  1. Cheap option, works for me at the moment, Adagio Flatwounds 45 -100, E bay price £14.99. Nice bright sound,no issues so far. Fitted to my Spector NS-2000/4 and Yamaha BB1100s. Using in classic punk rock covers band and rock covers band.
  2. This guy should have his own show on channel 5.
  3. Lol....Written in the middle of the night!
  4. Finding this a lot! Playing with a classic punk covers band at the moment. We are very good if I say so myself, wherever we play,we go down a storm, even with folk who think they don't like punk. I say punk,it's the lighter stuff,Undertones,Blondie,Ramones..pop really! Anyway, being semi retired,I have more time than most of the band to phone pubs,or facebook folk for gigs.I have manged to get a handful of decent pubs to take us on,but more or less the same after every gig,the original booker is no where to be seen, you phone during the week, they are not in,you get them on facebook, they promise to check their book, after another couple of goes, they say they are full to the end of the year, phone back in 3 months,or if they do offer something,it clashes with other gigs we have! I chased a certain gig up last year for weeks, managed to get hold of the person who claimed to book the bands,on facebook, they suggested I drop by t some point,I did and they seemed to forget who I was.I suspect the person on facebook was not actually who booked the bands...anyway,landed a date that suited the rest of the band, thats another story, getting folk to use the online calender, the gig is in 3 months....We do the gig in Feb of this year,go down a storm, the person who booked us,the owner of the pub is not in that night and I have to start over again with the phone calls and facebook messages, finaly get offered a gig, which we can't do,cause we are already playing, get offered one for this December, which we take. I know what will happen,as the whole thing will go on,with us being told, thats us booked up for the year, give us a phone next July.......flip!!!!
  5. Looks like someone will be paying over the odds for an old Encore p bass....
  6. His mum did look a bit odd as well.....I never hung around!
  7. I expected some damage, maybe a scratch or even cracked. For the price,I thought it would do a turn, just for bashing about the house. The guy put one picture up,which was out of focus. When I got the guitar, his mum was cooking something horrid in the kitchen and I didn't hang about. I think it might have been his dad....
  8. So it's nearly bed time and I am browsing Gumtree,as you do. I spot a bargain bass, about 20 minutes from my house. Its a short scale Squier Jaguar,in black, Quick as a shot I phone the lad who is selling and arrange to pick up the bass straight away! There was one picture up and some sort of tape, the electrical type black tape over the headstock, but hey, maybe that's what ''the kids'' do to their guitars these days. I think, well it may be something for messing around the house with or even a cheap backup bass to keep in the car.As you can see,the lad had decided to do some mods on it.....What the actual f**k!!!!!
  9. Bought the one on the right, off here! The one on the left came to me as a part ex yesterday,It came from here,I believe originally. Seems to have passed trough a few owners since then. It's a Basslines Musicman type pickup. I think the p bass one is as well,I know it's not the original. Both play and sound great! Didn't know until the bloke arrived at my door what colour it would be,I forgot to ask. Will put it through it's paces at next practise and see what's what!
  10. You can never have too many. Meet the twins.
  11. Has anyone noticed it's all going a bit slow these days? Loads of stuff on E bay,not much selling. Gone are the £10 starting prices right enough, everyone coming on with buy now,or best offers. Not much in the way of bargains. In saying that,I tried in vain to sell my Tokai Hardpuncher bass recently. Bought it for £400 about 5 years ago,not interest at £450 I was asking. Dropped to £399,but nothing so far. I guess that's what they call a keeper now...
  12. Thought about that.....lol.
  13. Pity about the headstock,other than that,aye,cracker!
  14. Ditto....The nearest I get is to play in Emergency Exit, doing classic punk covers by the likes of Blondie,Ramones,Sex Pistols,Rezillos, etc Oh to be 17 again!
  15. Seen another bass, can't mind what it was. The matt finished looked as if it marked very easily, fingerprints, etc and the chips show up a lot.
  16. Great weekend,managed two gigs in one day,despite bad weather.Great fun. videoplayback.mp4
  17. Tried one out recently,Buttercream finish. It's on my wishlist.
  18. Well, practise over. It worked out well! Everyone in the band noticed the difference. The guitarist loved the new amp smell coming off it! Well at least it wasn't smoke! Big difference over the Fender Rumble. Plenty of lows and highs. I went for mid settings on the the amp,had the compresser on and the high/treble on. Very well balanced tone, could hear every note I played. I better brush up on the set! Looking forward to gigging it over the next few weeks.
  19. Taking the cabs and the Veyron amp to practise, before this weekend gig. Had a go in house today, nice range of tones. Very happy with the cabs and the amp!
  20. I think they already had those before the Warfdale one's came along. Same stuff.double the price.
  21. Funny you should say that...Just about to sell mine. I am now going back to separates now after using the Rumble for the last couple of years. I found it lacked bottom end a bit. Certainly very loud! Added an extension cab,1 x 15. One of the cheap Wharefdale ones from Andertons. Made a massive differance and the rumble seemed to come alive! Now adding another 2 x 10,then getting a veyron amp. So,give me a shout if you are interested. I am in Falkirk and will be putting it on sale at £350. Comes with cover.
