1. 4 basses (will be 5 later this year when the Skelf arrives, depending on what happens with my Finn) 2 amps 2 cabs There was a time, a couple of years ago, when I had 4 amps. Not sure why, but they were all fecking awesome
2. New Years Day bump and price change - £1275 inclusive of U.K. Mainland shipping
3. Bump for photos
4.
Re the speakers. I have a ABM Mini 2 x 10, British made that has 2 Celestion speakers in it and they are black After reading this thread, I`m really missing my ABM 500 Evo. Might have to look into getting one again.
I think earlier Ashdowns used celestion, then they switched to sica to custom make to their spec, though the Classic Line was Eminence. I love the ABM EVO 500 I have, it's ace. Quite like the idea of the ABM1000 that Kevin has too, bet that's a monster.
5. Different drivers, made by Sica..... Blueline is a brand name Ashdown made up for the, erm, blue speakers!
6. How many of us now have an RM and an ABM as our two heads? Admittedly my ABM is an oooold EVO500 model but still the same principle applies I count three, or is it four of us?
7.
My ABM 410 (with blue speakers) is darker than my ABM NEO 210s (which have the Sica drivers) - so I'd guess it's mostly down to the cab.
Strictly speaking the Blueline speakers are Sica as well... just they are marketed as Blueline instead
8. Cheers Peter
9. Back up for sale April 2017 ACG Finn 5 Custom £1050 Linky to ACG site This is a very special bass for me and it's with a heavy heart that I have to put her up for sale. My first ACG custom, everything about the spec was carefully planned for months before pulling the trigger with Alan, who was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the build. First off, the reason for the sale is that I am a greedy pig and have a new Skelf SS 5 string on the way and needed to keep the wife happy with a one in one out rule. Additionally my car has just been booked in for quite possibly the most expensive service I'll ever have to face, everything seems to have come at once for it. So, with all that waffle out of the way, the spec: Finn 5 Custom 4 string body size (previously all 5/6 string Finns had a larger body though I believe Alan has now ditched that as this worked so well) 33" scale Swamp ash body, 2mm Wenge accent, Myrtle top 2x SB (single coil) pickups Volume, active pickup pan, passive tone with an active/passive push/pull - I wanted a pickup blend but a passive bass so this was the best way to go to avoid the phase issues you'd get without an active preamp helping out. This could of course be upgraded should anyone wish. Maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple neck with wenge fingerboard. The neck profile is the usual asymmetrical neck but shallower than Alan's usual carve. If you have played any of Eude's ACG basses you know what sort of thing I mean. The headstock has a myrtle front cap and ash rear cap Hipshot hardware, 17mm string spacing at the bridge and a 45mm nut Schaller straplocks Neutrik locking jack socket Currently strung with Newtone Diamond Nickels 45-130 Very lightweight 8lb 7oz Tonewise think jazz, that's what I was after with this bass. She can do polite and sweet or rude and burpy. If I could slap she would be a brilliant slap machine too. The bottom B is brilliant, I really don't think it suffers at all from the lack of an inch or two on the scale (depending on your preferences!) Condition is almost perfect, there's a tiny mark on the tip of the headstock which I'll photograph ASAP along with some other photos which won't do it the justice Alan's website does. Will be sold with a Hiscox liteflite case UK mainland insured shipping is £25 and if you're further afield please let me know and we can work out a price. Grab a bloody brilliant ACG custom at a significant saving on a new one
10. They're great amps, look forward to your thoughts after rehearsal
11. Got an ACG Skelf SS due somepoint in 2017, other than that unless I stumble across a pot of gold there'll be no change (for once!) at Merton towers.
12. I enjoyed that, now need to practice my bass faces as well as my playing
13. Nice. That little slap solo was awesome too. I really gotta do some practicing.
14. PS - much as I love the RM head (it's really quite stupendous), the ABM is something else entirely and quite sublime.
15. I have. My main Ashdown rig is an ABM 500 EVO - around 17kg - and an Ashdown VS212 which is a ceramic loaded heavy thing. But not as heavy as my old Trace V-Type combo, which was about 7/8 of the Sun's mass. It's ace. But I would like a lighter cab haha
16. Aha you're here as well! Quite interested in the 210 cab and I know there's interest in the 300 head too
17. Sounds like the sort of amp I would love
18. Easy, in my experience. Sensible handle placement and not a ridiculously heavy lump makes for a valve amp which is easy to manoeuvre
19.
There's only one answer to this. I'm as loud as the rest of the band. In practice that means being as loud as the drums.
Incorrect. It is our job to be louder than the rest of the band put together, thus ensuring a perfect balanced mix.....
20. Their service guy normally is only in Tuesday and Wednesday I believe, phone them tomorrow
21. Skindred's bassist uses Laney Nexus gear I believe, he absolutely loves it and has a monster tone
22. Sold Will a set of strings, very easy deal and great comms, cheers!
23.
Nah "Horse" was better.
Think I missed that one!
24. Still gutted to have owned two and sold them both when money was needed. I will own another one day I hope
