1. C'mon - dare to be different
2. Bumparoony In case you haven't seen it, I am selling my Thunderbird complete with this bridge for £210 delivered saving you £80 on cost new.
3. I'm not big on pedals but one thing I miss is the preamp stage of the Trace V-type combo I used to have for certain songs for grit and mild overdrive. I could buy the preamp version and figure out a way to switch it in and out of my signal chain but was wondering if there was anything close to it in a pedal format. I've never found a usable overdrive/distortion pedal but something like this would be ideal - what about a VT Bass, would this get me there or is it completely different?
4. An ideal candidate for a headless conversion or an overpriced boat oar?
5. 8 stings are more managable - try to play too quickly on a 12 and it quickly does an impersonation or someone throwing a load of plugged in guitars down a flight of stairs
6. Bump before bed - feel free to offer me a sensible amount for the bass if your interested. The deal with the Hipshot bridge is about as low as I can go I'm afraid
7. Just checked GAKs website and they are no longer listed so looks like I got the last one
8. If you're going to be using the 2x15" with that valve amp it will sound proper old school. That is a fantastic cab Why not keep it as it is and get a 4x10" as well? Now that would rock Bugger - just saw the bit about you no longer getting it. You could pair the 2x15" with a MkV AH150. It'll only be putting out around 90 trace watts but you'll sh*te yourself at how loud it is
9. definitely worth doing it now it if its the blue one you want to get. I've missed out on the metallic red and silverburst Thunderbirds so far
10. Should be here on Wednesday :brow:
11.
I like the Cheap Trick blokes bass sound. Therefore I'm in. Just need another two bass rigs.
some Reeves valve amps and a few Rickenbacker speaker cabs
12. Well I ended up going for one of those new Limited Edition Epiphone EB-0 basses and coupled with the fact that I'm expecting a Goth Thunderbird shortly I've decided to sell my standard Epiphone Thunderbird. Quite a minty example. It has a small surface mark at the tip of the headstock but I think every Epiphone I've seen has that. There is also a small screw hole next to the E tuner for some reason. As you'll have seen in my thread about Thunderbirds being rock basses, you can actually use these for almost anything. I've been using it in my wedding/function band and with my rock band. The body is alder with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Net width at the nut is about precision width but the necks on these don't taper out nearly as much as Fenders do giving you a nice close string spacing at the bridge. I also have to mention that the action is loooooooooooow. it buzzes a bit when unplugged but isn't noticable when plugged in. I also have my Hipshot Supertone bridge which I actually bought for this for sale as well so could do both for £210 delivered. They usually retail in the US for around £90 so by buying it with the bass you're getting it for almost half price. Free postage to mainland UK or I'll take £10 off if you live close enough to collect it.
13. Bugger it. I've just bought one from GAK. I'll report back when I get it
14. been after one of these for years but find the usual colours a bit 'meh'
15. Does anyone know exactly how limited these are? I really love the colour but I know I can get a black or cherry one from Thomann delivered for less than £125 £25 isn't a lot but it is on a £150 bass.
16. in the 12 string bass playing world that's the daddy
17. I've noticed a big change in his voice in recent years as well and not in a good way
18. This is why I think you can use 1 bass for almost every style of music instead of having one for this and one for that. Unless its blatantly obvious that a song needs fretless or 12 string I'm confident I can fit my Thunderbird into any type of music A passive, pointy, £200 bass - long live this golden age of cheap, quality basses
19. Saw a clip of the Specials on that BBC4 programme last night and noticed that the bass player was using a Thunderbird http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrOi_mJFN8k About time they were recognised as more than big metal hair rock band basses
20. This looks like the last couple of things I'm going to be selling for the foreseable so I'm open to sensible offers on both items If the HIpshot bridge doesn't sell then there's a good chance it will end up on one of those new Pelham Blue EB-0 basses
21. I think it was Digital Village I emailed about these a few days ago - they're not expecting them in for another 6-8 weeks I'm having one I think Now who was it at GAK that used to be on here that could do us a discount?
22.
Still no interest even at £550, that's not right.
agreed - that's very wrong
23. I didn;t know how good the search was if it would bring up anything if I typed in Fender Bass VI or if it would do what Talkbass does and ignore anything with fewer than 3 characters giving me about 12000 threads for Fender Bass Funny that. Been here over 3 years and never tried that
24. fretless neck provisionally sold
25.
That looks awesome, bet it sounds the dogs bollocks as well! The only thing I'd do to it would be change that nasty 3 point bridge for a slightly more tasteful hipshot number, but of course that's just me.
I know someone selling a black one
