1.
I can't recall Oceana ever putting on bands. If they did it was never a regular thing.
Thanks, just a bit curious. I was told that Slade used the place in '75 to film a scene in their movie. Obviously a lot will have changed since then, including possibly a venue name change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaCylETC020
 2.
Who's next?
Didn't know that was on DVD?
 3. Only got the one............ haven't any gut shots but will do when it gets worked on - hopefully soon. It's as I bought it except for a couple of replacement pre-amp valves & I had a Bulgin put back in - it had some kind of multi-socket connection when I got it. Loving your Ashton - never seen one of those before!!!!
 4. Does Oceana in Nottingham still put bands on anyone?
 5.
Someone offers you £1800 but with the catch of £1000 down payment, then the balance by the end of June - yes, June. 3 months away. A quarter of a year.
On the bright side you get the use of the bass for another few months until the balance is paid........... right?
 6.
Presumably a fake ad created by disgruntled band members having had to audition a bass player fitting some or all of these characteristics. Good way of spleen venting.
Written on Boxing Day so maybe a Xmas gig was wrecked.
 7.
I've been to a Physio about my wrist ligaments, they gave me a brace and said wear this for two weeks. Then I went back and they weren't really sure what to do after that. Good old NHS.
Sounds familiar,I was had suggested ballroom dancing to help my back when I came off my bike. Many local sports clubs have open clinic sessions by their physio. If there's any kind of club near you it may be worth asking; a rugby club would be ideal.
 8.
I've got a totally knackered back, meaning any bass over 8.5lbs is a total no-go. My hands are small so I'm having trouble with the neck of my P. Shoulder is a bit dodgy so anything that neck dives is out. Great big cyst in my right wrist joint and subsequent issues with bending it makes slab bodies out. Recurring tendonitis, means my action needs to be less than 2mm with a dead straight neck. And finally, a previously torn and ill-repaired ligament in my left wrist means I have pain when playing anything below 3rd fret.
Just checking you've had your injuries checked by a physio? I see this has already been asked but I didn't see an answer. Apologies if this is out of place. The only reason I ask is I've had a few injuries, pulls & RSI etc, none of which a good sports physio hasn't been able to fix 100%. Also an ex of mine seriously knackered her ankle falling off a pile of crap at the stables. They were talking deliberately breaking her ankle to make it easier to fix, carpal tunnel ops, fusing bones etc etc. My physio fixed it by massaging away all of the scar tissue which had built up around the tendon tear & she didn't have to go near an operation.
 9.
Best put a Jersey on, then.
Do we have to tolerate this bull?
 10.
According to George Fullerton, this decision was motivated by cost and ease of finishing rather than any effect the change had on tone
FWIW John Birch preferred maple for the same reason & it was his default material unless another was spec'd by the customer. He reckoned almost everything was in the pickups, which is why concentrated on them all of his life.
 11.
What makes you think knitting is safe Sharp needles, wool.... can be very dangerous you know
I noticed with my ex that a complicated pattern made her dangerously crochet-ty. I'll get me shawl.............
 12.
residual names
Was that another?
 13.
It was sent without a proper box?!
Sorry to say I made that assumption since none was mentioned in the OP. I've heard of flight-cases being shipped with just a label on and getting there but I wouldn't expert a standard ABS case to. I bought my SKB amp case from Thomann & it arrived safely in bubble-wrap & a box.
 14. Personally - and I've done it, my Fender case is quite battle scarred - I'd pull the busted bit of case out the hole & glue or gaffa it back in place then put it down to experience. IF the bass is 100% then the case has done it's job!.......... IF that's all the damage there is? It adds mojo & will live to do it's job many times more.
 15.
I wonder what he thinks of this?
He probably bricked himself.
 16. This one is the bollox in looks

............ and here's a pic of it with the preferred all black hardware (how I'd have it) when it's kept in a dark cupboard.
 17.
Black and maple. Nowt cooler...
^ Very much this ...................... and no barleys!
 18. I got a slight bollocking off one of Slade's roadies while helping pack up after a gig in the '80s. I'd been doing it round the elbow & over a hooked thumb way. That's what buckles cable he said (I won't do the accent). He showed exactly the same way as in Heminders featured YT video above.
 19.
Dammit, rumbled! I'm actually a 75-year-old Lithuanian woman who breeds donkeys.
So you had a nice ass once then?
 20. I was at a Music Live in Brum in '01 & was introduced to a guy who "did Mark King's basses". Since I already knew JD & it wasn't him & I saw a stand with Fenders on it I presume it was around that time?
 21. A "Katana" is the proper name for a Samurai sword - assuming it's a Japanese Squier? But there any connection seems to end?
 22. I don't think it would matter if it was market research - unless the mods objected? I don't set that great a store (no pun intended) by a shop having all things at all times, it's impractical - & I don't impulse buy large priced items so it wouldn't make a diff to me if it was online or in a shop. Personally I'm happy to pay a fair bit over the odds for an item from a shop knowing that if I get any issues with it they should (in an normal world) be more inclined to sort it out. Sure, it doesn't always pan out that way, but direct contact is always better than over the phone or email IME. I would guess, but you may know, that you'd prefer to have 20 customers come in on any given day & buy a set of strings, strap or lead than have one who just so happens to see the guitar he/she wants at the price they want to pay (OK - both on a Saturday ). Make sure you have great backup service from your suppliers - and check for a damn good tech who will give you good service at good rates - unless you have one on the staff of course. Most of all - the very best of luck to you.
 23.
I'm really interested to see how this goes
Sorry, should have said this earlier in the topic. The Grabber/Ripper style is maybe the only Gibson I've never had my dabs on, so yeah - keen interest here.
 24.
Very good. You are a funny one.
Your easily pleased! - Oh course you are - Fender devotee!
On a happier note... In the event of a Celebrity Smackdown Deathmatch between John Hall and Henry Juskiewicz of Gibson, who'd win?
The one with the most lawyers in their corner?
 25. About as funny as a Fender fetish.
