1. I refuse to compromise by going commercial, and just concentrate on good writing, Just want a Lidl bit of your love baby, But it don't Asda be a Lidl bit, My darlin' Tess, come here baby, Please don't wait, rose of my life.
 2.
Sadly, my first foray into the world of songwriting (mid '80s) came to a sudden end. The chap recording my song, who was a well known singer and actor, a couple of weeks after recording the little ditty, promptly... died! I have considered it my duty, since that day, to never to let any of my 'masterpieces' escape the confines of my 'studio'... my 'Pandora's Box' if you will
With powers such as those you could be the next of the "X-Men", make your fortune that way & side-side the murky world of pop.
 3.
Someone should compile a book of the most commercially prosperous rhymes. :-)
How many hits of the late 50s/early 60s rhymed "baby" with "maybe"...........? That must be quite a list!
 4.
TAXI is a publishing intermediary. I heard about it ages ago and thought it might be a load of old pony but they seem legit. $300 to join so confidence and objectivity are probably good things to have before committing http://www.taxi.com/
I'd be interested to hear what kind of success TAXI had already - i only scanned the site so far. My other half's B-I-L has written a few very commercial songs but can't get a foot in with anyone of note. Had a couple of almost was's and no-hopers promising him God-status - for a half credit of the writing they had sod all to do with. I thought Payola was long gone.
 5.
if he's ultimately helping to keep the retailer and distributor in business
So THAT'S what all the kids are doing in the guitar shops with their mates on a saturday afternoon with no intention of buying & have done since before I was a kid!!
 6. Never seen it, just small bits like the above & have no intention to see the rest. There was so much build up to it that the end result was bound to be a failure. One rumour was that James Belushi was going to do it; but having the kid & Goodman in there was just . Knowing that Dan Ackroyd is seriously into all that, big-time, makes me think he lost track along the way, it can't have been $$ signs - can it? Anyway - I've got all the tracks, that's what counts for me.
 7. IIRC "Sounds Great" (if they're still going) nr Mcr airport do MarkBass. Gawd knows about Aguilar.
 8.
I cant understand why anyone shops at Waitrose? You can burn money at home for free without even driving there!
Their recent adverts claim to match Tesco for branded items. Couldn't say myself, there isn't one close enough to make it worthwhile. So it's "Meatballs for dinner darling?" .........."Ne-e-e-igh lass, not again!"
 9.
It was huge fun, and those of you who snubbed it just don't know what you missed, and I don't mean the slapping and the showing off.
I wasn't there, but I didn't snub it, just from what I saw on the itinerary didn't set my soul on fire enough to "have" to be there. I did find the "Clutterbuck" antics of yesteryear that were shown on here risible, but I wouldn't let that affect my being there or not in any way whatsoever. I'm well able to "tune-out" of background noise that doesn't interest me. I went to a Music Live show a few years ago at the NEC, which was not only bass but guitar & drums at that one, with the stage area only partitioned off, I don't remember being bothered in conversation by it. You sound extremely discouraged by the feedback Silvia; please don't be, it's human nature to pass on neagtive vibes more than positive. I'm sure the majority loved it. I could also have gone to one of those Mojo guitar fairs today too but didn't. I find their advertising about having "experts" on hand to be a tad ambitious.
 10.
I'm a member of Costco so I always get a 10 pack of Duracell there. Bargain compared to supermarket prices.
This^ But then I go and spend what I've saved on their amazing cookies or cakes.
 11. Just being devil's advocate; just as a fr'instance........ What happens if other venues you play decide to follow the first venues idea? Will he try to bar you from them too? If he jacks in it at any point, would you find yourselves barred from the venue(s) because your loyalties lay with the agent & not the one with the purse-strings?
 12.
Yes, the advertising thing does bug me a bit, especially when it gets excessive. If I'm having a pint in a pub, the last think I want is somebody trying to sell me insurance or flashing their corporate logo at me.
Not wanting to open a can of worms that's just been welded shut again, so feel free to delete this if inappropriate. But in my experience - and I'd be very disappointed in my ex-colleagues in particular parts of the advertising world if this wasn't the case........ any pub I've ever been in you can't help but be assaulted by advertising no matter which direction you look in. I did stuff for Bells & Gordons many years ago and the array of items developed was amazing. The annual free-bar night out was quite good too.
 13.
Brilliant! Though it does prove me right, God is a right knob.
Yeah, but remember - you're looking at the knob upside down.
 14.
Ah memories....here's my Jaydee story. About 1988, I found myself in a band with two of John Diggins' sons .............. I saw some amazing stuff - instruments belonging to Tony Iommi, Dave Hill and of course, Mark King.
Could well have been this - a custom copy of his 1970's "bitsa" Gibson.
 15. Hmmm............ "in association with Orange Amps" on the left. "Geddy Lee uses Orange Amps" on the right. And he STILL didn't win it?? Can't they get a rigged poll right even when they're running it?
 16.
Its a tune o matic with lock down sadles, got it off evilbay. front feruls are fender telecaster with the centres re drilled and the rear feruls are from the evilbay too. works well with good internation. also turned the bridge pickup round to make it a little more bassie
Good thinking, though I heard that the bit about turning the pickup is an old-wives tale. Others will know better than me, or have you noticed a distinct difference yourself? I assume that the extra string distance means that you have less issues with the wrap on strings getting in the way, therefore more choice of string brands?
 17.
The Epiphone version of the EB3 is long scale though...
They did a ltd edition in short-scale too, a guy I know in the US has 2 of them. I wanted the white long-scale with dot markers, but life got in the way & I waited too long.
 18.
well gas got the beter of me today n i got my self a shiny new candy apple red pawn shop mustang, thing is somthings guna have to go so if anyone reading this thread is looking for a shorty give me a shout , make me an offer my ladys are all short ;-)
Interesting idea with the string thru on the EB3; not sure if I like the look of it or not, though not much is worse that the Godawful 3-pointer that Gibson are insisting on these days. What bridge have you used on that?
 19.
As far back as 1982 I was at least making an effort to look as if I'd come round your house , throw up on your carpet , eat the contents of your freezer as a milk shake and f*** your dog.
But you didn't? Amateur!!!
 20.
there is nothing - nothing that can hold back the collective might of Basschat
"Nobody gets outta this place without singin the blues".
 21.
Very understanding of you milty. But us sad single bastards have to have a few advantages to cling on to, and being able to fill our living spaces with whatever shizz we want is one of them!
After quite a lot of subtle hinting from my other half I converted one of our rooms into an office; then managed to nick half of it back for my Mac, scanner etc. Once I added my Marshall 2 x 15 into it she's retaliated by using it as another (though mobile) shelf.
 22.
Waistcoats only from now on please!
You asked for it! Who'd have thought 32 years ago that I would have anticipated this thread! Do I get extra points for authentic specs?
 23.
My scrotum has exploded and I'm in hospital
I hate when that happens!
 24.
But it seems we would rather yap about how PCs are sh*t and Apples are good for your complexion, how Flea is crap and star anise has no place in a bolognese, watch a video of a bassist f***ing it up instead of getting it right. Or bloody football You can still do all this, but for f***'s sake, LISTEN to your fellow bassists' music!!
You forgot The Beatles & [s]St[/s]. Sir McCartney .
 25.
+1 hardwood dowel, glue it in. I had the same issue - straplocks or not. In the end I araldited the screw in there, it's been ok for the last 5 years.
Very much this; though the hole will have to be drilled out with a wood-bit before doing this to be mega-secure, nice neat hole = lots of gluing contact area. If doing that have the drill going in reverse to prevent splitting.
