I like the sound of these basses, bridge pup is nice and grunty, and neck has nice crisp punch. This is a slappers delight IMHO. Neck is straight, and I've found a guy who has done a great set up, so has nice low action and new strings and he fitted a new jack socket as the old one was dying. Comes with strap locks and leather strap. No gig bag I'm afraid, but it would be packaged nice and safe'n'cozy for posting. Also happy to deliver or meet within 25 miles of North Dorset, or come and collect. John
Pm'd
  2.
More owners than The Littlest Hobo!! GREAT cab.... have a bump on me Pete!
I know I love the sound of it too, just at the end of a night it is a tad heavy! Should've stuck with my original plan and bought the 151P to start with! If it doesn't sell then I'll probably just hang on to it & get the guitarist to carry it out at the end of the night , he's only been stood there posing whilst the rythm section have been doing all the hard work all night! Cheers Jamie!
  3. Hi, I recently aquired this from another basschatter and have realised it's just a bit too big/heavy for my poor old knackered back, so ideally I'm looking to trade for a Markbass 151P Traveler 8 ohm cab. Otherwise for outright purchase I'm looking for £400 (includes a padded vinyl cover). The cheapest I can find on the web is £665.00 (with no cover included), so I think my asking price is fair. The cab is in perfect A1 condition & sounds fantastic with 102P I also have. I have removed the Markbass badge on the front of the cab (but still have it if anyone wants it). Am based in Wiltshire and happy to meet 1/2 way (within reason). All the best, Pete

  5. Parcel to go - type it into doogle and hey presto - really helpful people, I just sent a microphone and some other bits to Ireland.
  6.
Prices are high, stock is low and rarely refreshes (one shop has been trying to sell a Gibson Thunderbird since I started seriously playing bass, it seems)
I can relate to that! The shop that's most local to me has been trying to sell a Washburn semi-acoustic bass for the last 15 years or so - lovely bass it is too but the problem seems that even if you ask for a deal they don't seem willing to move an inch?! Surely you'd think they'd have some sort of write down policy in place? If I were to buy it I'd want it restrung since the strings on it are corroded!
  7. Guys just be straight and tell them what your upto Yeah right, Mrs Thor had me sussed the other week, she stubbed her toe on the Fender Sub Lime fuzz pedal I had stashed at the bottom of the bed she howled "I thought you were only borrowing that for the weekend", I replied I did & liked it so much I bought it! No trouble apart from being told to move it from under the bed

Well I've had the Stingray 5 for a couple of days now and boy does it growl! Absolutely mint (A1) condition exactly as descibed by Rich. Thanks for your hospitality - just what I needed after driving all those miles - a nice cuppa, and also letting me loose on those lovely basses of yours. A really nice guy, genuinely talented (busted some cool licks). Many thanks, Pete
  10. Steady on chaps - I'll be blushing soon! Top men both of you, cheers Rich & Jamie
  11. That's a crime! Unplayed?? Would LOVE it, such a cool bass. (Thinks: what to sell??)
  12. Oh boy, that really is a thing of beauty! I really REALLY fancy one of these!
  13.
The dude that runs Electric Ladyland in Bristol seems to be totally uninterested in getting your money. Don't think he fibs, but he might just not want to sell you stuff when he could be telling you the stuff you want is overrated rubbish and he has 50 of them out back instead.
I can relate to that - he's certainly a character, lord knows how he makes a living?
  14.
Right chaps (and ladies of course), I've bumped this back to the top, am keen to offload the rig as a whole or just the cabs (am thinking I may keep the amp as a spare), any sensible offers of cash or trade will be considered. I just had this finish on Fleabay last night and it failed to meet the (what i thought was a very reasonable) reserve price. Would be particularly keen to trade for another bass, perhaps a MIM jazz/Warwick bolt on/ (Semi) Acoustic bass plus cash adjustment either way. WHY?? Cheers, Pete.
Shameless BUMP! Gigged New Mark Bass Rig on saturday - awesome sound from such a lightweight rig - really pleased!
There might have to be a pick guard swap to break up the sea of unrelenting black, maybe black/grey pearloid, or as it is more affectionately known, Mother Of Toilet Seat Although any replacement would have to modded for the slightly different shaped pickup. These off shore models do play and sound amazing, I'd go as far as to say that this is better than my old 3 band US Ray, the neck certainly is.
I like it, I have a '70's black P bass & BWB pickguard - lovely. Well done, very tasty.

  17.
Yeah sure, Well if it is a fairly simple problem like that, and you or your friend could deal with it without too much trouble then I would be very interested. Thanks, Edd
Cheers Edd, I'll keep you posted. Regards, Pete.
  18. I've got a '92 Jazz Bass Plus V, lovely neck and action - that's a very reasonable price too! Bump
  19.
Hi, That is just the kind of bass I would be interested in, however I would rather not have to pay to have some work done on it e.g the active circuit, as it would be something I don't know how to do myself. Although if it were just a very simple soldering job or something like that, It wouldn't be too much a problem. Cheers, Edd
Like I say I received this as part of a trade yesterday, on closer inspection there's a blue wire that has become detached from what i can only think must be the battery compartment - looks like it needs soldering back on - I'm fairly handy with soldering iron but am a wee bit uncertain as to where exactly it goes (having never seen one of these in the flesh before). I'll try and do some research, one of my mate's is a luthier/guitar tech for a well known blues guitarist so perhaps I'll run it by him (if he's got time!) All the best, Pete
  20.
The Sex Pistols. "The great rock and roll swindle" The low slung precision, lack of technical prowess, but plenty of swagger. The idea that it only took a rudimentary ability to be able play in a band.
I can relate to that too! Should've mentioned John Paul Jones earlier too, the lemon song was one that I practised over and over - drove the parents nuts
  21.
Les Nemes of Haircut 100 played some great stuff , Mick (spider fingers !) Karn , Avant Gard Fretless at its best, Sting , great feel , does what the song needs, no more no less. Bruce foxton , so underrated and underpaid by the Modfather (allegedly !!) Peter Hook New Order , definitely had his own style. Lets not forget the great synth basslines created too , Human League , vince Clark Depeche mode , Gary Numan , Don't laugh !! frankie goes to hollywood - Trevor Horn's amazing production, New order . Thomas dolby, Could go on all day here but these are the ones that stick out for me ,
Couldn't agree more! That's my kind of era too, although when looking for inspiration/to push my learning/technique, I always looked to the Ox! Awesome talent/technique for me - made playing seem effortless and natural. Such a shame he's gone.
  22. Just a feeler, how'd you fancy a headless Hohner B2? I've just received as part of a trade, it works passively via XLR, seems active circuitry may need some attention? Just a thought. Cheers, Pete
Up for trade is my Ibanez EWB10ASEOBK 1201 Electro-Acoustic Bass. I am interested in a Musicman SUB, Warwick Corvette Standard and Headless basses particularly but I'm aware I might need to add some cash for any of these. I'm open to other offers as well. The bass is in good condition, with some minor nicks in the back of the neck. I have taken some photos amd can try and take some more detailed ones if required but my camera isn't the best.
