1. Sold my lovely Ashdown LB30 to Carl a while back. A pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
2. Hello Si Can you use this pedal to switch between two instruments into the same amp? cheers Gareth
3. Why would you want to do this, effectively making your bass a giant mandolin?! I can understand the lower tuning, but why in 5ths? The patterns you're used to will all go out the window.
4. Pete Academy uses two in his band.
5. Cold Chisel's Ian Moss does the business on this track by the Black Sorrows. Great song, band, and solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgRPaQoawIs
6.
Spill the beans, how do you get the MB badge off? It appears to be stuck on, extremely well on mine?
I just prised it off, took the grille off the head and pushed from behind with a screwdriver. Came away easily.
7.
I like it but I'm not 100% sold on relic basses...but I could be swayed.
I know what you mean. That said, my VT% is going to be aged, just because it's almost a trademark of what Sandberg is (i.e. a nice shiny new Sandberg looks weird!)
8. For your consideration, just in at Bass Direct....
9. Hello, and welcome!
Options are 550 touring combo 2X10 550 watt (spyder) or the MAG 300 2X10 300 watt combo.
Of those two, the Sypder 550 wins hands down. No contest.
10. Dave bought two valves from me. Quite a small transaction but handled with the minimum of fuss: great communication, fast payment. I would be delighted to deal with Dave again.
11. I don't have one yet, but a VT5 will be winging its way to me when it's finished in November In the meantime, I'm sure TRBboy will be along to give you all the skinny....
12. Personally, I don't like it. If you are going to relic, I prefer the subtle look...
13. Had hoped to attend, but as my daughter is swimming in her first national champiosnhip that day I think I'd better attend that instead!
14.
Can you tell me more about that bass Walbassist? I guess it's pre-CBS, Don't think I have seen one with those type knobs, only the old stack knob Jazz's? I have a spare set of covers lying around, looking at yours make me want to put them on my CIJ P fretless.
Without wishing to hijack Nick's thread, it's actually a 1970, which is the first year they made fretless basses. Clarky is correct that the bass had a P Retro fitted when I took this photo, but I have since sourced a set of orginal pots, so it's now back to stock. Cheers Gareth
15. Hi, is this still available?
16. +1 to that. Big fan of the fretless P myself.....
17. Hi Dave I'm glad my video was a help! I have two Mullard 82s from the 80s that you could have, also a nice Brimar and a JAN-GE from the US. Also have two sets of EL84s if you fancy beefing up the power section - a set of vintage Sovteks and a set of vintage Philips. Drop me a PM if you would like any? Cheers Gareth
18. HI there Marc is correct, the two preamp valves are the ones to the left as you look at the amp from the front. I fitted two NOS Mullard ECC81s, giving about 60% of the standard ECC83's gain, that cleaned up the sound up perfectly for me. Ashdown recommend an ECC82 as the driver. I have a number of NOS valves that I bought for my LB30 if you fancy buying them off me Cheers Gareth
19.
I had a brief go on this at [s]Nick[/s]Dave's once, lovely bass
20.
It seems the Spyder has a surprisingly pleasant amount fo clarity and warmth from what I've heard
Yep that's it. Clean, yet warmer than the ABM I used. Also, to my ears, it just had more presence in the live mix. Band preferred it too.
21. I owned both in quick succession, and much preferred the Spyder's core tone.
22.
If I can get one at the right price I probably will.
How about this, a rack mount UK made one?
23. The Spyder is a great head, why not pick up another?
24.
Love the sound of the bass Gareth, Does the bass have any side position markers at all, Lines or dots.
Thanks! Side dots only, at the "fret" position.
