Extreme? For the value of a custom shop Strat surely £7 is only going to be around 1%? Now that really can't be described as such?

Advice please large rehearsal studio - combos to replace Ampeg
I've had a similar conversation with a small rehearsal space and they chose MarkBass 2x10 because it had the option to tilt backwards in a sort of monitor format. However if you're looking for permanent installation kit then you don't need to pay premium prices for neo equipped, lightweight, cabs. My personal favourites for 'rock' cabs are Aguilar DB series. Well made, bullet-proof construction, plenty of mid-range punch and have that classic rock look. Plus you see them on stages all over the world so they are something younger players might aspire to owning. Downside is that they aren't cheap I hear good things about the latest Hartke Hydrive gear and they have a lot of high grade endorsees so another brand younger players would aspire to own.
Molan's possibly trying not to come on like an overbearing salesman (which he isn't) but I would have thought the Carvin combos that BassGear stock would be ideal for the B115s. -
Weller and Parfitts fathers knew each other well, played a lot of cards together. Parfitt loaned gear to Weller when he was getting The Jam together (some of which he never got back), think Rossi knew them in their early days too and was encouraging.
Yes Kev, fair enough and it was mentioned in the documentary but I still stand by it looking like a very awkward shoe-in to add a bit of stardust. Really wanted to like the doc as I like Quo, but this wasn't a good piece of work (although I will check out the full DVD version to see if that is any better).
Being as we are the Bass Playing Taches, here is my 9 day old effort rocking my top lip last night at The Gladstone in central London.
Good man - sory, bit light on the gigs but do have one on 29th when tache should be in its full glory!
Nothing against Cliff, but his appearance seemed an excuse to put a famous name in there when there was so much wasn't said about the band's story. What about, to name but one example, the original organist (Roy Lynes) who appeared in the early pics and VT and disappeared without even being name checked?
Sort of felt the same about Weller - "OK chaps, how do we give Quo a bit of credibility for the documentary"? (Love Quo btw, but agree with Michael, and felt the documentary was very poor, esp in light of some of the stuff we've been getting on BBC4 of late).

Thanks gents - done the trick, back on Firefox

Have PM'd a mod on this but not heard back - anyone else having issues with BC on Firefox? For me it has shrunk down to an unusable size. All other sites on Firefox are ok and BC is fine on ie, Chrome and Opera but I don't want to have to switch if I don't have to. Any advice please?
In 2010 I had a couple of job interviews at the end on November. No one had heard of it.
Now if it was like the one in your avatar..... Here's my first week:
Barrie - looking on TB there were a few reports of BX500s cutting out. Has this been sorted, do you know? They look like nice heads for a back-up...
Been using mine now for over a year and it has been absolutely fine all the way. Cracking amp - I'd almost have a wager that it wouldn't remain a back-up!!
-
We're in the top 1,000 UK teams - no idea if that's good bad or indifferent! Keep up the good work folks!!

Random injury causing pain and can't play bass?
Mykesbass replied to Greggo's topic in General Discussion
Usually the mums that get this but the common one is carpal tunnel syndrome. Often needs a minor op -
Raised £80 so far
Great stuff - my miserable friends have stumped up a total of £15 Still, the awareness side of Movember is just as important!
Cheers man. I started off looking a the BX500 and was planning on getting just that...i'd never heard of the BX1500/2000....but when i saw the prices on Bass Gear and the fact they had a sale i was like phwoooarr....one amp to rule them all haha. Yes agreed, shame there's not any Carvin bass cab distributors either ...i hear good things on TB about their 8x10 & also their 18" cabs.....as i say my 2x10 Carvin is brilliant and i bought it off here for very little too.
Could create some truly monstrous rigs - perhaps they're saving us from ourselves
-
We should also all have tache BC avatars for Movember?
Blimey Chris, give us a chance to grow them There you go - not promising anything like that at the end of the month though!!
-
I'm in
Welcome on board - that's seven of us now - well done Basschat
I missed this guys, I already signed up to a mate's page. Tomorrow morning I'll be clean shaven for the first time in eleventy-odd years.
Can still share the photographic evidence here!!
-
Yep, with you on this. Had a VM as I wanted to try out fretless. Didn't get to try one first but played a few CV's - loved them all but was ultimately disappointed with the VM (liked fretless so much I've got a Shuker 5 string now)!
-
Another very happy BX500 user (and responsible for Bensabre getting one)
Agreed, Carvin need to up there public relations a bit me thinks. Incidentally i have a Carvin 2x10 and it is brilliant and light.
Not sure it is the public relations so much as the availablility - no major distributor behind them flogging them at low margins to every job lot merchant in the country, leaving it down to Phil and the guys at BassGear to give us all great service and a really nicely priced piece of kit!
IIRC, my school had an old Grant Jazz copy and a generic cheapy brand P copy. They weren't great, but they worked. I always wished they would get a double bass, as I really wanted to play double bass at the time but my family could never afford one. There was also one of those wretched Carlsbro Stingray combos with the push buttons which I used to use with the school big band. The thing which used to really break my heart was the stack of interesting but unused older equipment in a corner, which included a couple of valve amps (one was a Selmer T&B ), a Logan String machine keyboard and worst of all, a Rhodes Suitcase piano, which they never took the lid off in the whole six years I was there...
Pretty sure we had a couple of valve amps that would get people all a quiver nowadays! Some huge cabs as well, no idea now what they were.
