1.
They were talking about him on the radio as I came home. I have to admit that I've never heard of him. I guess I missed out?
Massively important in 50's/60's collecting all the old American folk songs, promoting the country blues artists like Leadbelly and then handing them down to the next generation including Dylan. Was also banned from US TV because of his political activism. Funnily enough, not really the easiest of people to listen to these days, but the Springsteen album gives his work a nice new twist and his influence was massive.
2. Cut my musical teeth playing skiffle as a kid so did loads of his repertoire. Also love the Springsteen tribute which got me listening to Seeger's versions again - come full circle so to speak.
3. Toughest one yet - well done everyone.
4. Really like the country one. (rocker is good just not my bag). Hope you're going to carry on with a new guitarist?
5. Some on their site: http://www.casehardin.com/gallery?qt-gallery=1#qt-gallery
6.
Clarky's band All The Queen's Ravens .. Really clever 'fusion', amazing live too.
Sorry Clarky I actually preferred the previous outfit. Would love to see Dick Venom live, and then of course there's that Kit Richardson! But I think my current favourite is Burrito Bass' Case Hardin - looking forward to seeing them in Lewes in May.
7. You would probably be the only one who noticed the difference, but if you really do want to do this is there any way you can group the Jazz Bass songs together so you only have two interruptions?
8.
Presumably he's selling it to fund a photography course?
Meow
9. Done and asked a landlady friend who had this exact thing happen to her (and she lost) to share on Facebook.
10. Love it - thanks for sharing!
11. Facebook link doesn't find them and they have the world's quietest Twitter account. Not amazingly reassuring.
12. Just used UPS via Parcel2Go for UK delivery - the buyer wasn't there and they kept going twice a day for 3 days until they finally succeeded. Excellent price as well -£12 for 30kg.
13.
Yeah that's all cos of me! Seriously, you're right, I jumped the gun. However, in general terms what I said still has the cold ring of truth. People will talk all day about a music vid with Marta playing a Jamiroquai number, but barely give our own members' music the time of day
True, but huge credit to Paul, 56 votes cast for the December competition. The ghetto is starting to get attention
14.
(Seriously though, I'm very disappointed you've had no other comments. Peeps should sling their headphones on instead of playing silly word games in Off Topic)
Careful Nige, there are a few more comments over in the recording section! Great piece of work, I love the way it is made up of very distinct sections which all flow nicely into one another. Does it qualify for this month's competition?!
15. Been working on a cracking set of songs (from Aretha Franklin to Joss Stone via BB KIng and Cream) creating a nice laid back, bluesey, soulful set. The original idea was to do it with me on acoustic guitar as a duo but some of the songs we like cry out for a band treatment and I am finding it hard to cope (with dodgy hands) with some of the barre chords and could certainly not see lasting a whole set. We have a lovely drummer who is up for this and have space at my work (near Arundel) to rehearse. Looking for a guitarist who can fit the bill, nice relaxed rhythm work and a few tasteful solos. No Bonamassa wannabes please and nobody who needs to turn up with a few tins to rehearsals (sorry, previous bad experience)! We are all mature (49+) and pretty experienced and hope to get a gig set together pretty quickly. Thanks for looking, Mike [email protected]
16.
I wouldn't say I'm narrow-minded but... If he was playing a 6-stringed guitar (which is essentially what he's doing just an octave down) as opposed to playing a 6-stringed bass I wouldn't even say this was average.
Big plus 1 for this - have a listen again around 56 seconds to one minute - Julian Bream or Paco De Lucia wouldn't get away with that! IMO you have shot yourself in the foot with this clip and antagonistic thread title as it is evidence why people dislike solo bass so much! Now for some great solo bass playing hop over to the December composition competition - some great stuff from a couple of our very own BC membership!
17. Congratulations Douglas and Al - Douglas you got my vote as this was a composition competition (lovely alliteration there), and I thought that piece was excellent. Al, as I said in my earlier post, your playing is superb, and a well deserved joint winner (damn, just said joint winner - will have the drug squad all over BC now)!
18.
Baby is going to learn drums as I want a drummer in the future that I can control to some extent lol.
You have so much to learn All the best for June though. 50 this year, time to stop dithering and set my own musical project up.
19. No chance of bringing a bit of a funk feel to the rock band? Plenty of that sort of stuff out there just annoyingly can't pick any great examples right now
20.
Very surprised this has had no interest. It's a quality instrument, and good value.
Excellent instrument and great value but you are selling something very specialised so be patient!
21.
You guys DO know who Francis Dunnery was, don't you? He's certainly not famous for dressing down. Lol.
OK, I'll bite (see what I did there) - apart from a penchant for a Celtic football jersey what dressing up/down is he famous for?
22. No, but 30 days from the end of the month for a holiday home park we do always niggles. Is it a big name chain?
23.
I would like to see him make a Ric.
I had the exact same thought
24. Just saw this tweeted by Bob Harris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yJELwAWL-U
