  1. I've recently left a band that did 40 or so shows a year to do around one a month. It was becoming too invasive into my family time, plus Mrs ead is getting over cancer atm so I need to be around a lot more. Something like would be fine for me. Aside from the 'gigging' band I also belong to an 3-piece originals band. Definitely hobby/social aspect to it. A couple of rehearsals a month and we'll do a few gigs when we feel like it, although of course venues for original music are getting hard to find around here.
  2. What the G man said ^
  3. Ours evolves constantly. We'll drop stuff, put new tunes in and then resurrect old ones. We often play the same pub 3 or 4 times a year.
  4. Keep a weather eye on the For Sale section on here or maybe evilbay. Some little gems do come up. I got a decent P bass item from a seller based in Holland last year, straight fit, no issues.
  5. Just traded a bass with Martin at the usual service station type rendezvous and what a nice guy he is. The bass was exactly as described and if anything I'd say he'd undersold it as it looked better than the description The meet up went entirely to plan and was easy to arrange as he was most helpful and communicative about arrangements. Top bloke, deal in confidence folks, Martin is one of the good guys that makes this place tick
  6. Love that.
  7. You can now drag and drop an image into a post. Here's one of my recent speculative creations...
  8. Sorry got this the wrong way round, I was ripped off! Try Jack's Instrument Services for a pickguard. It will still be a significant percentage of the cost of you bass though. That having been said had I had to buy the DP126 set new it would have cost almost the same as the bass.
  9. Damn, you paid £10 more than me Did you get the red or the black version? They are great value at this price level. I picked one up the other day and after playing it for a while I decided it was a little too polite and as you say, the J p/up is quiet. So having stuck a set of DiMarzio DP126s in and a proper Kiogon loom and the bass sound has been transformed. Super punchy now with a great tone. Gratuitous pic.:
  10. The configurator is the devil's work. I spend too much time on there imagining more Sandberg basses that I might one day buy! Why not give us some of your options to consider. Is there anything nailed down at all?
  11. Very sad, RIP.
  12. He missed out my Limelight GL
  13. For those without a Fender fixation, I'd say these are top P basses.
  14. Nice bass sir, I have a red one (also with matching h/stock). Very nicely made indeed I think.
  15. Surely that's going to be an MIA Roger Waters P bass.
  16. I very nearly bought a set of these but after extensive listening to clips etc. on t'interweb I ended up with a set of DiMarzio DP126s instead (with which I am very happy).
  17. Also check the L/L porn thread here:
  18. Have you seen this in the Wanted section? A bit brief and to the point, but there you go!
  19. For example if you have two counter melodies going on. I think to really appreciate why it's a worldwide standard just watch a conductor directing an orchestra. Without the framework of the music it would make the task much harder, and if you have one set of musicians doing one thing with their long notes and another part of the orchestra doing something else which part dictates where the bar ends? I agree that many things can be improved but I do think this particular aspect has stood the test of time for the last 3 or 4 centuries at least!
  20. And on Amazon, slightly cheaper.
  21. Now traded. Thanks for all the interest. For sale or trade is my immaculate Ibanez SR4000e. The bass s/n dates it to Nov 2014 and it really is immaculate condition. It comes in the original Ibby hardcase with the Swiss Army Knife tool thing. Weight wise it's a little less than 8 1/2 lbs by my scales. The spec is: Mahogany body in natural oiled finish 5-piece Wenge/Bubinga neck with titanium rods Wenge fretboard with MOP oval inlays Nicely dressed medium frets Bartolini Custom pickups with the Power Curve III EQ - 3-band with sweepable mids and an EQ bypass switch Monorail bridge and Gotoh tuners. All hardware is Cosmo Black Trades wise I'm happy to consider cash either way depending on the bass or a straight swap. The sort of things I'd be interested in (4 strings only please) are a US or MIJ P Bass, maybe a Spector Legend NT, a Stingray? Anyway, please feel free to make offers and I'll be polite if it's not quite what floats my boat. Happy to ship (at cost for buyer), but would much prefer to meet up and jumping in the car for an hour or two would not be a problem. For trades I'd much prefer to meet up. Thanks for looking and here are some pics, note that the case interior is not that pink, more red in colour. Let me know if you would like any more information or additional detailed pics of any aspect of the bass.
  22. Personally looking forward to Hell Toupee.
  23. I'm about to start learning the piano at age 57. I can read the treble clef as I used to play the violin to a decent standard but I have a block for the bass side which needs sorting. Plus I think it will improve my bass playing.
  24. Bit of a shocker. RIP.
