Yes, I like that. If it comes in sub £100 it could be popular. Product page here
Gareth, Thanks very much for the pics and input. Much appreciated. There seems to be a clearer picture emerging of what and where the tweaks need to be. 1. One inch narrower at the shoulder. 2. Scoop out a little at the inside at the neck, possibly. 3. Narrow the strap down as we head down the back, to take out the slack. Karl
My pleasure Karl, and thanks again for letting us test it. I agree those changes would be the ones needed.

So, here's my thoughts.... Beautifully made from top quality, soft leather. Clearly a high quality, hand-made product. It was perfect over the shoulder and made my already lightweight basses feel like they weren't there. I would imagine for heavy basses it would be terrific. I agree that it's too wide though. I'd slim it a touch on the neck side, and quite a lot on the other, as there's a big gap between the outer side of the strap and your back as it runs across the back. Thanks for letting us test the strap, Karl, and I'd be tempted by a couple of simple single strips of leather cut to my chosen length. In the post to ead today, 1st class recorded. Cheers Gareth

Action for slapping -how low/high do you like it?
franzbassist posted a topic in EUB and Double Bass
Hello all I've been playing pizz for about 4 years now on my BSX and am very comfortable with an action of around 7-8mm at the end of the fingerboard. However, as I am starting to play quite a lot of rockabilly I'm not sure this is adequate, as I struggle to play cleanly and miss the strings when playing at pace in a band setting, so..... I ask my BC brothers and sisters, what's a "typical" action for slappin'? As the BSX is easy to adjust I could just play around, and probably will anyway, but I am curious to know what others go for. Oh, I've got Silver Slaps on the bass, for info. Thanks Gareth -
Sold a set of strings to Gavin and it was as smooth a transaction as our last. He's a 100% top geezer.

Received, and ready for road testing!

I'm just happy that she's out playing live...

If it's this bass, then it's from 2004-2005. I would imagine this became what is now the American Standard?
Oldies but goodies! I've been a fan of Judie Tzuke since around the same time, and always go to the shows when she tours, and it's become a very personal thing between her and the fans - she pops up and asks for suggestions for new venues, and people suggest them, and they happen - she's been doing a song club for ages where we cough up for the CD price, and then she sends them out as downloads as they are recorded which is a great idea.
She's another favourite of mine too!

I'd go in an instant if someone offered me a spare ticket. While I loved some of her early material, I much prefer the more recent stuff such as "A Sky of Honey" (especially "Sunset" and "Nocturn") and the first four songs of "50 words" plus "Among Angels". I find her work totally immersive.

I really do love this bass, but I don't play it enough to warrant keeping it so am looking to sell/trade it for a cheaper 4 string. https://www.youtube....h?v=Re3pmUR6Oxs Removable neck, which is also easily adjusted for action. Bartolini 3 band EQ with piezo pickup. Currently strung with Silver Slaps. It's in good condition, a few bumps here and there but nothing major. Gig bag is included. £2149 new in the UK, I am looking for £[s]1800 1600 1400[/s] 1200 collected from Central London or NE Hampshire. I have nothing suitable in which I could post it. Trades: NS NXT 4 / Bergantino NV115 or HD112 / Fender fretless Precision thanks Gareth
Can you remember roughly when you got them?
Edit: I found the email from Tony. Definitely November 2010.
It turns out that we don't make a B for the silver slaps, so I can only guess that Tony, the old chief tech at the factory made them as specials (in which case they would have been a "best guess" experiment) Perhaps walbassist could confirm? That said, I'll see if we can find the formula in his old note books, in which case we might be able to sort something.... Otherwise, I'll add it to my list and try and come up with a new formula for you asap...
Yes, Tony made me two to try out, each slightly different from t'other. I am inclined, therefore, to send fretmeister the one I've been using for a while and pop the new one on, so I can try them both. He labelled one "No 1" and one "No 2", so if Daf finds the formula we can tell which is which.

Glad I spotted this. I have a spare you can have. Fire me over your address via PM and I'll get it out to you. Edit: It's a full 4/4 length, will that fit?

I bought this bass earlier in the year. It's beautifully put together and in fantastic condition, weighs just 7 3/4 lbs and is a joy to play, but I have decided to get another fretless Precision. Lovely figured maple 34" scale neck with rosewood board Mahogany hollow body, walnut and flame maple top Rosewood "floating" bridge Delano Xtender pickup 3 band active EQ with passive option Generic Fender gig bag I've added Dunlop straplocks and fitted La Bella white nylon strings to it since these stock pictures were taken. I'm looking for £1200 firm collected from Central London or NE Hampshire. Willing to post at your cost. Trades: A fretless Precision, Bergantino 112 (ideally an HD) or NV115 Cheers Gareth

Happy to cover signed for postage after it gets to me, and post pix too!

I'd love to try this out too.

Fender USA Special P/J or USA G&L SB-1? Decisions...
franzbassist replied to solo4652's topic in Bass Guitars
My American Special P is, hands down, the best Fender I have ever played. I would imagine this bass would be terrific
