  1. I tune G, D, A, E. Although when I change strings I replace them and tune them E, A, D, G.
  2. I saw a bit of that and soon turned over. The Hyde Park show was much better and should be more like will be at Glastonbury and the Eden Project.
  3. Having owned various basses over my 38 years of playing bass my 92' 2eq Ray does it for me and is a keeper. It feels right, sounds right and looks great.
  4. I have a sterling sub as my backup and practice bass. Yes they arrt great for the money and I'm very pleased with mine. When I first got it and gigged with it along with my 92 2eq Ray it was noticeably different and even our drummer noticed the difference. It didn't quite have the Ray oomph but certainly did ok. If you are on a budget a sterling sub would do you very well indeed.
  5. Some years ago I solved my weak G string issue by pushing the pole pieces in so they were flush with the pick up. The G string gap is 3.5mm and the E string gap is 5.5mm. Made a massive difference for me.
  6. Bet it didn't feature the original bassist Craig who was bought out quite quickly after the made it?
  7. I won't be going to Glastonbury but will be seeing her at the Eden Project in July.
  8. Hi and welcome. I live in Devon too and always enjoy a trip to Mansons. Hugh Manson is always helpful and let me try out the John Paul Jones signature bass once which is very nice but out of my price range.
  9. Some years ago i did evening classes with a small group so i could learn how to sing. It was 4 part harmony and there were a handful of us for bass. I learnt to sight read when i was young for other instruments and that helped with the singing although my sight reading for the bass is not good now. As a result of the classes i then joined the Dartington Choir for a few years and performed some great pieces in a large ensemble in a fantastic hall. It is a great feeling when a large group goes for it.
  10. Been putting the bass drum through 15" full range tops for years and it works. The bass drum is the first to be lost in the mix so a little lift is what it needs. Now we have a sub and get that extra thump.
  11. Oh dear. What a loser!
  12. I used to have an AH200. It was well loud and I never turned it passed 2.5 unless i played and outdoor gig. I eventually rack mounted it in a 3U rack unit with a TE UV light underneath. It looked the biz but weighed quite a bit. It was quite a while ago and can't remember where i bought the rack ears from but they were proper TE ones.
  13. We go for bass drum through a sub run on an aux in our band. Sounds great and easy to deal with.
  14. I was thinking of that thread. I believe the OO showed the thread to drummer. More sure of the outcome. Back on topic a powered sub would do the job instead of his rig. Handy to for your bass too if required. Our drummer has a powered sub for thet larger pubs and that works just fine.
  15. You can through the audiology department. First I went for a hearing test and free hearing aids and batteries. The earplugs cost me around £160.
  16. Welcome to the club. You are doing the right thing. I went down the NHS route with my hearing test / hearing aids and earplugs. I have the molded ones but with the Elacin filters which are the same as the ACS. I still ride motorbikes and have found a decent adjustable touring screen really cuts down on wind noise which can get too much, even with earplugs.
  17. Welcome to the forum. I'm a regular visitor to Wales and always use the Rockfield road between Monmouth and Abergavenny when blasting around on my motorbike. The road goes past Rockfield Studios.
  18. Custom molded with ER15 filters for the. I also have ER20 filters for my motorbike. They both work well and let me hear the music clearly but at a much reduced volume (I listen to music through s headset on my bike). Ok I'm a bit detached but I can hear everything so I'm happy. The Isolates didn't do it for me. I have mild tinnitus in my left ear due to standing next to the drums for years. It's manageable but almost always there in the background. My hearing has deteriorated and I wear hearing aids.
  19. That chipper in Lyme Regis then?
  20. I've had TC classic 450 for some time and still enjoy it. Enough useful features to get me by. Can be a bit bassy or boomy in some venues but easy to roll it off. Paired with a BF Two 10 and im ready to go. I'd like to try a 4x10 but my budget back and boot won't support that upgrade. Good luck with your search.
  21. Some years ago we played a dodgy pub in Exeter. Only the landlord a handful of regulars. A couple of which were doing coke in the toilets and one had a really young child with him all night. I felt very uncomfortable and luckily it was our last gig there.
  22. Generic ACS or Flare Audio off the shelf will get you going for not much. The Flare ones cut too much guitar for my liking but other BC's are ok with them. If you are serious then custom moulded with ACS or Elacin filters are the only way to go.
  23. BBC 1 10.30pm. Set it to record. Thanks for the heads up.
  24. Enough of this log punning. What about the mods you can delete. Have any been deleted yet?
  25. Some need to be done as the original IMO. For us its ACDC & GnR. Plenty of others we do are either covers of covers or or own take on the song.
