1.
I like the sound of the early ABM's, I currently own an EVO 500 with the white buttons ( before the II/III/IV models) and find it brighter and snappier compared to newer EVO III versions I've tried at my local rehearsal studio. The early ones don't have compressors etc and the tube preamp is more like a presence control rather than a grind/distortion. They can also be picked up fairly cheaply for such a powerful amp and in my experience are very well made and robust amplifiers.
Ditto all this except for the buttons as my EVO has black buttons
2. Walkabout...... mmmmmmm...... Great cabs these, can do anything you want
3. Not really. Alex is saying that not all 1 litre engines are the same, and that not all little cabs are the same. Whether his cab is the cab in question or not has nothing to do with it the way I've read everything!
4. The serial number is a good giveaway. I can't remember myself how it works but pop it on the thread and someone may be able to assist BTW I was disappointed, I thought the thread would be about the time you took your ABM out to dinner and it got a bit pissed....
5. £1200 incl courier within the UK mainland
6. Awesome amp
7. Boing!
8.
Martin, sorry to hear you're having to sell this and about your band. Hope you're ok. I believe I have played this (although there were a lot of lovely ACG's at our mini bass bash) and was mightily impressed with the feel and sound, especially on the low B. Have a "good luck with the sale" bump on me!
Cheers matey - I'm sure you did have a fondle of this amongst the many! Must have a beer soon
9.
Silly question, but still no trades?
Afraid not, sale only
10. April bump, back up for sale at £1200. My band's just fallen apart and there's very little prospect (or desire, frankly) to find another right now so I'm struggling to justify all my toys.
11. I love the ABM, it's awesome. Enjoy!
12. This used to be mine, I asked Ashdown to make the special grille. Great cab, great guy to buy from. Nothing to lose
13. Yep, Barefaced cab with a Ashdown amp = happy Merton. Brilliant pairing.
14. I acquired a One10 at the London Bass Show and absolutely love it. Going to get a second at some point and have a killer tiny rig methinks. Well, the cabs are tiny, the head is an ashdown ABM haha
15. I have the original cheap low output pickups from my Vester J and P basses lurking, will dig them out and send over
16. I need to mute your posts I think because I want an R400 more and more each time you say something about them!
17. My ABM head cost £140 including VAT last year, but it needed all the pots replaced, a couple of jack sockets and all the board interconnects as it has sat unused for almost 17 years and basically got dusty/tarnished.
Did he not say he had switched them around ? Unless he switched all four at the same time?
I don't read things properly at the best of time but I've been drinking wine, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

FX Loop

Switch the Send and Return - send goes out of the amp to the first pedal and return goes back in from the last
20. Sorry to hear that
21. Ouch. I played through one at the London Bass Show, was thoroughly underwhelmed I have to say. Which is good because Aguilar was an amp itch I was planning on scratching, now I can avoid it

23.
While we're on the subject of Living Colour, I recently snared a copy of one of the early US copies of Stain with the different guitar solos on it. I think its the fifth or sixth version of the album that I'd bought.
Oooh that's quite rare isn't it? Care to share any?
24. All his Instagram photos suggest he's still using old Trace gear - he has an ashdown B-Social and possibly a Retroglide but his gig rigs are trave unless supplies backline I believe I enjoyed the clip, his playing is amazing and his tone for such a light touch is amazing, I really have a lot to learn still
25. If you're replacing the drivers you can buy suitable impedances to wire it to 4 ohms so it makes no difference what's already in there
