3. Get the guys to help you out.....you hold the nails.....just say,''when I nod my head, hit it!'' I'm sure they would love to do that!!
4. Cheers David.....As you mentioned,I have something else winging its way to me....Another Tokai! Black jazz/p bass with gold hardwear. Very much like the jazz version I used to own ..before being skint at mortgage time a couple of years past. Unlike the previous one, which I got for £90 off e bay, this was a bit more costly. The seller wanted £460. I put in a late night, drink fueled bid of £399. Which was accepted the next morning. The only thing was,it's the wife's e bay account and the message came through her e mail,on her phone as we were out shopping on Saturday. Let's put it this way.....I had a bit of explaing to do!! Anyway,my loss is Davy's gain! Punted the Peavey and also another bass I had kicking around, covered the cost ok....result! Oh,just checked the paypal info on the payment details.....seems the seller goes under the name of John Giblin!.......I wonder if?.......no.....it can't be!!!.....
5. Seems to be a top notch guy by all acounts,as I said, took a stab at one of his p bass guitars, got it for £175 off e bay last night. GAS at its worst !
6. Just pulled the trigger on a bass off e bay by Jamie Davie, who it seems makes stuff for Quo,Smokie,Robert Fripp and many more as they say! Had a look at his website and some of the stuff looks ace, mainly guitars though! Anyone here have a guitar or bass built by this guy. I believe the cheaper ones are made up of parts he buys in,but that doesnt really bother me if its a good one!!
7.
Same for me. The cable sits nice and flat against the body and through the strap. Doesn't get caught up on sticky out bits of the drum kit.
Forgot about that!!...Its often the case that the stage is so small,or room so tight that we bass players often nearly end up in the drummers lap at times! And what about the racket off the cymbals about 6 inches from our ears!!
8. Lord Muck And The Trumpets Of Doom.........
9. Played in Galashiels,in Scottish Borders tonight, plenty of drunks good and bad! The usual mad woman dancing about, knocking drinks over, knocking chairs over, falling on her arse and stamping on our lead guitar players pedals, causing the guitar to cut out. He said the last person that done that got a belt in the mouth, she got off lightly with a mouth full of abuse! Happy Christmas fellow bass folk!!
10. Dave Markee...

12. I reported it today as well.....This is a joke! Someone has paid nearly a grand for a guitar worth about £60!
13. This guitar has just sold at the asking price of £995.......someone has been well and truly f***ed!!
14. Seller reported to ebay.....He me be unaware, but certainly seems to believe its the real deal, going by the description.
15. Nice one! Let us all know what you think of the Foundation! I put mine together yesterday(pictures to follow) The neck is from a Millenium so needed about 1mm taken off,but it did fit in the pocket ok.Sounded good, didn't have to adjust it in anyway, fitted some flatwound strings and its good to go. I will use it on Friday night at my next gig. The neck and body came from Ebay as Peavey UK are closing down their operation in Corby. So loads of stuff coming up just now. I know the neck was made in Indonisia, but not sure about the body. As far as I know, the Foundations are all USA made, but maybe some of the later ones were made abroad. It is old,new stock,so brand new body and neck for total of £80! As I am a bit skint at the moment,I was not popular with the wife for buying these items plus a Peavey Fury bass in the one week, although I did sell off a guitar to help fund the new stuff. But as we need a new kitchen at the moment, the good news of the Peavey guitars did not for some reason cheer her up. So,after trying these guitars out,I will decide what I am keeping in my collection....maybe all of them!!.....or maybe not!
16. Cheers.....I was going to keep the flatwounds on it,but decided to test it out at a gig first. Other guitars in the house at the moment are Musicman Sub Bass (USA) Yamaha RBX 775,The 2 Peaveys and an Encore P Bass, early 90;s made in India model.
17. Pictures of the Fury and Forum. The Forum is active and at the moment, still the best of the 2 guitars. Used it at a few gigs now and it has a monster sound!! The Fury is passive, reminds me a lot of an Ibanez Blazer bass I had back in the day.
18. Well the Fury arrived today (pics to follow) It was as described, with a couple of small chinks on the body. Might get some white touch up paint or leave it as is! Feels pretty light, not as heavy as my forum. As it was strung with flat wounds,I didn't really get a true idea of the sound. Sure it had that p bass thump, but I need it to ring out a bit more,so first job, some round wound strings. I noticed a slight rattle coming from the headstock, turns out the wing type bit of the tuner is loose on the stalk. It had been glued in at some point. A wee repair needed there then....superglue time! Volume control has a slight crackle,so scratchplate off and a squirt of electrical cleaner hopefully will cure it. The neck is very thin, but nice and straight. That's about all for now, will have a go later when the strings are changed, then it will be used on Friday night in Edinburgh at the Central Bar Leith. Will it be a keeper......ask me after the gig! (I say that all the time,I will get bored with it,it's a given!!)
19. Took a chance on the neck, and the body....new old stock,so maybe a nineties thing or thereabouts. Seems Peavey are moving out and these are the things that are on e bay. Keep your eyes peeled peeps.
20. Mmmm....odd! Well, not really...Turned up at the venue,a pub on the outskirts of Edinburgh with the drummer. We have recently joined the band and had not been at this gig before. The barmaid told us we had a choice of either setting up in the large, empty lounge, which didn't seem to having any heating on,or in the smallish bar area, which was seperated by sliding doors. We decided on the bar after speaking to the band leader on the phone. As soon as we started, punters started arriving. Mainly a young 20,s and 30's crowd, they were rather refreshed at the start time of 10.30.Within minutes we had them dancing...well,maybe it was more drink fuelled than music driven, they seemed to be enjoying themselves. First issue, dancing too near the band, arms and legs going everywhere, causing the keyboard player to fear for his rig as he held on too it a few times during the first few songs. Then the usual clowns coming up to speak to the singer in mid song, asking for songs we don't do! Oh I forgot to mention the drunk woman who, while we were setting up,told us to to f***ing get on with it and sing something! Anyway,it's been a while since I played this kind of sh*tehole,I looked around amused and it brought back a few memories! After one person too many stood on his effects unit, grabbed the mike and tried to sing, the singer told everyone to move back, whilst the barmaid moved some tables out the way to make way for the dancers. I suppose it was our own fault setting up in the bar,but the gig went on untill we stopped at 1.45! Spoiled by a few stupid folk and the general don't give a f*** atitude of the staff,it was a pain in the arse. During the break the drummer had been rattled by some young guys in the bog, whilst trying to answer the call, the demanded he hurried up and let them use the urinals, when he said he would do so,when he was finished, they decided to turn the hand drier on hi,causing him to flee, peeless in to the car park. I think it was maybe a bit of banter getting out of control, but he thought it may have led to something more serious.....I thought it was funny, but hey, that's just me!! Nothing new as far as young idiots with far too much to drink, not knowing how to behave when out...oh,then again, there was a few old drunks as well, one who would not give the keyboard players girlfreind any peace and another, who clung to the wall, sliding down it as we made our way through,Love Hurts.....He managed to hit the floor, and I don't mean dance,as we got to the end of it. All in all a pretty sad Saturday night out for me although I think the telly was gash last night and I got £50 and a free bottle of lager for my trouble.
21. Guilty as charged!! Maybe it's that old inbuild tight fistedness that leads us to those wonderful bargain USA made Peavey bass guitars! I'd rather think we have an ear for a bargain rather than eye! My first Peavey, bought a few months ago on e bay cost around £42. It is a red Peavey Forum and was covered in stickers. Managed to get them off and now gig with it. It sounds great. I play it through the TC Electronic 1x15 bass combo. Mainly pub gigs,it does the job.Soon as the Fury arrives I will get pictures up of both and hopefully the body and neck of the Foundation bass will arrive before the end of the week. I don't plan on buying anymore Peavey bass guitars.....(The wife walked in the room!!)
22. You might not be surprised to hear that it was me who outbid you on the white fury last week! It is in Edinburgh at the moment, awaiting delivery,so should have it tomorrow...sorry about that!
23. I too have bought one of the necks from e bay and a complete new,old stock Foundation body. Hopefully the neck will marry up with the body ok,jsy took a chance! But at £30 and £50,it would have been silly not to.....well, that's what I told the wife!!
24. It's grey. With the usual rubbish scratchplate. I did have a Sub before but had to sell it when skint. I put it on e bay and it was bought by a guy on Northern Ireland. Recently it was mentioned on here,as someone bought it fom Cash Converters. I contacted the new owner and due to the colour, scratchplate and markings,we confirmed it was my old bass. Needless to say the guy wasn't parting with it. Yesterday I was just killing time and spotted the Sub for sale on Glasgow Gumtree.I had put aside some money to help us over the holidays. Note to self......stop it!!!!!
25. She is fine..we bought a suite of Gumtree last week.....that makes us even......I hope!
