1. Looks great. I like the simple approach. I know little or nothing about amps though. What is 'presence' 'drive' and 'depth' ?
  2. Does anyone know of a reliable luthier that I can take a bass to and have him diagnose and attend to it. Someone with a personal recomendation please.
  3.
I highly doubt that it's the same lineup, seems the page just hasn't been updated yet.
yes that did strike me as a little strange, Maybe someone 'in the know' can give us the insider gen ? Someone like Dood might well know (hint?)
  4. Already looking forward to it. Lots of great equipment to peruse Apparently now at The Band on the wall http://www.bassday.co.uk/
  5. As far as i have been able to tell, the main riff is: Starting on B flat - root, root, fifth, third, (root) root root. Then repeated again on F, then G, then back to B flat for the last time, thereafter adding a C # run on the end as Bremen said. The run at the end of the sequence is a quickly played C# major scale. You have to know the song to get the timing right, as it obviously is not stated below in this simple interval thingy. Riff A:-------------5th----3rd------------- E:-------R-R-----------------R-R--
  6. I wonder if this album will be lopped of its highest and lowest frequencies, (ie: Dynamic range compresion ) to make it seem loder on a stereo or headphones, like the last few RHCP albums ? see Loudness wars . Here or Here. PS: I have two copies of Californication. One the released copy, the other the original album before they did the dirty deed to it. You can tell the difference even on a cheap stereo.
  7. Im after some music for the bass line for this Desmond Decker classic from waay back in the 1960s when i was a nappy wearing rug rat If anyone can help out? cheers daz
  8. BumP for price drop. now £50, have to get rid quick.

  10.
If you dropped £10k on a bass would it be to play or as an ornament? Just asking because I can't honestly imagine spending big bucks on a bass to play.
makes no diff, if i saved for years or won el gordo, bases are for playing. Guitars on the wall as ornaments is silly, unless they are just hung there to keep them from the dog chewing or cocking a leg on them, or the missus knocking it over whilst doing the hoovering.
  11. Depends how much money i had to spend. Lets say i won 10 million on tonights lottery. Id think nothing of spending £10,000 on a bass. Otherwise maybe £1,000.
  12. I have owned 6 bases and all were/are passive. I do have an active Hohner b bass but the electrics are knacked so i have never had a chace to play it (probably a lesson there somewhere )

  15. The last album, Stadium Arcadium. I think they tried to do a London Calling, and ended up with a Sandinista! instead. (ie: too many mediocre tracks) I think by then Frusticante's heart wasnt in it. Flea really needs someone he clicks with to write songs from Kiedis's lyrics. I dont think Klinghoffer is that person. Hopefully i may get to see Flea play in some smaller band at a more intimate venue. I saw them in some enourmous park in Dublin several years back. We walked all the way from the port into Dublin centre, then on to the park. Which we found out was the largest public park in Europe or something! So we had to walk another 3 miles into the place where the gig was. Then belive it or not we walked all the way back to the port. Good job i like to walk
  16.
Owned from new for about 6 months, 100% working, small marks on the back, you can hardly see it in the photos. Great Sansamp Bass Driver clone, I've been using it as a pre amp and a DI for acoustic gigs and it sounds great! Only selling as I'm trying out some other pedals now so this one isn't needed. Awesome pedal to have in your gig bag should anything go wrong at a gig. £25 inc postage (UK only), or if you live nearby I'll deliver it for £20.
I might have had it but GAK do them new for £25 including p&p

It states
Free - Standard Delivery from outside UK

Delivery: Estimated within 19-25 working days
and it also states
Item location: Alton, Hampshire, United Kingdom
Hmm. Which is it then ? All with a feedback score of 10 small ammounts. A new ebay drop shipper trying to get rich quick methinks.

    Wasps
I wore baggy lightweight trousers for a gig once and a wasp flew up there during the second song - I didn't get stung but I did invent about 8 new dance styles in less than 3 minutes! I should've taken a lesson from Rawlinson End and worn bicycle clips
Happened to me one summer when i was 13 years old. I recall it as if it were only yesterday. There I was natterring away to my freinds in my shiny Dr Martens polished to a mirror finish with Tuxen Red and wearing a pair of brown/orange oxford bags (hey give me a break it was 1976, everyone but the SeX pISt0lS and the Bromley coningent was wearing flairs, even old grandads and milkmen etc) All of a suddenI felt a sting on my shin l and quickly jumped up, only to feel another on my knee. suddenly i realized what had happed. Wasps! close quarter sneak attack up the pant leg To my horror I suddenly sussed it was heading upwards, to my knackers! I grabbed both hands around the top of my thigh as tight as i could and told my puzzled mated to "hit me there" as I looked towrds my thigh and shouted "Ive been stung and its getting higher" A few seconds and a plethora of punches to my legs later, a dead squashed was fell out the bottom of my copius trouser leg. I pulled my trousers up to see the damage (yes young uns in those days you didnt need to pull down your kecks you coukd pull them up) and my leg had 4 or 5 stings in it. Much to the amusement of my pals who re enacted it for everyone who came onto the field. I strongly belive that was the day I started to react against flaired trousers, though it too untill the summer of 1978 before i did away with all my trousers of the wide variety and started wearing '"dranpipes" for good

Kind of need a bunch to be worth a trip though.
I may well put it on ebay and see if i get a tenner for it. I think its just suffering from dry (solder) joints. Otherwise it seems fine. After it warms up (10 - 15 mins) it starts cutting out for a few sconds them comes back on and off intermitantly. PS the LH500 is fine as ever this morning. Im so glad i bought it. 21.
The second thing is thing is everyone says how loud it was, well this is loud but not anywhewre near as loud as i expected.
I must in all fairness take back what I said re the decibells that you can get from this amplifier.Tonight I have just plugged in a new P bass that I'd not tried in the LH500 before (The CV jazz i normally play and my fave Westfield P bass, both are not 'loud' basses) I dialed it to volume 4 which i normally do to start, and strummed the strings together. Man i wish i hadn't. I nearly fell off the cab i was sitting on, when the sound wave hit me!!! The amp is loud as heck. Along with all the other great things, it pumps out mega decibells.
  22. Im asuming you already have the electrics shielded ?
  23. I waited three weeks for one of these to turn up here. In the end I bought a new one last week (minus rack case! Sigh!) ps: what rack case is that ? pps: these are great amps. I will definately be keeping mine.
