  1. Aready reported 2 day's ago and pointed out to the seller what it was. Con man!
  2. Well it has arrived, very pleased with it. It looks amazing in the flesh! Can't wait to get it out next practise/gig. Thanks to Colin, top man indeed!!
  3. Made in Indonesia,Squier Standard p bass.
  4. The nut width was,if I remember fairly slim. Not as slim as a jazz.Never got round to doing the bass up. I was going to uprate the pickups, maybe change the neck for a Mighty Mite. Played it a few times, but as I had a few others, including a Rickenbacker,it just never got gigged. I ended up selling it to a guy in Edinburgh who bought it for his wife who was wanting to learn bass. Thoughts on it? Yes well made, good looking, sounded fine,I had it at a band practise. Worth buying? Deffo...go for it!
  5. Very nice and a very nice Sub 4 bass!
  6. Sorry to hear that JimRodford of Argent ,The Kinks and The Zombies has passed away this morning. Very sad. Great guy and bass player.
  7. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road/Elton John.......Dee Murray,bass.
  8. In my last band both the drummer and guitarist had deps who were sh*t hot. The original guys were good enough players, but both lost focus due to the usual work, family, issues. Their playing started to suffer and the new songs got less and less. As for myself, boredom set in. I believe the singer felt the same. But as we had all become pretty good mates,I decided to leave,as did the singer. The band was finished. Happy to say we are still friends. In our case it just would not have worked trying to replace the guys,we never even thought about it.
  9. A few years ago, after a break,I decided to get back in to playing in a band. I bought an old Trace Elliot 1x15 combo. I thought it would be a good idea to pick up an old flightcase for it off e bay.It used to belong to Sinead O'Connor.....or at least, her bass player. There was loads of labels from airlines, etc on it. It had seen a bit of the world. I decided to use it at a small hotel gig in Pitlochry,Scotland. Lifted it out of my van, which I had to bring as it would not fit in my car.Wheeled it along a bumpy pavement and up a ramp,in to the lounge we were playing in. As it was just after 7pm,there were folk having their evening meal. I pushed it between a few tables,to.....I was going to say,the stage, but it was really just a corner in the room. I misjudged and rammed the flight case right in to the back of some old guys chair, causing him to spill his soup. The guy from behind the bar came over and said ''Get the f***ing thing tae f*** oot of here or your no playing!'' Needless to say,I never used it again and it lay,for a few weeks in my living room. After my wife also telling me to ''get that f***ing thing out of here'' I sold it on ebay.
  10. Check this Musicman Sterling Bass,on just now at £18. I had a bid in myself, contacted the seller twice, with no reply. Something not right,so I bottled out. Check out the low feedback score and no info, also,he has been on ebay for years, not bought very much.Or maybe this is the bargain of the century!!
  11. Usually when we hit the stage, with our best song first, setlist, all tuned up and ready to go,it is ruined as we have not told the barstaff to turn off the background music. Trying and get the barstaff to turn it off is a nightmare,as they always seem to be in the middle of serving folk. It wouldn't have been the first time that we have finished the first song, hopefully with clapping and cheers,to find the background music still playing away....
  12. I messaged the seller,to point out that I thought it was an Encore, having owned a few over the years. He said he had had the guitar over 10 years, paid about 300 for it and ''had never been sure'' thats why he had not listed it as a Fender. Went on to say it had been in a couple of shops over the years for set ups and they have never questioned it. Certainly plays and sounds like a Fender. ...Well,as I said,I owned a few of these made in India guitars. To be honest, they are good enough and sound fine. Well built,a bit heavy. I thought after giving him the info,he would have seen that the guitar is worth £40 to about £100 not over £400 that the current bid was.I was hoping he might have altered the listing at least, but no.....Reported it to ebay. Seeing as how he started the bid at £450 and wasn't sure about it being a Fender just seems bull sh*t!
  13. Used to own one of these,an old Encore,I believe, made in India. Not bad at 40 quid,oh..I think someone is in for a shock![attachment=245574:Screenshot 2017-05-18 at 23.51.06.png]
  14. [attachment=245573:Screenshot 2017-05-18 at 23.51.06.png]Messaged the seller,as I used to own a few of these guitars. This is either the made in India,Encore P bass or the Sunn Mustang. Either way,not a Fender and not worth over £400 that some poor bugger has bid!
  15. Tell the guys to get a grip and turn down....don't think the punters want or need an ear bashing!
  16. Noticed recently a lot more buy now prices and not many low stting prices! Yes,I wouldnt want to see my stuff go for next to nothng. Sometimes you have to take a chance though, but where have all the bargains gone! In fairly recent times I have picked up a fair few guitars under £100. There was one the other night,a Vester P bass. Looked the part and it was a steal at £95. I don't really need another p bass at the moment though.
  17. It's Only Rock and Roll by The Rolling Stones. Nice easy song to get levels and settle in to..
  18. Yip,I used to have a Westfield bass in yellow and black. I will give it a go as is,or maybe change the pickups, but at the moment,it sounds just fine!
  19. Took a punt on a Fazley P bass guitar from BAX. Wasn't sure what to expect as there was mixed reports about their service and quality of certain items. Had a look at their online site and came across some nice looking bass guitars by Fasley. I had been looking for a certain colour for a project and they had a yellow, with white scratchplate. The pictures seemed to show,a nice looking bass. But the price of £70 made my mind up. I ordered on Saturday abd received it Wednesday. Well packed,in two cardboard boxes. I was really only looking for the body and was not expecting it to be up to much at that price point. Wow! What a cracking bass! Well finished,no jaggy frets. The strings are pretty rubbish and dull sounding. I had an old set of rotosounds and stuck them on! What a differance! Ok its not an american Fender or anything like that, but sounds and feels like a decent Squier. The neck is pretty nice, the finish is almost not there at all, very little tint or anything, but that aside it feels fine! I was going to buy anothe neck, maybe change the pickups, but I think I will give it a bash at the practise on Wednesday,if it cuts it and the band don't laugh too much at the colour,I may give it a bash at the gigs over the weekend! No pictures at the moment,as I am in my bed and can't be arsed, but have a swatch at the BAX site! Anyone else had a punt at these guitars yet?
  20. I had a chat with the singer the other day,he said the drummer bass drum was only coming through a monitor that the drummer had beside him. Maybe it was being picked up by other mikes,no idea.... Just seems the carpets and curtains may nave soaked up our sound, causing us to have to turn up louder to compensate. Plus he said he wasn't concered with the folk at the back of the room, they don't complain,it's the folk sitting or standing nearer to the band who do! .....I think I'll just try and turn down a bit!!
  21. I came away feeling pretty bad about the whole thing,we had a brilliant gig the night before in a pub. Great sound, playing and the punters loved it. I came away on a high! Then the next night I question the whole idea of me going out playing when I really should be in the house resting! Anyway,I still love playing,so.....onwards!
  22. As far as I know, the mikes were checked before I arrived, mine was set up when I arrived, but I never checked it,only plugged it in, The singer then switched everything on before we started. He had had a few beers by that point, but wasn't pissed. Maybe it affected his judgement,I don't know, but it seems we had a bad balance to start with.As for the bass drum mike, the monitor was very, very close to it...we had the same troubles in a small venue weeks ago,I was being as to turn down as the sound was booming. I turned off at one point then we noticed it was from the bass drum mike.Maybe the drummer should not mike up,which would force us to come down in volume to his level.
