I have seen a couple of pre EB lefties over the years, strangely enough one of the others I saw was just as mint as this one, only a sunburst.

John is a top bloke. To this day I still feel like I wasted his time by asking him to quote me for a build then not going through with it as my circumstances changed. So friendly and knowledgeble, one day I will own a new built Shuker.

The German Custom work is completely bonkers. The Rockbasses on the other hand seem to be actual bargains. They use the same Hardware, pups and electronics as the German stuff (I know this from when I worked there) I mean active MEC's, a preamp, the 2 piece bridge and the machineheads are worth 250 quid surely. The lovely pink flamey body is free!

Never would have thought that the source for Japanese Fenders would be a good place to look for Warwicks. Some of the Rockbasses are incredible, I have never seen most of the colours on offer and they appear to have a raft of limited Japan only instruments, those pink, racing stripe and white models are nowhere on the Warwick site. Those pink flame top Corvettes are about 260 quid..... The racing stripe Neck thru Streamers for just under 400 quid... If I was a righty I would have already done something silly.

Fender Japan always get big thumbs up from me as they are manufacturing so many lefties. Be sad to see that end.

We had a thread like this years back, it is surprising how many BC'ers know off by heart what brands have what silks.

The best thing that ever happened to me was when I completely stopped caring what other people thought of my playing. I honestly don't care how good or bad I am. I just like plodding along playing.

I am 99.9% sure that used to belong to Chris from the Bass Merchant in Colchester. He had the top put on by a luthier and it cost him a small fortune. The work is flawless.

The old saying is true, you pay your money, you take your choice. I spent what someone referred to as 'a decent second hand car' on a couple of watches recently. Many people would think I am mad to spend that on something so trivial but I like it. If I had 20k going spare I would buy a 20k Breitling or Patek Phillipe. Anything in this world is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

Weight is a pain in the butt to give out, having worked for a few instrument companies we always struggled as they are made of wood. Wood density can vary massively. Approx values can be given but every now and then you are going to get a REALLY heavy one. String spacing again can be a pain in the butt, if the bridge has variable spacing (Warwick for instance) you never know what the store might do when they receive it. Perhaps the bassist in the shop loves close spacing and because its such a swift change to make they do it on a quiet Tuesday afternoon so they can have a good play.

I'm still quite a newbie, yet I mod. I chose to apply because I like the forum. I have handed out next to no warnings and do very little active modding on a day to day basis. That is in no way to say the team are not busy, some of us work their fingers to the bone on here, and let's not forget completely unpaid and in the very definition of unsociable hours. The forum generally self moderates incredibly well, in fact, and I hope the mod team don't mind me saying this, we say on an almost daily basis when discussing things that the goal is for problems to work themselves out, that shows this is a healthy community and you would be shocked how often they do. If we are being honest we in the mod team also fall out with each other, I had a blazing row with another mod a few months ago, 24 hours later apologies were made and it was sorted. This is an active community, differences of opinion happen and normally they are worked out between the members. I know some of you may just think I am toeing a party line (another politician reference!) but honestly, there is no secret handshake, no web of lies. We have open and accessible documents that break down the terms and rules of the site. We do this because we love BC, and at times it is a thankless task, but not most of the time, most of the time it is rewarding and enjoyable. I barely play bass anymore and yet still log on almost daily. That's just my 2 pennies worth. If people ever want to ask questions then PM one of us, we talk about EVERY suggestion, every complaint and every message we get.

[/quote] I very much doubt it would, Matt has had several projects going for a long while (as have Mark and Travis) they all seem to have that enviable musical ability to balance many things at once. The only one's I would avoid are those starter sets under names like Rockford and so on you see on eBay for 70 quid, with an amp. TBH that is more because I wouldn't trust the amp. I think we are very lucky today, my dad still has his first 6 stringer from the 70's when he began playing, and it is completely and utterly unplayable, and it cost him the thick end of a weeks salary. Now we can pick up fantastic quality from the far east for around the 150 quid mark. My first bass, a Washburn XB120 was about 200 quid, with a 20W Fender amp, tuner, strap and cable. It was then, and remains a lovely instrument.

I unashamedly admit Blink 182 are the reason I got into rock music. I must have seen them close to a dozen times in the early 00's and despite them being my favourite band was always left making excuses for why they sucked. For people who don't follow them they finally grew some balls and sacked Tom Delonge (guitarist, he of whiney vowels) a couple of months ago and as they had dates booked they wanted to fulfil brought in Matt Skiba of Alkaline trio (another band I adore) to take Toms place. No confirmation this will be a lasting arrangement, I pray they tour to the UK though. Blink always seemed to suffer from that amateur band problem of the bass and drums having to keep up with a bad guitar player. I have never used the stickers but plenty of people I know have. They seem to do the trick and look from a foot or more away completely legit.
