Best Video For Precision Pickguard Swap?
Delberthot replied to spongebob's topic in Accessories and Misc
I always hold onto the pot/jack underneath while I am undoing the corresponding nut in case the whole thing turns and loosens one of the wires. Same applies when I'm putting it back together -
Surely Tormato if we're talking about Rics?

They wouldn't want to mess with you in the first place if you could throw one of those. 😀 I still remember the sheer force required to get a Trace v-type 4x12" in and out of the car. Had the matching 2x15" as well. 46kg each. Everything I take to a gig comes in at about half of that, maybe less

Songs that make you feel uncomfortable - Part II
Delberthot replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
One song that I use to keep the stength up on my left thumb behind the neck is When The World is Running Down by the Police. It's virtually the same riff from start to finish. For co-ordination I use Killers by Iron Maiden - during the intro you're playing open notes in between each fretted note then the rest of the song keeps changing between staight bits and funny sections (you know what I mean 😀) When I'm practicing octaves then it's either Everybody Dance by Chic or Right on Time by the Chilis For right hand speed it's usually The Trooper by Maiden For both hands, co-ordination, octaves, pretty much the whole shooting match it's this version of What is Hip from 05:08 These are the songs I play to keep things moving between gigs and have been playing them as often as possible over the last year and a bit to keep the strength and dexterity up until we can get back out gigging again They're all uncomfortable to play in that each one tests different parts of the hands and the brain to keep things moving. The Police song can be a killer if you're not relaxed enough -
Status Graphite Replacement Neck Dimensions
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks I also emailed Rob Green and have decided to go with a Jazz neck -
I'm looking to build something special and would like a Status neck for it. There aren't any dimensions on the website for the necks so can anyone tell me if the jazz necks are 37mm, precision 41mm and if they would correspond to Fender necks - eg modern C, shallow C etc? or are they completely different? I can go between different necks no problem but struggle with super slim Ibanez necks so just want to get a feel for what they are like before picking.

I tried about half a dozen websites but couldn't find anything for 13th August

The closest I can find is that one of my favourite basketball players of all time, Magic Johnson, has his birthday the day after me. On Mother's Milk by the Chilis there is a song called Magic Johnson which features a bass player of some description

"Highly sort after" really gets on my onions

There was a band on the go for years called Hugh Reid and the Velvet Underpants. I used to play in a Sabbath Tribute band called Mac Sabbath but the name that always made me laugh was Slack Babbath.

I'd agree with the points above. The finish is incredibly good but the sound isn't very good. I think they've tried to fit as much as they could in there to a price and unless you wanted to upgrade components then you may ( or may not ) be disappointed. I briefly owned one before sending it back as it was easily the heaviest bass I had every played in my life. i generally don't have an issue with heavy basses but this thing was so heavy it was uncomfortable as soon as I put it on. The preamp was either fizzly treble or muffled. I just couldn't get eanything that I wanted out of it This was the one that I had

And some lemon oil on the fretboard 👍

Great price for Rotosound Nexus on Amazon
Delberthot replied to shoulderpet's topic in Accessories and Misc
I used the previous version of these called Spacers if I remember correctly in the early 90s. Show them a plectrum and the black stuff would flake off. Needless to say I only bought the one set -
For years I used Comfort Straps and anything padded with neoprene until I got one of those cheap, thin Fender straps. It was when i was watching an old Queen concert and noticed that was what JD used so I thought I'd give one a try I can't understand why they feel so comfortable given the lack of padding and the narrow width but I can use them happily for entire wedding sets.

The fingerboard oil survey
Delberthot replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in Repairs and Technical
I went into my local DIY shop in around 1990 and asked for a tin of lemon oil. I still have it and I still use it but maybe once every few years if the fingerboard is looking particularly grubby. I actually had no idea what it was until a couple of years ago so checked the label and it's lemongrass oil. My wife hates it, it smells like that perfume that old ladies wear -
I had a Melody fretless years ago. I don't remember how it sounded but it seemed to be very well put together

After a bass heavy set of headphones, whats good?
Delberthot replied to shoulderpet's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've got these as well but I would say that they are very balanced as opposed to adding any bass. That's what I like about them whether it be TV, MP3s or vinyl. Would the preamp that you are plugging the headphones into not have a bass control? -
Aerosmith's I don't Wanna Miss a Thing - there's a bit on the last chorus where it does the run down and I think that it's the fourth note that Tom Hamilton plays wrong, realises, then moves up a semitone. So good that I do it live as well when we play it

I had a gold bass made a few years back by Warmoth. Gold flake with gold hardware and frets. I may even have had Optima Gold strings on it at one point. Having said that I also have a hankering for a purple bass so it's the colour that I'd go for now

If I'm buying strings as a set then I use 45,65,85,105 but if I am putting a set together then I choose 45,60,80,110 as they are the closest gauges readily available to match the tension. For a 5 string I always try to get a 130 low B in a set if I can The 110 allows me to drop the E down to B if I need it. I always use D'addarios and depending on the bass EXLs, Prosteels or Chromes I've tried really light strings and really heavy strings but these feel the best to me
