1. All watts should be measured in RMS (As any fule kno, otherwise its a chizz)
2.
Definately - ordered some for my Barefaced Compact & Midget on a Sun I think, arrived by following Thurs. Good hard-wearing quality products. Good prices too.
I certainly wouldnt state it correct without firsthand knowlege. But i do recall a forum member saying
The Compact with Roqsolid cover after a month looks beat up already. Chips out of the painted covering and worryingly, heavy scarring where a flightcase has rubbed against the Compact and the ply is seriously dented.
3. Either a few of the posts in this thread have a severe lack of smilies, or some people actually think The Orange amp company and The Orange mobile phone/internet company are the same thing ?
4.
yeh well its convincing me that Im not going to be one does anyone have a clue what the notes are? Theres a neat little triple in there, but try as i might i can't get close.
messge me, i have something that will definately help you. ( I think the triple you mean is B, C#, E ?)
5. can i be added to the list, im in chester. Hopefuly i will have a midget within 2 months, to compare.
6. Have just had a look at their website. In see they ask for £100 before building, which is fair enough, but thats all i have at the mo so ill wait a while before ordering, maybe two weeks before ill have the rest of the cash. That way hopefully it will just be ready in time for the payment of the balance. Ill probably go for the barefaced midget. Shame they are not doing the barefaced midget tour like they used to. I had my name down for over a year, but they never came anywhere near me before being recalled.
7. Thanks for the input guys. Looks like ill just have to wait a few months till my barefaced cab can be ordered. So that i can hear the best from the LH500 (do you have to order them in advance and/or pay for them or just pay a deposit?) Unless some BC lottery winner or well to do fellow low ender wants to buy me one? (me: looks around and sees an empty forum with a lone tumbleweed rolling along in the deserted, virtual street ) Guys. Hey guys wheres everyone gone?
8. I hope that lots secure, i would hate to see it on here one day after being burgled A few intruder/movement alarms might not go amiss ?
9. I bought a LH500 last week (from GAK £270) First impressions are, im very pleased with it. The tones i can get from it make it easily the best i have ever had. I will try and do a full review when i have had more time with it. Im not very knowlegable with this stuff, having only played bass for 20 months, so i dont have too much to compare it with. All i know is i like it. Two things have struck me as strange though. But first of all let me tell you that i have it going through my Behringer Combo, that i have pulled the amp from (pictured below. Ignore the arrows) Like i said i pulled the amp from it and was left with two wires with jack plugs on them, coming up from inside the cabinet. These had obviously been plugged into the back of the Behringer amp (pic two below) Those two jacks either side of the Speakon is where they went. The writing below it says 450 watts power output into 1x 4 ohms or 2 x 8 ohms The leads of the Behringer were only short so i had to get a male/female jack plug for the other one to reach the Hatrke, as the Harke was just a tad too big to go into the space left behind by the Behringer amp. Anyway three things are puzzling me. Firstly, the time it takes for the amp to go from being switched on and the time it takes for the speakers to become live. Its 15 seconds ( I have timed it) from the time the red power light comes on to the time when i can get any sound out of the speaker. Is this normal ? The second thing is thing is everyone says how loud it was, well this is loud but not anywhewre near as loud as i expected. The third thing is the bright switch. I'd been lead to belive this was a real scary type mode that wouldpeel paint off the walls. Well all i can hear is the treble going a bit higher, again is this normal ? I know its not an ideal situation and i am saving for a Barefaced cab, to do the amp justice. I hope that improves it some more. . My Behringer BX4210A combo used for the speakers (ignore the arrows) rear of the Behringer amp Inside of Behringer BX 4210A amp. Is that round thing just copper wire wrapped around an iron core? In other words not worth my time weighing it in ?
10. If its the intro you mean? When i looked at it i found it easiest to play it with the triple D note on the A string 5th fret, then to the E string with the the A & B notes on the 5 and 7 fret. With or without a hammer on whichever you find easiest. all close together and easy to move to and from. Not sure if thats exactly correct, but if it isn't, its still those 3 notes (just not necessarily in the right order, as Eric Morecambe said) that you mentioned so modify as needed. (pretty sure it ok though) At the risk of incurring the wrath of the Anti Tab Demon and his acolyte: A|---5-5-5-----|5-5-5--------| E|---------7h5-|-------7h5-7-|
11.
Once you`ve filled any holes or bumps, where there is going to be a visible seam in the tolex, spray the cab black, this will help make the joins less visible. MM
Unless your gonna cover it with green naugahyde as per my own plan.
12. Student loan spent on bass gear tsk tsk:) In my day you got given money to keep. It was called a grant. Eeeh it were all trees round here when i were a nipper, etc etc.Zzzz....... ps: greetings and welcome.

16. This is the song that convinced Joe Strummer he had to be a musician.
17. Aren't there now two Wishbone Ash ?
18. oh man how did i miss this ?
19. The 260C has a proper 15 inch Black Widow speaker inside it, from when they used to make them in the good ole USA (circa 1979 i think) The usual scratches and dings that an old combo will have, no idea of its history, probably been gigged at some time. As everyone knows though, that is pretty much irrelevant as these are rugged beasts, practically bomb proof, built solid as a rock. The Mark II bass Combo has duel inputs for two basses, a built in compression switch, the usual parametric equalizers that these Peaveys have, as well as pre and post gain, etc. Also a preamp output on the front. Not too heavey for its size, and it has some decent wheels on it. 130 Watts @ 4 ohms and it has an output for another speaker. It might not seem much, but those are Peavey watts! Will need to be picked up from chester due to its size. Willing to meet halfway or deliver for fuel money. I paid £100 for it 18 months ago, so thinking of maybe £60. Its worth more but i only have the box room to practice in and want to shift it to make room for other stuff. Here is a pic of one the same as mine, Will get a pic of the actual beast up tomorrow. .the manual: http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/80349150.pdf
20. Dragnet. the second album by The Fall. PS: re Police & Thieves. I much prefer The clash version, which i often play the bassline from.
21.
Or do both; a home-made stencil, small spray paint & it's marked for life.
Those instantly reminded me of the Bachman Turner Overdrive LP
22. i have the same problem. I find it almost impossible to play just off the beat, and keep time.
