1.
Pound shops is where it's at man.
Really? Duly noted, thanks! Those places fascinate me, another excuse to go for a looksee.
 2.
Lighter fluid. I get tired of saying lighter fluid but what the f***. Lighter fluid.
Yeah def lighter fluid, but it's getting harder to find in recent months. Apparently the shops have to be like mini filling stations fire regs wise so many have just stopped stocking it since most smokers use gas anyway. I found a shop that had six tins left, so I bought them all. I use it to clean artwork too. Many Timpson shoe menders shops sell Zippo fluid, which is the same thing but branded so silly money for what it is.
 3.
I clean my necks with with Brasso , which is just watered down T-Cut really , and use Lemon oil on the fretboards (not maple fretboards - they get brasso too)
Do you not find it makes satin finshes go gloss? I did on one of mine, but I suppose it depends on what kind of finish it is.
 4. Just had another look at the OP. If it was one-piece neck I could see the tech's point - maybe - but since it's a separate board & if his theory had any truth I'd expect to see at least a slight gap or distortion in the join where the board is fixed to the neck in the area of the "knot".
 5.
It's been dropped & the headstock split. The repair is a bit of a bodge, but the reat of the bass is almost as-new.
Can you be sure that's the only damage from the drop? It looks like that crack goes all the way to the nut in that pic?? Assuming that's the case, there's going to be a fair bit of tension on that (B??) head, I'm fairly confident on my fixing abilities but I'd be doing a belt & braces job on a fix like that. The discolouring of the wood around it is a minor consideration in comparison. Given the post about recent prices I'd either walk away or want a substantial knock down in price.
 6.
I have a similar problem with the Vintage brand name.
Like every damn time you see a Vintage instrument on an Ebay list & think "Wow that's cheap, I wonder how old it is?". Then you see that's it's a "Vintage" not "vintage"!
 7.
Skol Jnr is called Max... so that's his volume setting sorted out already
........ and the amp should have plenty of "Headroom" too? Before your time?
 8.
According to BW in his autobiography, Stone Alone, he was never really 'in' with the Stones, especially after Mick & Keith tightened up control and Brian was out. Wyman and Watts were apparently pretty good friends, being somewhat alike in temperament. But another factor was that Wyman was about eight years older than the others, and at the beginning (and as a married man), this made a difference. As bass player, he seems to have been just a secondary Stone in most ways. And as another poster noted here, he never did much that anyone especially remembers. One of the Stones' most memorable bass lines, at the beginning of 'Live with Me,' was written by Keith.
That kinda tidied up the story then, thanks! The age gap was mentioned & the story about him having the gear that they wanted to use. Keith was using an acoustic with a bodged in pickup at one time.
 9. My Tele has a near identical grain mark near the 5th fret. I've had it since '91 with no issues ever. I too say find a decent luthier.
 10. I'm currently reading, on & off, Keith's "Life" auto-biog. So far I'm up to where Brian's started to big himself up & had to be covered in the studio & some gigs. I've noticed already there's been very little mention of Bill, apart from his first joining. Is this a deliberate snub, or did BW really play a small part in the band history?
 11.
My other precision has Dave scrawled on the headstock in black marker.
Like Mark D Philips did with his "Knopfler" special?
 12.
That's the one that gets me! And it's never Mozart, is it? What really gets on my tits is the perpetrator's assumption that he (it's always a 'he') obviously has much better taste in music than you do - therefore it's not noise pollution - he's actually doing you a favour!
Dropping the other half off at the station the other morning & there was an old guy, well into pension age going past, windows down with Radio 4's Today programme hammering out at full tilt. It's not just them young 'uns that get down wiv da 'hood ...... word ....... innit?
 13.
If there is no intention to deceive anyone when it comes to moving the bass on then I don't see the problem.
It's when they get sold down the line, at some point once it's out there, there could be a seller who's more inclined to be more economic with the truth. It's a fair point, often made, and is especially "thought provoking" on the Rick resource" forum. The thing to do is stick it under a bed in an uncle's loft to get some aged patina about it.
 14.
Is this a good point to bring up Eurovision? http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-21697205 I've never really understood the point of this contest More specifically, I've never understood why each country doesn't just enter their own recent no.1 chart hit - surely that's a better indication of a songs popularity than all the nationalistic and obviously biased voting nonsense. Still, I never watch it so what do I know?
Apparently Tony Iommi has written or worked on one of the entries this year . "Brotherhood of IronMan"???
 15. And the CNC machines wouldn't have known whose logo was going on the end product, so as long as it isn't resold as a genuine Fendur (which a copy logo would ensure) then what's the harm I say.
 16.
I guess that just goes to show that single sales haven't been dented too much by the digital age. Maybe.
Probably because the more recent names will have sold the vast majority by download, which are so cheap for a single track that it can easily be done on impulse. I don't mean that in any negative connotation, more that it's a result of the "new" digital age, where no effort at all is needed to go out & buy a physical item.
 17. One of the custom logo's with "Fan of" instead of Fender and PhilLynott instead of Precision. Hope it's got a mirror scratchplate though, or this is just crazy talk!
 18. Surprised at Maplins not having them; that's where I bought mine, a few years ago though - maybe you have to go instore. Metric & Imperial in a tiny red plastic wallet for each. Tried this place? http://www.transtools.co.uk They do some strange sizes.
 19.
........ it'll be here soon so you can flog your soiled undergarments etc
"There's only the stubborn under-stains holding them together!"
 20.
Apart from the one guy who posted earlier, does anyone here actually know anyone who has written or is still writing hit songs, or have we just got 7 pages of fanciful guesswork?
I know a guy who's written a sh*t load of major hits - and I worked for several years in the studio of the printers that supplied all the CD/DVD covers for Universal and Sony BMG, being in contact with them a few times a week. You get to be very cynical, for eg. The covers for all of Michael Jackson's CDs were being re-printed within an hour of his death being announced. You also get to see the success/failure rate among the wannabe pop stars - even after they've got a deal.
 21.
I'd love to see this! Pm sent.
It's on Youtube if you can't wait. Pete is fairly well "bleeped", dunno if he is on the DVD, no input from Daltrey at all.
 22.
Germans are real rockers.
I only heard this for the first time three days ago from 1969!!
 23.
Netto lot I can say to that, really... ...except that I'm not going to be very Co-operative from now on.
Absolutely a-Mace-ing!
 24.
Rather you than me. I'll stick with what I know. I'm not Budgen.
That's the Safeway to be
 25.
Wow, that's worthy of Morrison - I mean, Morrisey. You could go Aldi way with lyrics like that.
So [s]Sp[/s]far so good
