  1. It really is. The new Graft basses have all been amazing instruments.
  2. Some of the later Japanese Squiers had narrower necks and are shockingly good value. Pretty sure that there's a Silver Series P bass on here that is nicely run in and has a 40mm nut. It used to be mine.
  3. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw that needs to find a good home. Here's a brand new and unopened set of the Geezer Butler P/J pickups. These are all passive no no battery required; save yourself several squids on buying them new from a store. £105 inc. P&P to UK mainland. These are the beasties: https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/pj-models/gzr-pj.html

  4. Just picked up a strap from Paul. Great to deal with and everything done very promptly and efficiently. Many thanks.
  5. My minor brush with fame was with the bass player from a pretty well known NW band. He bought an MIJ P bass I was selling and came round to pick it up. Thoroughly nice man, had a good chat but he didn't play it much other than to make sure it was all working.
  6. That's a beautiful looking bass you have there.
  7. Thanks @scrumpymike As I understand it the Bone White (I know, get a different hobby) is original. There are a few nudges in it but this is experimental for me and it's more about the practicality of the bass for me in terms of size, neck profile etc. I think the nut and the p/up are not original and the electronics have been upgraded. One tuner is different too but the whole bass is really very engaging and works really nicely together.
  8. In order to try and find a bass that doesn't set off my on-setting arthritis I have joined the club having just done a part ex and received this bass as part of the deal. I know the brand (Fenix by Young Chang) but have never come across this particular bass. Does anyone know anything about them?

    SEI bass

I used to own a lovely fretless 5er...
  10. These basses were made in China by Tanglewood who have a pretty good reputation for their Chinese-made products. Finally setup and and checking for these early batches was done by Overwater in the UK.
  11. For sale is this rather lovely Overwater by Tanglewood bass in what is, to my eyes, a pearlescent vintage white colour. As you can (hopefully) see it is in excellent condition and dates to 2011. I'd say the image with the ownership notice best represents the colour. The bass is in very good condition with no marks that I see. I believe the bodies on these were Poplar and the bass has a 3-piece maple neck and rosewood board. The bass weighs a very shoulder-friendly 8lbs 2oz (3.7kgs in new money) and comes with a decent gig bag, also in very good condition. The only issue I can find is that one of the knobs has a small fracture in it. These have a grub screw to grip the pot shaft and I have been unable to find an exact match in order to replace it. It works absolutely fine so not a major issue. Unfortunately, the original John East preamp suffered mechanical and electrical failure in that the push/pull on the volume that engages a ‘bright’ tone broke. Thankfully I had a Glockenklang 2-band in the spares drawer that has been happily working away without issue. The original preamp will be included in the sale. The bonus here is that although you have lost the ‘bright’ function you now have a push/pull passive option with the treble acting as a tone pot. Our own Dood has reviewed this bass (not this exact bass you understand but one of its siblings) in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQmEYg8G9nA I would much prefer to arrange to meet up/deliver/have the bass collected so you can see it in the flesh. If it is to be a courier then I will get it all packed up for you and you can arrange shipment at your convenience. If you have any questions at all or require additional pictures of any details please ask away and I give as comprehensive an answer as I am able. Thanks for looking.
  12. @Hellzero here are a couple of better pics of the Eve Iona. Not a proper through-neck bass as you can see:
  13. I have had these pickups in a P bass I was using for a while. Nice output and tone tbh. I have now returned the bass to stock and sold it so these are no longer needed. No idea who makes them but they seem well put together without the nasty sharp edges on the casings that some cheaper p/ups seem to have. The two wires were extended a little to fit better into the bass they were in, but there is plenty of wire for a more standard P bass so they could easily be removed if you find them offensive. £20 inc postage to UK mainland. Thanks for looking and here are some picks:
  14. Is your preamp subtly different to the one in the link as I can't see the Z mode micro switch and wonder what the 5-way switch does?
  15. These are great preamps. I have a 4-band Audere in my last remaining fretless ACG bass.
  16. Absolutely! I am always amazed by the reception and following that bands I have thought to be quite niche until you see them live. I had a very similar experience at a Lindisfarne gig some years back.
  17. I feel the need to challenge the assertion that the height of punk was 1982, maybe about 5 years earlier? The Damned released New Rose in late 1976 that is probs the first punk single to gain recognition and the movement exploded in 1977.
  18. It's actually an Eve Iona bass (another Scottish Luthier).
  19. I think this is the only pic I have of me gigging with a fretless bass (unlined ). From a few years back when I was in a blues band...
  20. NOW SOLD ELSEWHERE Up for sale is my fabulous Japanese Fender Precision Bass in beautiful 3-tone sunburst. The bass plays, looks and sounds wonderful and will be missed however arthritis is taking its toll so stuff is being sold off. The rosewood fingerboard is a lovely dark colour with beautiful figuring and has been regularly cleaned a treated with lemon oil to preserve its condition. The bass is In very good condition all round for a 38-year old instrument with just a little mojo in the form of a some light buckle rash and one or two minor dings (see pictures). The frets are in good condition and have recently been dressed. The dark Rosewood board has been oiled. The tuners all work smoothly and the electrics work perfectly with no noise, the pots having recently been treated with Servisol. The bass comes a good quality gig bag. I also have a pickup cover that came with the bass. All in all it’s a superb bass in the best colour combo with a full set up with plenty of life left in the frets. It weighs 3.9kg. As always collection or meet up is preferred, but I would consider a courier if necessary. If you have any questions please ask, or if you would like any more pictures.
  21. For sale is my Highway One (not to be confused with the Highway 1) Jazz bass. This series is the mid life upgrade of the Highway 1 series that include a nitro finish, BadAss II, ‘70s logo etc. The bass is in good condition with hardly any fret wear and the nitro finish has started to wear in and shine up a little on the back and the slanty bit where your forearm typically rubs. There is one mark on the lower side of the upper horn. It's approx 15mm long and has left a smooth but shallow indentation and I have priced the bass accordingly. Please see the pics. Spec: Body: Alder with satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish Neck: Maple, Modern "C" Shape, with Posiflex™ Graphite Neck Support Rods and satin Urethane finish Fingerboard: Rosewood, 9.5" radius (241mm) No. of Frets: 20 Medium Jumbo Frets with white dot position markers Pickups: 2 x Vintage-Style Single-Coil Jazz Bass Controls: Volume, volume, tone Bridge: Leo Quan Badass® II Bridge with 4 Pre-Grooved Saddles Machine Heads: Standard Hardware: Chrome Pickguard: 3-Ply Parchment ‘70s headstock logo The bass is in excellent condition and is currently sporting a high quality KiOgon tradition V/V/T jazz bass loom. I have the original Grease Bucket circuit that will be included in the sale along with a spare, and so far unused, BWB scratch plate that I acquired from Armstrong Music. This particular example weighs 4kgs (or 8lbs 13oz in old money) on my digital scales. The bass will come with a decent quality gig bag. I’d much prefer to meet up somewhere in person to exchange the bass, or deliver if it’s not too far. A courier would be a last resort. Here are some pics of the bass, if you'd like to see any more detail please just ask. Thanks for stopping by.
  22. We're doing a golf club in Preston. Two sets, the second one of them going across midnight so had to learn Auld Lang Syne. With the ongoing arthritis, it maybe my last one unless I can find some way of relieving it.
  23. Thanks @itu that's very helpful, I will check these out.
