Evening All, I'd like to pick all you Ricky gurus brains if I may - I've just purchased a used 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 which I'm very happy with but I have a couple of queries regarding general operation and maintenance I'd like some help with please, so here goes: I've noticed that with the pick up selector switch set to the middle position both volume controls work independently, with the switch in the down position (neck pick up?) the Treble Volume pot doesn't seem to have any effect and vice versa (pick up switch up the Bass Volume has no effect on output volume) - I hope this makes sense and was hoping that some kind soul would confirm whether this is correct? I've also noticed that when playing hard (digging in) the E string sometimes will foul the pole piece on the the neck pick up and occasionally the bridge pick up pole piece as well, causing quite a loud clicking noise, the action is quite high (leaning towards high) so I was thinking perhaps I'll set it up to suit my preference, so that brings me to my next query - how do you adjust the bridge/tailpiece? I can see a couple of small allen key headed screws that look as if they adjust the saddle height and I think I can see some threads under each of the saddles (but can't figure out how to reach them to adjust intonation)? Are there any good websites out there that may give a pointer or am I better leaving well alone? I usually set up my Fenders with no worries but this seems a bit more tricky!? Many thanks in anticipation, Pete

I can relate to this, I had purchased new what I considered the bass of my dreams about 4 or 5 years ago - a Streamer Stage 1 5 string (£1700) - I'd had a 4 previously which was superb quality and sounded fantastic (should never have moved it on), the 5 in comparison was extremely heavy, sounded very dark and didn't cut through the mix at all well - highs/mids were simply lost!? I persevered with it and would always start a gig with it - however 5 or 6 songs in and I always found myself reaching for my back up bass - a Squier Jazz Bass, by comparison this sounded amazing - even the guys in the band noticed my fills and commented how good the Squier sounded. I still have it today and up until recently had always been my back up on stage - I recently sold a Marcus Miller 4 as again I was finding it would be lost in the mix and have since replaced it with a Geddy Lee Jazz - this I would say is on a par with the Squier - perhaps even marginally better. I'd picked up the Squier used for £130 - so definitely consider it budget.

Hi Mart, They really are great sounding cabs - I just find after a gig (we never have a break in our set and our longest gig yet is 4hrs 10 mins!!?) it is a bit awkward/heavy for my knackered old back! It was with the cab when I got it from MikeGatward on here - I think it may be one of the "Roqsolid powercovers" available on ebay at a very reasonable price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Padded-Cover-Fits-Markbass-STD151HR-/330527124273?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4cf4f3ab31#ht_5398wt_1396 I've just ordered one for my 151P too as I was well impressed with them. Cheers, Pete -

Hi Guys, Up for sale is my MarkBass 151HR cab and vinyl padded cover, I acquired this from a fellow Basschatter and it has served me very well. It's in immaculate condition - I have removed the MarkBass badge from the front of the cab as I do find them aesthetically challenging - just my personal opinion!! I still have the badge should you want it!? The only reason I'm selling this is because I still find it a tad heavy at the end of the night (I have 4 broken discs in my lower back) and have just agreed with another Basschatter to buy his MB 151P Traveller - will go very nicely with my 102P & F1 Head. (Cheers John ) So here's some pics: I'm asking £375 delivered to mainland UK, any questions please ask.

So here's my modest board at the moment: Just need to have a rethink to find space for Brown Dog & Agent 00Funk, I've also got an old EHX Octave Multiplexer which I quite like the Sub functionality - Hmm?

Just purchased a Brown Dog of the Chunk Systems variety from Mike - seamless transaction - thanks, Pete

I've just purchased a Chunk Systems Agent 00funk MKII from Mark - nice guy to deal with, trouble free transaction. Best Regards, Pete

Cheers guys, more research it seems - think I'll have to try and find a supplier locally and see what they sound like in the flesh. I certainly wasn't aware of the 3Leaf or the Prometheus Deluxe so shall be checking those out! Thanks again, I'll have to try and get some pics up of my home made pedal board - it's nothing like most on the show us yours thread but works for me.

Hi all, my foray into effects continues - I've been considering a filter type pedal for a while but am a tad uncertain as to what to go for - have seen demos on youtube of lots of different envelope filters etc and am more confused than ever!? Did like the sound of both Subdecay pedals particularly though. So thought I'd chuck it out here to see what's everyone's opinion/experiences/thoughts are - and maybe I've overlooked something, so am always open to new recommendations. Cheers, Pete. PS: Just purchased Chunk Systems Brown Dog so had also thought about their 00Funk pedal too - any thoughts?

No I hadn't considered running the Rat in a different position? I guess it could be worth it - as you can probably tell, I'm new to playing around with effects so I just kinda added them into the chain as I got them (without much thought as to the potential impact regards their position). Certainly worth considering - I am having some fun with them. You should have seen our lead guitarist's face when we ended a song and my rig was feeding back as well, if not better, than his! Priceless!

Appreciate the responses guys, the link for sfxsound looks really good - thanks for that!
