1. Got to move fast round these here parts - now traded to tombboy.
  2.
would you sell the SM57 seperatly?
tbh I've now listed most of my gear on Ebay, this is the item number 120516837586, there are currently 17 people watching it although no bids as yet, I don't like removing a listing once it's been listed, however if you want to PM me with an offer I'd consider doing so.
  3.
hi, have you got pics of everything included with the lights, and a price? cheers, Pete.
Hi Pete, My other set of lights are in storage with bass bins, If you're interested then I could probably get pics within the next day or two, but just so you're aware exactly what's included: Two alloy tripod stands (similar to speaker stands) One lighting rig (with the 4 round PAR56 type lamps) attached to a crossbar or T bar (as per photo) One lighting rig (with 4 square/box type lamps) attached to a crossbar/T bar The necessary lighting control leads/harnesses (2 of) The Ryger AX4 Lighting Controller/Chaser The necessary gels/gel holders for all lamps If you're interested I reckon a more than fair price for the lot would be £200 ono, so let me know ASAP, as I shall more than likely be thinking of listing on Fleabay this week (or gumtree). Thanks for the interest, Cheers, Pete
  4. Quite a few pm's and a fair amount of interest generated but still up for grabs at the moment! BUMP!
  5. QUOTE (BigAlonBass @ Jan 8 2010, 03:54 PM) Unfortunately it was just the location that did it. If you'd been any closer, I would have bitten your hand off. All the bargains seem to be "Dahn Sarf" at the moment. Well we could always negotiate a delivery arrangement - I'd be quite happy with £20 of fuel, a bacon buttie (or two) and a cup of coffee! What do you say to that?? Have you got the kettle on yet, also I prefer tomato sauce & brown bread....BUMP
  6.
If you do, let us know how it sounds after you´ve given it a proper going over. Very keen to see what people think of it, been contemplating this one since I saw the youtube upload.
Well i took another trip down the shop and parted with the necessary funds - had a little play with it this afternoon before gigging this evening, I tried to sneak it out on the floor without any of the other boys noticing - no chance of that! It is about the size of a wah pedal and when stomped on it sounds great - you could even say sublime! Early days yet but the other two guitarists definitely were in favour of the sound this generates - as well as creating the fuzz type sound it also increases the volume somewhat as well, I do like the rotary control on top (very easy to use and the whole colour change gives an idea of how intense the fuzz is going to be), it is possible to get some nice hint of distortion/fuzz (very subtle) but also it is possible to get this thing feeding back when you get really excited. I like the input gain and output gain controls being recessed on the sides of the pedal - avoids any accidental changes of settings, havent read the manual yet to see what the underside settings are for - also if holding a chord for a reasonable length of time the pedal acts like a phaser (the chord starts that whole cycling type thing and it is possible for the sound to grow and grow) As said it's very early days for a critical review because I still have a bit of the new toy syndrome about me!
  7. Hi All, tried one yesterday and was well impressed with it, reproduced that whole Muse/Hysteria sound exactly - only trouble was 'er indoors was sat outside in the car and as mentioned it's fairly big (about the size of a wah pedal, maybe a tad bigger) - couldn't really have snuck it in without her seeing Might be taking another trip down to the shop today though...shhh. £120 fairly hefty price tag too, just trying to weigh up how much use it's likely to get ....sounds great though.

  10.
Hey James, Thanks for your feedback - I'm a sensible/balanced sort of guy - just a bit out of touch with pricing of used gear it would seem! I appreciate feedback good or bad - I think it's important to listen to other peoples (possibly more informed) point of view/perspective and then choose how to act on any information received, I'm kinda dissapointed to think the cabs would go for so little seeing as how they perform (and believe me they do perform - certainly get my jeans flapping when the band's cooking)! You've certainly given me plenty to think about for sure, and for that, I thank you. Such a PITA having been forced down this route in the first place but then as Mrs Thor says, health comes first! She's a Nurse btw - so no blagging her then! OK Folks, so it seems the TE Head is fairly priced at £400, any offers on the table for the whole rig - the forum is yours!
Come on now folks, don't be shy
  11.
Good choice on the new gear as well !
Hey Gareth, Looking forward to trying out the TC Electronic Amp and cabs - having done loads of research I think they sound exactly what I'm after /just the ticket, but hopefully will find out on Sunday when I'm planning on going to try some gear out. (Weather permitting of course!)
  12.
Being as you asked, the pricing on the head is fair, but the cabs are fairly overpriced if you want a quick sale. I had a similar model and it attracted plenty of attention on here, but failed to sell at £60. Food for thought if you deseperately need rid? Hope this helps! Cheers, James
Hey James, Thanks for your feedback - I'm a sensible/balanced sort of guy - just a bit out of touch with pricing of used gear it would seem! 13.
I had the 400W version of this amp....yep...it was awesome. VERY loud...and a great clear/punchy/bright Trace sound. Bump. Good luck.
Hey, thanks again for the kind words - this Trace Rig sounds the muts nuts (and if it wasn't for buggering up two discs that are likely to need surgery soon then I wouldn't even consider selling this gear!) BUT! Listen up guys I'm a reasonable bloke who NEEDS TO SELL this gear and the other gear listed in other musically related stuff to fund the purchase of something like this: http://www.bonnersmusic.co.uk/buy/TC_Elect...Amplifier_Combo and/or maybe one or two of these http://www.bonnersmusic.co.uk/buy/TC_Elect..._12%22_Bass_Cab and one of these http://www.bonnersmusic.co.uk/buy/TC_Elect...0_Bass_Amp_Head I REALLY need some lightweight stuff since blowing my back to buggery, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you're at all interested talk to me Price reduction of head to £400 - you know it makes sense! Worth every penny all day long Hup to it
  14.
Hey, do you have a rough idea of the value of the Bass Bins? I'm interested but I'm not sure if what I have is of enough value. Zach
Hey Zach, I've posted a link to show the style of bins that I have (not a brilliant link as the website is no longer operational), but at least you'll have some idea of what you're considering buying, they are the real deal & cost me new just over £500 so I guess I'm hoping for around £250 - how does that sound for starters? http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...sa%3DN%26um%3D1 Let me know what you think either way, good or bad, I am realistic so let's chat, if you're local you're more than welcome to come and have a look at them, Stay cool, Pete
  15.
Good luck with the sale, great head and that is 300 trace watts, lol, head alone is worth £250 to £300 easy, especially with the built in comp!Good sounding cabs too.BUMP.
Hey thanks for your kind words - I do hope that folk realise this is probably one of the last "proper" TE's, do you think the pricing is realistic? I spoke to the Bass Centre (et al) and e-mailed them photos of the head/cabs and they suggested that to shift this I should price it as I have...had a few peeps view the ad but no one make an offer or even ask if price is negotiable?? I know TE had a few problems a while back but this head is seriously bombproof! Anyway, thanks for the bump dude and also whilst I'm here I may as well mention my other post regarding a load of odds and sods stuff I'm looking to trade - it's in other musically related stuff.
  16. Just a thought, before I put my PA gear on Fleabay I thought I might as well give a run down of precisely what gear I have and am thinking of trading, so here goes: Peavey Reference Quality 2314 Mixing desk (14 channel desk with two monitor sends) Zoom RFX2000 Digital Reverb/Multi FX Unit Sony MDS-JE520 Mini Disc Recorder (useful for recording gigs/providing ambient music before performance) As you can see the mixer, digital reverb/fx unit & minidisc are all built into one homemade professionally tailored protective MDF case - this stacks neatly on top of the power amp: Peavey PV2600 Power Amp (900 Watts RMS per channel into 4 Ohms, 550 Watts RMS per channel into 8 Ohms) Again you can see that the power amp is well protected in it's own tailor made MDF case. Peavey HiSys2 RX 15" Black Widow speakers with horns There are a pair of these speakers but for some reason this forum is restricting the number of photos I can post? Anyway, this picture gives a good indication of the condition of the cabs. Peavey UL118 Sub Bass BW Speakers Bass Bins (These are currently in storage so photos are possible but may take me a day or two - they're in very good/near mint condition) 8 Par can Lighting rig with Ryger AX4 Light Chaser (4 lights shown here) Shure PG58 Vocal Mic Shure SM57 Instrument mic Shure BG1.0 Vocal/Instrument mic Shure BG3.1 UniDirectional Vocal Mic (Particularly useful for recording) Pair of alloy tripod speaker stands for when using just the HiSys 2's Pair of alloy poles for when using bass bins and top cabs Obviously all the necessary cables for speakers/lights etc are included. Needless to say but as with all my gear it is all in good working order, I do take very good care of my gear. Ideally looking to trade for TC Electronics RH450 Head/Combo or perhaps a Genz Benz Shuttle/Cab or some other lightweight bass amplification head/cab/combo - or a nice 4 string bass - talk to me?? Make an offer - you may be surprised!
  17. As some of you may have picked up on another of my posts on here "Doctor's Orders", I am VERY reluctantly offering my bass rig for sale - this rig has effortlessly served me (without fault) for the last 5 years and I am convinced that, handled with the same care that I have lavished on it, it will continue to perform for many years to come. The amp is in remarkabley good condition without so much as a scratch on it, the only "fault" with it is that one of the small black plastic blanking covers that cover the screws which hold the amp into the casing is missing - I'm sure if this was to bother the next owner he/she could probably source one from TE for a few pence - see last picture. The cabs are in good used condition - bearing in mind the physical size of the cabs and the fact they're often loaded into the van first and then have gear loaded along side/on top of them, yes they look a bit tatty but there are no tears to the carpeting covering the cabs and there are no dents in the front grille/mesh cover of the front of the cabs, they've just been used for the purpose they were intended for. The speakers themselves look good and sound even better - phenomenal (sp?), the horns in each cab are in good working order. I've very often had compliments from other musicians and sound engineers that the sound this rig produces is enough to "make your knees tremble"! I'm sure that anyone who knows anything about Trace Elliot will realise that this amp head is seriously well engineered. The price I'm hoping for this beauty is £475.00 and I'm looking for £150.00 for each of the cabs. Being a newbie on here if you'd like some feedback for me, please contact Josh (that's his username on here) as he's recently purchased my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string, I'd like to think he'd vouch for me....anyway, any questions or more photos you may require, please shout and I'd be more than happy to help out. I may be putting this on Fleabay in the near future but thought I'd try here first as I really do care about my kit and would like to think that it's going to a good home, also, anyone localish is more than welcome to come and have a look at the gear in the flesh (so to speak)/give it a try out I make a decent cuppa too!
  18. It's as much as i can do to sing backing sometimes, although funnily enough, just lately I've started to sing a couple of tunes (Fields of Gold - Sting & You do something to me - Paul Weller). I'd like to try and sing a bit more but I really do find it hard multitasking - ask the Mrs!!
  19. Thanks for all the feedback guys- I think I will give the genz a try only as there's 1 in stock not too far away from me and I've got to start somewhere. The TC RH450 sounds very good/appealing too, I wasn;t aware that some of these companies would even consider loaning a cab or two out?? I liked the look of (and the customers feedback section) of the barefacedbass website too. It seems that lower back problems are more common than I thought with us Bass Players - obviously years of humping all those heavy cabs/amps around. Anyway, I think my new guitar purchase will now defo be put on the back burner until I've got my head around my amp/cab situation first, as there's no way I can continue to lift those 4x10's anymore. Thanks again for the really positive and provoking responses - lots to think about (including Physio), I'll keep you posted with testing/progress and likewise if anyone tests something they think may be worth a look at/right for someone in my position I'd appreciate that too! Cheers Guys!

    Up to £500

The only advice i would offer is try as many basses as is possible...and don't let the shop assistants make you feel at all guilty, it's your hard earned cash after all, if at all possible I'd ask if they have a demo of the same amp as you're running too - or at least something pretty near to it and set the EQ up as you' like it, some will say play them flat but how often do you do that?? Totally illogical IMHO. Finally don't be swayed by the name tag either, deep down and honestly I reckon most of us are snobs when it comes to what name appears on the headstock - one of my most played and gigged guitars is a std Squier Jazz Bass, it's got a great neck & action and I love it and certainly would never sell it!
  21. I'm not a happy bunny at the moment as I've been incapacitated in Hospital and am now (thankfully) back at home - so much so that I missed out on the band's New Years Eve Gig (thankfully managed to get a buddy to dep tho'), anyhow to cut to the chase... The Doctors have told me that I've managed to rupture one of my lower spinal discs and prolapse another - needless to say I'm under the influence of some pretty good painkillers at the moment  (and the backspace key has become my new best friend as it seems to be getting a lot of use correcrting most of my spelling mistakes), the prognosis is not all bad (but I have been referred to the spine team) but certainly, given all the internet research time (I mean bed rest), I've been considering getting rid of my existing bass rig and replacing it with something more lightweight and manageable. I currently use (and have done so for the last 4 years) a Trace Elliot GP12SMX 350watt head and 2 Peavey 4X10 TX's - and have been really pleased with the sound I get from this rig, a lot of my bass player buddies and bandmates (guitarists included!) have always complimented on the sound I achieve too , anyway, I've been doing some research and this has caught my eye/would seem to fit the bill perfectly (in principle anyway): http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid...=610&cid=95 Anyone on here had any experience (good and/or bad PLEASE!) with the said unit at all? or indeed I'm open to any other recommendations? Bear in mind my pockets aren't bottomless though won't you! I'm just tad concerned that obviously I wont be able to achieve the same sort of sound I'm getting now - I had thought that for bigger veues I may buy another GB extension cab to get the amp working as intended? I suppose I should mention that my main gigging bass is a 1995 USA standard Jazz Bass although I've recently purchased a '75 P Bass with maple neck, Badass II and Hipshot Xtender (which I've been unable to try out at any decent volume yet! As always, thanks in anticipation of some feedback - good and bad please!! Don't hold back! Happy 2010 to all! Pete
  22. Thanks for all of your input guys, to be honest I think I'd pretty much talked myself out of the whole Ricky thing at the moment -even though I've now convinced Mrs Thor actually they do look kinda sexy. I think it's more of a fashion statement (and have also had the boys in the band pushing me towards getting a Ric as they're considered uber- cool), I'd also be concerned over losing quite a few quid if/when they ever go out of fashion. I'd actually forgotton that I'd borrowed a 4001 from a mate of mine probably around 12 or so years ago and can really relate to the comment of having to work really hard on a set that i would usually cruise through, I found that the painted neck really did cause for a lot of drag particularly when getting a bit enthusiastic - mind you I was a lot younger and obviously much less skilled/adept at playing then too (not that I'm terribly gymnastic/skilled now mind you!), and also that it did sound kinda flat compared to my regular Jazz at the time (probably down to lack of tweaking/familiarising myself with the guitar before hand). I do love the sound of Bruce Foxton's/Geddy Lee's playing, but of course they quite often played a Jazz (Geddy is the god of the Jazz IMHO), and that's the sound I strive for so I do think I'm Fender through & through. I've recently agreed to sell my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string (about as exotic as i have been) to another user on here, so I think i shall take my time and play a few guitars and see what takes my fancy, I'm certainly looking forward to trying out the'51. I suppose the fact that I've always done quite well financially with the Fenders also has some minor bearing on the matter too! (Although for me it's all about tone, tone & tone and ease of playability) Once again, thanks for all of the input - a nice even balance of for & against - Cheers and a Very Happy & Prosperous New Year to all.
