2.
Yes.
yeah but have you released as many albums as flea?
3. surely buying a new RBV and having it refinished is cheaper than a shuker/sei? could be wrong, don't know how much they cost...
4. do you really blame flea for all this confusion, though? how many of you stick to using one bass for a whole album? and can you all remember exactly which basses you used? my band have only recorded about five songs and i can't remember what i used for which... i could probs tell you if i listened, but i cant remember from the top of my head.
5. it'd be interesting to see how many fender jazzes DO have 3TS under the pickguard.
6. i had one of these in silver when i was just starting out. they were a good bass for a beginner, or they'd be good as a backup bass, or even just as a cheap, good sounding bass. good luck with the sale!!!
7.
I never thought of that, with the cost of the bass as is and a refin at another 200 quid you could still have a sweet looking graph neck bass for 400, why has this not sold yet?! This would look the business in a nice vintage off white colour
WHITE?! nah... SPRAKLY BLUE SPARKLY BLUE SPARKLY BLUE!!!! the red's pretty cool, too.
8. have you tried simply raising the pups? on one of my basses the precision pup was too quiet for my liking so i raised it and its fine now.
9. thinner neck, thinner body i think. different body shape. no metal control plate. EDIT: you got there first machines
10.
Flea's next bass ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...peiron_H.4.html
they're those delano hybrids, aren't they? i played a shuker single cut with some of those in whilst i was were, they sounded great! so good that when my dad played them he ordered his shuker with them in.
11. someones gonna say it... one's to many for me.
12. how has this not sold?! i'd go for it if i had the money...
13. did doctor_of_the_bass say why you shouldn't put a p pickup on a fretless? my dads got a fretless precision and i think it sounds pretty good.
I'll try to help - i did write the piece after all! Can you record what you're doing and post it? Would be easy to diagnose what you are doing then. I'll have a look at the piece and post some notes on it later - can't remember how it goes at the moment. Stu
thanks, that'd be great. i'll try and record it asap and PM it to you.
15. me and my dad (simon1964) are probably going, not got tickets yet though.
16. ian dury and the blockheads - reasons to be cheerful part 3 does anyone know - is there a part one or two to this song?
17. play a different song...
18.
I was at Jons on Thurday and saw it there: I'm doing a build your own with him in September, a 5 string Jazz style and was looking at woods...
this is a great course, i did it a few months ago, i've posted the build diary earlier in this thread, i'm sure your gonna love it! did you choose a wood? there are some nice woods in the shuker woodstore if you like that kind of thing.
19. they might not even base a flea signature jazz on his white one, he might want something closely related to the musicman/modulus, like maybe a jazz with the seymour duncan musicman pickup he's using in his modulus atm and active electronics? i doubt a white one would sell all that well, they've just brought out that squier which is pretty much the same (60's vibe is it?), the american standard, the american vintage 62 (which is exactly the same as what flea's playing, except flea has no pickup covers), the classic 60s jazz, that all come in those colours, and thats the only thing that makes flea's bass stand out from a normal jazz, apart from the stacked knobs which the american vintage 62 has got. personally i think they'd do a lot better to make like a funky sparkly blue jazz with 3 band EQ and J/MM pickup configuration and BADASS II bridge (like on the modulus), something thats completely different to any jazz they've got out at the moment.

i've got an ibanez SR500 - i love it. i've gnoe on about it enough on basschat though...
21. I'm learning the Billy Sheehan style piece in Stuart Claytons book "Giants of Bass" and there's a tap solo. I've only ever done tap a couple of years ago when i first started bass lessons cos we were studying different techniques, but never actually used it in a song. Now when i try to tap this solo (or the little tap fill earlier on) im not getting a clean note, im getting a wierd sound. Its hard to describe the sound, but if it helps it sounds kinda like my bass has got wind. I've tried tapping harder and softer, it doesn't help. Can anyone help me?
22. cool, i like the look of these. squier are really getting good, aren't they?
23.
do black musicman bridges exist??
i had a copy on my old OLP. i might still have it somewhere. i bet you can get one from ebay or something.
24. Dunno if mine counts, cos i built it on a shuker course. But i like posting pics of it so here it is anyway... The full build thread is here
25. i'd say put a black bridge on and keep the black knobs, or chrome knobs and keep the chrome bridge.
