  1. My Ashdown ABM 500 was delivered today, it sounds excellent in my living room, paired with a Barefaced Super Compact. I'm looking forward to gigging it..
  2. I just weighed it at 8lbs. The same as my P bass. My Jazz is a pound heavier.
  3. I had two USA Stingray SUBs which I loved the sound of but did not like the, baseball bat like, painted necks. I recently played a second-hand Stingray, at my local guitar shop, that had a fantastic Jazz like neck. I believe it's the SLO version. Of course I bought it immediately! The USP is the Stingray's low mid punch, which sounds to me like the combination of a bass guitar and kick drum playing simultaneously. It's also very light.
  4. Yes I forgot about the Barony. Jazz on a Saturday and other genres on a Sunday. We're playing there next on Sunday 16th Sept. Come along.
  5. The Jazz Bar for funky stuff, blues and jazz. Brewhemia on east market st for cover bands. Stramash for all types of bands.
  6. I suggest you check out a Protection racket case. I bought mine for £85. It's semi rigid and offers lots of padding and plenty of storage space. It appears very sturdy and I expect it will last me a long, long time.
  7. Bought a used ABM evo III in flightcase for £134......bargain. I used to own one, about 6 years ago, and really liked the sound but I didn't like the weight. I went class D and the ashdown was sold. But I've moved house and weight is no longer an issue, as I can now park right outside my front door. So, when I saw this big boy on Ebay, couldn't resist the knock down price for a really solid, classy amp. I'm looking forwards to getting some juicy, analogue, bass action again.
  8. I do believe I now own your Jazz Bass. It's a beauty and I love it.Bought from Bass Direct about 5 weeks ago.
  9. I'm a big fan of Al Brown. I love the subtle bass playing of Alan Thomson.
  10. Gary Clark Jnr is a good place to start.
  11. Every Laney bass amp I've played, in rehearsal rooms and at gigs, has sounded great. I do believe their lack of kudos, is merely due to brand snobbery. I've owned many top brand amps and cabs over the years and laney holds it's own with all of them.
  12. You are right. Most of the engineers I've dealt with, have no idea that most bass amps have a pre/post button on the back.
  13. Melodic and groovy too.
  14. Now you tell me!!!!! 😮

  16. FFFFFFFF.......Fake!
  17. From what I could see on my phone it had truss rod access on the headstock. Geddy Lee basses have truss rod access at the body. At least the two I own do
  18. Tell me about it. I have a Geddy Lee, which is very sensitive to temperature changes.
  19. I used the 1x15 version for years and it never let me down. More than loud enough to keep up with a loud drummer.
  20. Any tracks with gated reverb on the snare, are unlistenable to me now.

Bought an amp from Simon. Great communication, speedy delivery and amp was well packed. A painless buying experience. Buy with confidence.
  22. Well I've just bought an 800 watt version of the GK MB500 I'm already using, from a fellow Basschatter. Hopefully the extra watts is what my SC needs, on those loud gigs.
  23. I was in a band with a continuous revolving membership. People would join, not be able to get to rehearsals due to family commitments, then leave. Over the 3 years I was with them they had 19 members. We never had a full rehearsal, with every member present. Not surprisingly, the gigs, what there were of them, were crap. Eventually, after a long 3 years of this malarky, I gave up on them and left the band, which ceased to exist not long afterwards.
