  1. Should be up for most pub gigs no problem with those TE watts! If you are playing larger venues you will need PA support. Hopefully your back will be up for the cab.
  2. Me too. Find rehearsing difficult to get into but gigs are where it's at. Although at my age it's quality not quantity.
  3. Contact Alex at Barefaced. He'll advise you.
  4. Kylie set and bass sound still going strong. Will see her at the Eden Project on Tuesday so hoping for more of same.
  5. I have the Classic 450 which is similar to the RH but without some of the features. Soundwise I'm happy with it. The tube tone and spectacomp are great. Flexible 4 band eq is enough. Powerful enough for what I need and Di'd if needed. Paired with a BF retro two10 and I'm sorted.
  6. I'm sure we could go over that for you if you wish. There are plenty of us there to help.

2 venues we play at have hollow timber floors so I use mine at these to help reduce the on stage booming.
  8. Welcome to the forum. I wish there was one when I was your age. You have made the right instrunent choice.

  10. I used to be stage left but in my current band the guitarist said he always has that side so I'm now stage right. I'm ok with either. I can keep an eye on the drummer either way and tbh I haven't thought about being on the bass drum side until now.
  11. I'm having trouble finding the episode on I player. Can anyone tell me which one I should watch?
  12. Some years ago our singer accepted a wedding gig for a friend of his and said we'd do it for free and a bar tab. Myself and our drummer didn't know the couple. We kept asking what we would be getting paid but the singer was a bit vague. The gig was one of the best we've had and the free booze went down well. Got a taxi home and picked up the kit the next day. I wil not do a gig for free unless I personally know the person or its for charity. A free bar is ok but I won't drink anything like my fee. When pressed the singer admitted he really meant that him and the guitarist would do it for free as the know the couple but didn't clarity that with them properly so we all did it for free. This was later and after he paid myself and the drummer our fee out of his own pocket. He has not made the same mistake again and we discuss wedding and party fees between us before offering our services.
  13. This is now on our list of new songs its a monster baseline which I want to get right as much as possible but is going to take some work. There are a couple of decent YouTube videos. I'll check the one posted here as well. Wish me luck!
  14. Stereotonics back in the days when Stuart Cable (RIP) was drumming. Plenty of cracking songs from the first few albums.
  15. I haven't worn a watch for many years so can't comment. If it works for you then great.
  16. What a tool. Glad you had a good time though.
  17. We play Mamma a Mia and used to play Does Your Mother Know. Both have fun baselines to play.
  18. The AH200 is a quality amp. Had one for years. No problem with it getting too hot.
  19. Kylie at the Eden project in July.
  20. Hear Hear. Good call and some change too boot.
  21. The story is in Guy's book My Bass And Other Animals. Well worth read. I have a signed copy.
  22. There's been s thread about this series already https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/334668-tina-weymouth-bbc-bass-programme-in-jan/
  23. We have charged around £250 for social clubs which is about £50 more than the average pub. There are usually some particular times to work with. Unfortunately for us we have done 1 social club too many where the audience, or members!, are at the other end watching the sport on the tv so we aren't going to accept anymore as it not worth the hassle. Quality, not quantity for us.
  24. Hi there and welcome. Sounds like you have been busy on the bass alright. I have worked on some attractions in the Arizona Mills Mall near you - the Sealife Center and the Lego Discovery Center. I last visited when the Lego opened.
  25. I'd like to congratulate you on the over use of the word 'like'. Sounds just like our 19 year old son, talking, along with many other young people.
