2.
Now I have realised I can plug my MP3 player into my amp, and play over the top of it, I've been thinking I need to buy some headphones to plug into my amp so I can keep the noise to myself. My budget is £50 MAXIMUM, and I've heard good reports about Sennheiser, and Argos have the Sennheiser HD419 at £50 at the moment.
I was bought some new Sennheisers at Xmas, to replace the equivalent pair I had - which I destroyed by using with my practise amp . Even before they blew completely they couldn't take any low notes so if you like fuzz bass they're great. I also have tinnitus which wouldn't have been helped. If you can guarantee you won't have the volume too high there may be some phones out there suitable - personally, with hindsight - I wouldn't.
 3.
Hey Gav! .......... Try porcelain
he did already, but it wouldn't stay on his trowel long enough.
 4. I am a fan of DB but think that "Ashes" is one of the most passe songs he ever wrote - he's like the Rolling Stones, good at what he does, still putting stuff out but his stardom is based on long past & far better material. Also - I don't like slap so apologies to the OP for an irrelevant post.
 5.
Every time we promoted a Stiff act they made sure we completed a PRS form so they could get their cut. Steve
Where did the doubt come in as to whether they would or not? Did they do some covers too, I know very little about the acts material other than the bigger names on the label & their hits.......... and their initial image of being an ad hoc little company doing it their own way.
 6. When my son's band did their live CD they had the discs mastered, copied & covers done at a place in Musselburgh, it's probably gone now (even if I could remember the name) but there was none of that hassle, just the disclaimer. Times change, I wonder if Stiff had to go through all that.
 7.
PS it definately looks like a bottle opener - Are they gonna remove it later.
I thought it more like an ice-scraper, which kinda explains the further operation(s)
 8.
http://www.heatworld...y-Come-Dancing/ Could be a laugh but would prefer him to get the SG and HiWatt out of the loft and do a re-union tour !!
I've told him he can borrow it any time he wants. ............ though personally I wouldn't go to see any reunion gig. I saw the original line-up 36 times & only once came away disappointed.
 9.
Not at all, the ancient craft of thatching is dying out
Old thatchers never die, they just get put out to grass.
 10.
'NOD No.1' - didn't come from Birmingham did it? >Edit< oh, just see the top!
Yeah, there's 3 of them turned up so far - which means there's another six ex-Slade 200's out there somewhere.
 11.
Almost. More like two-thirds of the way to the elbow and outside edge / slightly below. Only other thought is tennis elbow, though the pain isn't in/around the joint..
Yeah, sounds very similar to the RSI I had a couple ro so years ago. The physio told me I have three long tendons there, in my case they'd fused together. I had a couple of sessions of manipulation to separate them again & no trouble since. If you put your forearm flat to a table, palm down & try to raise & bend your hand backwards you'll feel the tendons bunch up as they pull. This was one of my maintenance exercises after the treatment. I'd say, the Ibuprofen gel to ease any pain but get a physio to see to it. In my experience GPs usually start talking about pain relief & operations rather than as a physio would say "treat the cause, not the symptoms". And as my son has just found out - after joining a waiting list - an NHS physio just talked about his injury & didn't physically do anything about it. FWIW I'd doubt it's RSI or anything serious, more overwork as you said in a repetitive position. Try to search out a decent sports physio, but they can be expensive - about £30-40 a session.
 12. Many years ago I sent my Mum a box of chocolates in the post. The postie actually folded it in half to get it through her letterbox! And even then it must have needed a crow-bar to get it in. I get paranoid about any package I send that's over letterbox size entirely because of that.

 14.
Whilst trying to remove a seized sump plug today (long story), I've found that I've strained some tendons in my right forearm
Do you know for sure it's tendon issues? About half way along the outside of your forearm?
 15.
Good point, some twat ran a key down all the cars outside the jam I went to on Friday, ours included, road worn! If I catch the w***er that did it his face will match!
Had that done to me in a police owned car park in Blackpool right next to the main Fylde Coast HO & underneath a CCTV camera cluster by a driver who left a note on my windscreen who said I'd parked too close - I was there before him! Police said it was my word against his that he'd done it since their CCTV wasn't working at the time due to cuts!
 16.
I just leave the same strings on for months once they have settled, the active treble pot on a ray can make any old strings sound fresh
Agreed, nothing adds more character to your tone than algae living in your string windings......... erm, maybe
 17.
The tapered post does still apply pressure BigStu
I would imagine it does, but I'm very much a belt & braces person in some respects; I also do the healthy stretch of new strings to get them as "in" as I can ASAP. I'm just fishing really, never having has the OP's problem.
 18.
I wonder if Ford would make a limited edition for musicians (I presume other musicians like them?) Or a Mark King model with loose wheelnuts that make a clacking sound over all the potholes, a 3 tone sunburst paintjob or maybe a Fender model or something!
Would an insurance company accept minor accident damage as "relicing" in that case?
 19. What else would you name a bassists most suitable car after - than a Dutch 70's session band?
 20.
The strings all have 2 full winds around the string posts.
When you do this do you have a winding both top & bottom of the stub of the string, so that the windings are pinching onto the string, the tighter you tune the tighter the grip kind of idea? Personally I aim to get one winding above and two or three below; comme ca (Doesn't work if you have the kind of machines where the stub is pushed down into the middle of a split post vertically)
 21.
No offence taken P.S. You see? I wrote "PolanE" instead of "Poland". Damn, this smallish netbook keyboard combined with haste results in me embarrassing myself.
Think of it not as a mis-spelling ........ but as a D##
 22.
I expect if Noddy Holder said to Dave and Don 'Alright lads , we'l get back together but only if the gobshote from Wakey plays bass ' I might be persuaded to help him out ! Trouble is I'd have to fight Big Stu for it and I don't care for the 'Big' bit.
Oh I dunno - we could take turns, I'd even lend you my Jimmy bass & Hiwatt rig. Them three have slowed down now so much that I'd (maybe) be able to keep up. I'm crap on violin though mind......on the plus side - have you seen Jimmy's Mrs?
 23.
Thanks for the replies, unfortunately the parcel is oversize for almost every service suggested; only Fedex Freight (£600!) or UPS (£330) can do it.
If they will - have you tried getting the recipient stateside to get a price to have FedEx collect rather than you sending it? I can safely say that I took a while picking my chin up off the floor when I did it that way round last time - bit it was 4 years ago. A Hiwatt 200, double boxed, weighing whatever a Hiwatt 200 does, insured for £1000 for (IIRC) £72!
 24.
Well, whadya reckon everyone? http://www.gumtree.c...more/1014003895
Looks like they thought the bass pedal needed changing too - as my son did I mean, Tama have a good name & that one is a good third of the whole price when new. I don't know enough about drums to say "Go for it", but it looks like a good deal to me; if you know a drummer you respect the opinion of try to get them to give it a look over. Waving cash at the owner may get them to drop it a bit too.
 25. Only thing I remember off the top of my head (though I'm open to contradiction) is that they're the rarest of the EB series because they were only made for one year1959-60 before the SG shaped ones came out.
