    For sale is this MM style 4-conductor pickup that came out of a DiMavery MM-501 bass. Not sure who makes them but I think it's a ceramic magnet. It sounded fine in the bass but I wanted to put an AlNiCo pickup in the bass. £20 posted to UK mainland. Here are the pics:

    Now sold elsewhere F/S are a set of neck and bridge pickups for Rickenbacker style basses. These are the single coil with static impedance of 8.2k Ohms (neck) and 8.4k Ohms (bridge). Bought in anticipation of a project that never happened. As you can see they are unopened but I have added in the pics from the Retrovibe website for clarity and a link to the relevant pages. These are just shy of £120 inc. P&P from Retrovibe, so offered at a very reasonable £90 inc. P&P to UK mainland by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

    I think @Mrbigstuff makes an excellent recommendation. I have a Jet P bass that I have upgraded with a decend loom and AlNiCo pickups for a more vintage tone and it records beautifully. Basically any P-type bass should suit you needs perfectly.

    NOW SOLD ELSEWHERE I did this as a fun project, but sadly about 2 yrs too late as my arthritis is not so good now, and whilst I can just about wrestle a tune out of a bass, it isn't getting any easier. The specs are as follows: The doner bass is a DiMavery MM501 - surprisingly good tbh! The bass has a Basswood body, maple neck with a lovely satin finish and nice Rosewood board. This has bee upgraded with a Retrovibe Stinger preamp and Retrovibe MM pickup which required a bit of widening of the control cavity, also some LaBella LT flats. Finally, I spray painted the pickguard black - not a great job but looks fine from about 2 metres or more away. If you have any questions please ask away. I have packaging and can post the bass, and will go 50/50 with you on the cost if postage is your preference. Also happy to meet up somewhere mutually convenient of it's not too far away.

    I found this in reference to Autumnglo from a John Hall Q&A. Not sure if it helps or hinders: Unfortunately, there were about three different shades of Autumnglo produced over the years. The first one, circa '57, was like a Fireglo surrounded by a brown edge. The second, during the late 50's and through into the 60's was more like a very dark Fireglo. The last one, in the 70's, was kind of, for lack of a better description, a baby poop brown with a matte surface. So, while dreaming, take your pick! (My personal preference is the first type.)

    My birthday and Christmas fall within three days of each other and I was gifted this Retrovibe by the fam as a joint present for both events after me seeing it in Bolton and commenting on it to Mrs ead (not by any means as a hint; as a few of you know I'm selling my basses these days due to arthritis). Having been in touch with David it seems it was one of 8 made in this colour around 10 years ago. Absolutely immaculate although the pickups are apparently not the original fit items, so I will probs restore the right ones if I can find some. Interestingly it's a 33.25" scale and has the push pull on the bridge tome control.

    If it has to be a Fender then for me a Geddy Lee sig. Japanese would be pre-loved, but you can get the US ones new I think.

    Thanks, very kind of you to say so. I'm not sure yet about samples as I need to work out what I have that I can record with. Secondly I would need written commitment that you wouldn't all point and laugh 😞
