I left a band I’d been playing with for 16 years around a year ago, it was a jukebox band (which was great fun), we had a list of 120 songs or so and would get the audience to call out what they wanted to hear. The band was well received and almost always got repeat bookings. We all got on really well and there were no egos and very little bickering or disputes (if any tbh). i left to join a guitarist I’d played with about 5 years previous - I felt things were a little stale with my main band and also we had reduced the number of gigs we were doing, we used to gig 3 or 4 times a month when I joined, latterly we were doing 2 a month maximum and sometimes less. There were no gigs in August as that was considered holiday month. Did I make the right decision? Do I miss the guys? An I happy with the new band? Depending on when you ask me (my mood) would depend on the answer I give - an I entirely happy - no. Would I go back to the jukebox band - maybe. Have the band said anything to you regarding your performance? I’m my own worst critic and often I’ll over think things. If I were in your position I think I’d be wanting a heart to heart chat with the band leader before making any assumptions that they may be looking to replace you - better to discuss any concerns either of you may have and clear the air surely?

I had one of those too, logo definitely wrong and those definitely came with binding and IIRC they didn’t have through body stringing.
-
As others have said, there’s a few things off, no block marker at the first position, also IMO it’s really unusual to see blocks with no binding (although I think I may have seen one or possibly two over the years), pickup spacing looks off too

Sarum’s Lot played at Qudos Bar in Salisbury last night, quiet-ish when we got there, but filled up to the gun holes as we set up, played okay, a few minor screw ups from all of us (which is unusual) but the crowd were very kind to us, partaking in lots of singing and dancing.😎 We must have done alright because the land lady booked us for NYE 2026, so that’s a right result, Qudos is our favourite venue to play in Salisbury. Next up we are at The Bull Hotel in Downton on the 31st for a Halloween party, fancy dress is the order of the day, our guitarist is taking things very seriously:

Was it Jeff that said about your strings? 🤣 Great service from them, but as you say, a bit stuck in a time warp.😁

Is he the guy with the tattoos? If it was then agree - he was really informative and a really nice guy to chat to.

I was at that show, my mate managed to get front row tickets right in front of Geddy - bloody marvellous they were.
-
I used to be in a band with a guitarist called Rory Lyons & a drummer name of Luke Warmbathe - my name was dull by comparison so I was known as Willy Stroker🙄

I agree that it doesn’t seem like a cash in exercise and, as stated before, it strikes me as two lifelong friends that have shared interests wanting to do what they love doing - putting on a show for their fans. We all know what effect performing in front of a crowd can have on your soul, imagine being denied that feeling that you’ve lived and played for as long as these guys have. I for one am pleased they’re collaborating with other musicians, yes it’ll be a little odd not seeing Neil behind the kit, and it’ll be odd if, as they’ve suggested, they bring in a keyboard player to free up Geddy to concentrate on his bass playing. If I can get a ticket to one of the Toronto dates, I’d be there in a heartbeat.

We, Siren, played at The Constitutional Club in Chippenham Saturday night, crowd was a little on the small side but they responded well and made it a good night. Used my TT800 and BF big twin II, chose to use my surf green MIM P Bass which sat very nicely in the mix - bloody hot in there!

I can't imagine not having a bass out ready to pick up whenever I get the itch to do so. Sorry to read you're feeling that way - let's hope it's just a 'blip'? 😞

That Shaftesbury bass plays really nicely to be fair, and as stated by @Happy Jack the crack in the body hasn't gotten any worse in the 10 years I had it. Good to hear you're pleased with it Jack - and nice to meet n chat over lunch too. Thankfully no Rick related GAS has struck at the moment, I'm sure it's only a matter of time though 🙄

Two gigs for me this weekend, first was with Siren at The Boathouse, Bradford-on-Avon on Friday night - turned out to be a busy night with lots of faces recognised from our previous visits. We played pretty much all of our setlist but were cut short when the new manager turned on all the house lights and stage lights at the end of a medley that we do, we took that as a sign that he'd had enough, and so the crowd that had been up for a party all night, were calling for more to no avail!? A bit of a strange end to what had been a great evening really. Sadly no photos to share, as I was heading there straight from work I used my 'easy' rig, TT800, Big Twin II, Geddy Jazz with 70's P Bass as back up. Saturday night saw Sarum's Lot play at The Devizes Inn in Salisbury. We were asked to setup in the darts room. This was the exact opposite of the previous night where space was somewhat limited, so was a rather intimate set up for the drummer and me, leaving the guitarist to enjoy loads of room on his side of the room - in fairness to him he does tend to boogie and is much more animated than me! The crowd were up for a good time from the off, loads of singing & dancing, even some air guitar! This band plays classic rock covers and we were asked by a young lad whether we could do 'I believe in a thing called love' - we don't do it but duly had a go, and smashed it right out the park (even if I do say myself!). A thoroughly enjoyable gig with a great crowd - we all left buzzing 🙂 Same gear as previous night. I really enjoy playing there - great venue!

That’s actually nicely done with the white pick up covers - I’m usually not a fan of the white covers, but in this instance it seems less invasive somehow😎👍🏻

First time I’ve ventured into this area of the forum - that’s a proper bargain, sounds great and very nice playing👍🏻😎

EH UP EQ [not weird or wonderful just wrong]
Thor replied to p4ul's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I guess it depends on what you’re playing it through, I remember my AH350SMX had a very similar EQ shape which sounded great to my ears, and my band mates ears (one of whom is currently, and for the last 10 years or so, has been Pete Townsend’s guitar/amp tech). YMMV -
Sarum’s Lot played Qudos in Salisbury last night, it’s one of our favourite venues to play, easy load in and parking, nicely run pub, well organised and most importantly very busy. Last night didn’t disappoint. We’re a local band and I’d advertised it lots so was really pleased to see the place busy when we arrived and many more friendly faces turning up whilst we set up. We played a few, new to us, classic rock covers and some slightly middle of the road pop rock covers that all seemed to go down well, despite one or two moments, there was plenty of singing and dancing and lots of positive comments at the end. Unusually for us we decided not to take a break as we wanted to get through as many of the songs as possible, so we ended up playing from 20:45 - 23:00. I used my Geddy Jazz, TT800 & Big Twin II, sounded great in the mix (to my ears at least). We’re back there in April and we’re really looking forward to it😁

First song I learned from start to finish was ‘Sunshine of your love’ by Cream. First song I ever gigged was ‘ move it’ by Cliff Richard and The Shadows.

We (Siren) played at Tuckers Grave Inn near Bath for their annual Wassailing Ceremony. Despite the cold the campsite was booked up around a fortnight ago, suggesting it would be a busy night - it didn’t disappoint! We had people dancing to the soundcheck and to every song we played thereafter. I used my Oly White 70’s reissue P Bass for the first set and My Geddy Lee Jazz for the second, used my TT800 through my Barefaced Big Twin 2 G3 - sounded great to my ears! Loads of positive feedback afterwards which is always nice. Next up for me is a gig with Sarum’s Lot at Qudos in Salisbury - one of my favourite venues to play so really looking forward to this one.

That’s good to hear you’re chuffed with it, I know you’d been waiting on one for a long while, but didn’t realise quite how long…time flies n all that😊
