I gave my new S112 a good workout this weekend and I am very impressed. I'm struck by the decent amount of low end, good projection, and how well it takes EQ too. And the I paired it with the 1156! Very happy

There can't be too many off the peg choices for a 5 string P, but if I had my choice I'd say mint green or possibly parchment on that lovely.

I returned a defective bass recently, so that cost me nothing (other than the £40 I lost on the exchange rate!), but if you are simply returning because you are unhappy I assume it will cost the full price of your courier of choice, or perhaps a fixed charge if Thomann arrange it.

Martin Turner's tone on Wishbone Ash's "Argus" is pretty lush.

If you can find one, the American Special Precision from 2012 was a very fetching, and quite similar, honeyburst.

Hipshot tuners have a higher gear ratio than the stock tuners, so you get where you need to be much more quickly, plus the quality is way better.

I swapped out the standard tuners on my American Special for Hipshots, much more accuare when dialling in that final cent to hit the note. I am thinking of changing the bridge too, only because the G and E strings suffer from the sideways slippage mentioned above. The Hipshot Vintage bridge should solve the problem with the minimum of change and fuss.

Thanks guys, I may just stick with the current setup but change to Psycho Slap D and Gs.

I've owned some really nice stuff over the years, but my current rig is the best I've had by some distance. You can't get a bad sound out of the Demeter head, and the TKS 1156 cab in particular is terrific.

Hello all I have used Innovation Silver Slaps on my BSX since I bought it some five years ago. I like them a lot, but I fancy trying something else and was wondering what's out there in terms of low tension strings? I also fancy something a little thicker, gauge-wise, on the D and G strings. The BSX has a piezo that allows for adjustments to the volume of each string, so I could even mix and matchbrands if I wanted. The bass is a 5 string too, and I am tempted to go EADGC rather than the current BEADG, so a nice low tension C suggestion would be good! Cheers Gareth

I had a similar experience when picking a FSR PJ bass. When I sent a general email asking if they would be able to pick me out a specific weight they said no, but when I ordered and asked again they sais no problem, so I guess money talks?

Looks like the Denon HiFi amp I had in the 1980s! I'm sure it's great though.
