  1. I think it's an emulation based on what the preamp demo video said. Which is big old a shame.
  2. Again, Class D is solid state… but I guess you mean class A/B with a hefty toroidal transformer in an old school psu. In which case, that’s exactly the sort of thing I want, and am considering making a weird hybrid with the OriginAL preamp mated to an ABM psu and power amp If GK bring something out, all the better!
  3. @Mikey R and I probably still have ours lurking too 🤓 I was always stinky poo at electronics though which is a shame because I’d love to be able to do something like this
  4. Class D is, technically, solid state And this is class D
  5. https://www.andertons.co.uk/search?categoryId=&storeId=10151&catalogId=3074457345616676668&langId=-1&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&pageView=&beginIndex=0&pageSize=24&searchTerm=Laney+digbeth&authToken=&#facet:&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:& ETA: very very reasonable. The heads and the preamp are whispering sweet nothings in my ears
  6. The pedal is really intriguing, @eude and I are hatching a plan to go check them out as soon as Andertons has stock. The 500W head was intriguing too, until I realised it’s 4cm wider than the Barefaced One10 in its horizontal config. Can’t be doing with overhang 😅
  7. Thanks These are Newtone hex cores, 130 B string. It’s not too bad at all, good tension and tone. It wouldn’t compete with a 37” scale B but the construction of the bass helps immensely in the solidity of the B
  8. Not that I’ve seen!
  9. Funnily enough that’s what a lot of the market has been asking for since it was first launched!
  10. The preamp pedal looks great and at under £150 is a superb price. Could rival my love for the Ashdown OriginAL preamp 😱
  11. Looks interesting. An 800W amp would be the dream…: https://www.laney.co.uk/digbeth-bass-2021-06
  12. Aha - didn’t know the LH was that light! Nice 😎
  13. Forgot that one. That would be near the top off my choices too!
  14. @FinnDave has mentioned weight being a consideration so I think, despite my agreement that the LH series are a great option for simplicity and power, they aren't the right option for weight. My choices would be along the lines of the class D offerings Original 500, TC BH800, Orange Terror Mk2, GR Bass Pureamp, Quilter as previously mentioned
  15. Hey Laurence, I do - I have a glorious 5 string fretless built for me by a friend. I don't wish derail this thread with it but if you're interested all the deets are here: Mert (PS, I bought the OriginAL preamp pedal from you last year, still loving it!)
  16. I do. And yes, I am 🤪
  17. Holy moly 😍 I think I prefer the tort but both look superb 🙂
  18. https://www.andertons.co.uk/ashdown-original-500h-bass-amp-head ETA: that would be my immediate thought. It sounds lush on the Andertons YouTube video. And the EQ will feel familiar from the RM head.
  19. I’d go second hand and get a decent brand name
  20. Indeed. They’re good (I have a soft spot for Those Damn Crows and Tax The Heat) but they’re not next level good I don’t think sadly.
  21. Haha sorry I didn't read your original post properly It's certainly something to consider isn't it...
  22. Similar theme to this thread (though that is focussed on British bands only):
  23. There are a reasonable few decent new(ish) UK bands - whether they can make the leap is another matter entirely. To name a few...: Those Damn Crows The Dust Coda Tax The Heat Mason Hill Massive Wagons
  24. I would agree, I've had two basses with Barts and the are lovely, lovely pickups but rude is not a term I'd associate with them.
