I used to own a Carlsbro B150 4x10 combo, it was my first 'proper' amp. It really wasn't that bad! Celestions, compressor and a graphic eq! It was bloody huge though and I remember having to clear out dozens and dozens of dead moths that had made their way in the port. A punchy amp, Certainly better than the 50w Torque combo i used at school!

I absolutely love Flea but that is just AWFUL.

Dave just bought my TC mini Flashback, a thoroughly pleasant and straightforward bloke, quick payment and no nonsense. I'd definitely do business again. Enjoy it Dave!

I don't like anything that looks remotely vintage and behave like a moth to anything that has twinkly lights or is lit up like a Christmas tree. I love loud colour schemes like Markbass or the Alu Hartke cabs, that new Peavey MiniMega head too #GAS.

Keep the head, flog the cabs and buy a strong, lightweight 4x10 with big power handling! I had a GK neo which was a one hand carry (just about). Also as Lozz says, I doubt those mismatched cones are helping matters much.

Just sold my beloved Jazz to Andy, a very friendly and polite guy, easy going and fuss free. Prompt sale and payment with no messing about. Deal with total confidence!

Advice on changing from Markbass to TC Electronic...
40hz replied to lastanthem88's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use a TC BH550 with a Markbass NY122. I wouldn't worry about anything volume wise. I thought the new BH series were supposed to be genuine wattage anyway? It certainly sounds like a 550watt amp, if not more! It easily crushes the old LittleMark 250 I had. On that note, it's a much clearer and more hi-fi head than the Markbass, which was very refined and warm sounding to my ears. Neither tonally better or worse, I personally just prefer the clarity of the TC. -
If any Warwicks ever become collectable it'll be the pre-89 ones but I wouldn't be spending loads on them at the moment - there are substantially better ROI's out there. What you do get is a really high quality, nice sounding bass for not a lot of money. Assuming that's the sound you like. If I were getting a YOB bass it'd probably be an early streamer.
Snap. My plan for a YOB bass is an 86 Streamer!

Do you notice a lot of difference in your string gauge and tone.?
40hz replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
I'm now using 35-95 gauge Elites after years of 45-105 and I wish I'd made the switch sooner. I find the lower tension much more comfortable and more responsive to playing dynamics. I have to say, i haven't noticed the sound being any thinner either. -
Would you consider posting & if so how much to post to Harrogate?
Yeah, I'd be happy to post, I should of said in the ad, need to find a suitable box though, think I've actually still got the original fender one in the attic! I'd cover the postage, so no worries there.

Welcome! I'm up in sunny Chipping Norton!
-
Owned from new and as standard. Complete with soft case and all original case candy and bumf (even my original receipt) lightweight at around 8.8lbs. In very good condition with a few minor dings, the worst of which is on the underside of the bass (as seen in photobucket pics). Really resonant and growly tone. Set up with a low buzz free action although it could do with new strings (though I'm sure any potential owner would do that anyway). Sad to see it go but I just don't use it since I bought the Warwick. Bass is located in Chipping Norton, happy to meet somewhere or will deliver within a fairly large radius for small petrol contributions. Needs to be gone within 10 days or will withdraw from sale. Bills to be paid! Cheers! http://s1194.photobu...obile%20Uploads

Is the market for older instruments in decline?
40hz replied to karlfer's topic in General Discussion
There are a lot of people asking way, way over the odds for non-original vintage Fenders. You see a lot of those taking an age to sell, if at all. The totally original stuff has now hit such a value, it's not being sold to bass players per se but more as investment pieces. Imo,ymmv and all that. -
Just bought Jon's Musicman USA SUB. Couldn't be happier with the transaction. Prompt comms, friendly and a pleasure to deal with, a true gent! Deal with total confidence. Cheers Jon!

I dug into this ages ago and it turns out it was some little known, London based producer that played on the album version of Space Cowboy. I'll see if I can find the relevant link again!

My old Euro 4 se5 had a lovely neck, it was quite slim, basically a jazz neck with a smidge more fatness front to back. Nowhere near this clubby reputation they seem to have.

I can genuinely say for the first time in 13 years I'm gas free. Honestly! Got a Warwick and it instantly felt and sounded tailor made for me, and what I want a bass to be to a 'T' whereas no other bass has ever illicited that reaction. It's been 3 months and my mind is still a zen-like state for the first time ever. I don't find it lacking in any department and having owned and played most things that would of ever been of any interest to me, even the curiosity factor for new stuff has gone. There is one however, being a WaL mk1 but even that is a closed off concept being 4.5k new!
-
As above, it'll work perfectly well my Warwick but even with the volumes on both pickups maxed and the speaker on my phone held directly to the pickup, I can't even get the LED to flash using my passive Jazz. Anyone else had the same problem or shed some light on why this might be?

So I have a brand new TC bh550, just jamming away with my Warwick on it via the headphone socket and happened to brush the back of my arm on the strings and received a tingly shock akin to a 9v battery shock. I also noticed the hairs on my arms were all standing on end. I tried it again and received the same thing. Now I get static shocks all the time from my car and I think its down to my cheap, Asos desert boots, so I took them off and tried it again and all was well, I tried with my jazz bass again and that was fine too, no shocks or hairs on end. Just looking for a 2nd opinion here before I take stuff to be properly looked at, or send the week old TC back. Could the shoes really cause this? Seems crazy to me. Thanks guys (A quite worried 40hz) EDIT/Solved - Traced it to a dodgy extension lead. Scary stuff!

Neck replacement for a Fleabass Street Model
40hz replied to jpdabass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Wouldn't help if the neck is still too concave. If the truss rod is feeling stiff you could try helping the neck by bending it back as you tighten it. The lighter gauge strings is a good option too.
Woops, seemed to have missed that point, my bad. Ignore my post haha. -
