extra sets of staple holes (with no staples in them!) in the top of it. So either it's been taken out at some point after packaging then repackaged for some reason or a return repackaged in it's original box. I guess the scuffs could be from moving it about in the factory, who knows? Even if I did send it back I wouldn't get another one as they're kinda out of stock now! I guess I'll never know, a bit odd though
20. Got it, now need a lead. I get what was mentioned above Re quality. The screws for the handles protrude through the inside of the ply and the foam inside the cab (acoustic stuff I guess) is a bit rough. However saying that I'm sure it'll sound great and hopefully worth the spends! mmm, also after looking at it with a beady eye the 2 of the corner protectors have a few slight scuffs etc on them. Hope it wasn't a repackaged return lol!! Also didn't realise they were made in Mexico, not that that matters anyhow I guess
21. Mines be delivered, but to my neighbour who is out ! Even when I do get it I'll need a speakon
22. Cheers for that, didn't see it first time!
23. just a question, was there any every deal sorted for the covers for these many cabs that have been ordered?
24. email as well today, see how it sounds this Friday I hope as I actually have a rehearsal , however need to get a speakon cable!!
25. One of the other differences is if you go for a 5 string version the SSI has a broadneck with wider spacing whilst the SSII is has normal spacing , I personally prefer the broadneck versions anyhow!
