    Bass arrived yesterday dirty, scratched and as soon as i tried to adjust the bridge, one of the inserts started coming out. Needless to say the offer of £20 discount wasn't enough as this was clearly the floor model so its going back. Bugger, its really nice as well and I ain't going to be able to find another one.

    While I have no doubt that this is likely to be a very well made bass having owned a few of the VM Jazzes, I don't get it. The Fender version has series/parallel switching, active EQ etc whereas this is merely another PJ bass. If Fender had designed this to have Squier produce a cheaper version of the Jaguar with active EQ etc then I could see this being a great bass but as it is, I don't see it adding anything. I'm not normally negative when it comes to these things, it has hotter pickups than standard but that's something that could be changed anyway.

    Found this which is meant to be based on the Fender tone stack and similar to the Alembic [url="http://www.diyguitarist.com/"]http://www.diyguitarist.com/[/url] click on Guitar FX at the top then scroll down to Modified Real McTube II I'm lost when it comes to circuit diagrams so I am either going to buy a pedal or see if someone can build me one of these

    I think I'll open this up for trades now. As you may have seen I'm after something that will replicate the sound of my Trace V-Type preamp in pedal form roughly. I'd be up for trades on: Tech 21 VT Bass EBS Valve Drive Catlinbread SFT Not limited to these - I may also be on the lookout for a Trace 2x10" cab as well. Not really looking for any basses unless pointy or bright. Oh, and nothing fretless thanks. I thnk I've got it out of my system now What've you got? I've actually never mentioned this but I've been learning two handed tapping on this and it sounds fantastic - helps that the action is super low

    I've heard that the tech 21 & Boss pedals aren't meant to be very good for bass - what about this: [url="http://www.bass.se/2009/valvedrive.htm"]http://www.bass.se/2009/valvedrive.htm[/url] apparently it uses a similar circuit. in fact f*** that, its over £200 Cheaper buying a Trace preamp
