1. Yeah, Guy Morel. Ashdowns CS is the best in the business.
2. I had the same problem and it ended up being the mains transformer, Ashdown replaced it for around £75 and it was a quick turnaround time.
3.
Ugly, and yet another confusing name that's already been used. Miffed.
Agreed. Ernie Ball are seriously bad with naming their products, so much potential for confusion for the average customer.

Feedback For Philly

Just bought a Warwick from Phil. He agreed to meet me quite late in the evening as it was easier for me logistics wise. A top bloke, very friendly and great comms. Bass as described. Really pleased with the transaction, cheers mate!
6. For a singer, I'd say a couple of months. One rehearsal a week and practicing at home.
7. Never use them. All done through the EQ. VPF is just a fancy name for a contour control, you'll lose your presence in the mix cranking that much above the off position. VLE just dulls everything. YMMV of course.
8. Final drop to £999, will withdraw at the end of January.
9. I'm laughing in utter disbelief at this guy!
10. Great bass heads, I had a GP12 smx. Turn off the preshapes, they're pants. A little goes a long way with the eq and compressor. I used to boost the low band of the compressor a tad and left the hi part off. It added a lot of punch. One thing I would say tone wise is I don't rate those Trace 15"s. They have a baked in sound unto themselves, I had the head rehoused from the combo into a sleeve and started using it with a GK 410. Talk about unleashed! Persevere, it's worth it!
11. In terms of true global appeal and not "bass players, bass players" I see only Flea being able to do this.
12. Owned a Stingray, my current Spector kicks it in the balls in the aggression stakes.
13. My old Epiphone Thunderbird was a slap machine! Probably the best slap tone I've had behind my Spector.
14. Anyone got any pepto-bismol?
15. I have a 2010 Candy Apple Red + Maple board Mexi Jazz and in a nutshell, It's superb. 8.4lbs, flawless finish and fit and great pickups. Satin finish neck too, super comfy!. General consensus round these parts is the Mexi factory has really upped It's game in the past few years. Tbh though if you're going to be modding, I'd just buy a Squier as a blank template to personalise to taste.
16.
I owned one of these a couple of years back, lovely piece of kit. Have a bump.
Thanks dude, they really are. Bump for extra trade options.
17.
Quality wood ends up being what traditionally started being used for solid body instruments (not based on 'tone' but on availability & price mostly). Tradition takes care of the rest. Other quality woods are supposed to be 'quality' for aesthetic reasons... and little else. Then... add marketing Not saying that the wood will not have an effect in the sound of solid body instruments, but when you consider the huge variation between individual bits of wood of the same species, it seems a bit too much to give the wood the importance that some want to give it. To me, it seems that other factors play a much larger role, and in the case of bolt-on instruments particularly the neck pocket fit.
Exactly my thoughts, well said.
18.
Seems the top manufacturers may be wrong. They insist on using what they suppose is quality wood for their guitars. Maybe it's a marketing thing?
This will go round and round. And yes to a degree I think it is.
19. I'm definitely of the opinion that the wood has little to do with it really. My old Modulus Flea sounded crap acoustically but plug that sucker in and it was absolutely stunning. Granted that's a carbon fibre neck but the fact remains it wasn't a particulary resonant body or neck. Imo it's all in the electrics. I'd be looking at the electric components of this bass or at least what you are expecting tone wise to be happening.
20. Why would someone think this is a good idea? A lot of time and money ruining an already lovely bass. Just buy a friggin 5er!
21. The G string alignment over the polepiece on a Stingray. 99% of the many I've seen (and owned) have all had this quirk. Not that I'm suggesting it affects the sound in any way (another can of worms). Neither that it's the only mass production bass with this problem, Jazz basses are known to suffer (Indeed mine does) but for some reason its more noticeable on Rays and I can never stop looking at it when I see one!
22. The Behringer BOD is more like a distortion pedal than an overdrive. Its not very subtle at all and only seems to do balls out terror
