1. With a capo at the first fret, I aim for 2.5mm on the E and 1.5mm at the G. These measurements are taken with a gap of .25mm at the 9th fret when pressing the string at the first and last frets.
2. And mine are "loaded for delivery", so Monday now (they are being delivered to work).
3. Hi guys After a it of googling, it looks like a lower gain valve in V2 will reduce the gain in the drive channel of the Fender Blues Deluxe. Can anyone confirm? Thanks Gareth
4. Do you ever make it down south? I have an Allegro you can try if so.
5. I have two items currently on order with Thomann. Their site says both items shipped Monday evening, but no tracking details at all on their site so I had to email them for an update. Thomann are under the impression my items have shipped, but the DHL site just says "The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically", so who knows where they are at the moment!
6. How cheap are you talking then?
7. How about WD music from these guys? Official Fender necks are £199 for the Mex neck, easily available off eBay.
8. Having over-extended the finances I need to let this go without even using it... the fantastic Providence Dual Bass Station. It's brand new, never used, and comes with a UK power supply. Good review here: https://www.youtube....h?v=KJJJ-RFOp-I These are £300 new in the UK, so get a brand new one for 15% off. Cheers Gareth
9. Ah, what an amp This was a terrific bit of kit and Mert is a pleasure to deal with. Great choice for someone....
10. I was going to say Tonebone PZ-Pre, until I saw you wanted rack mount.... http://www.tonebone.com/pzpre-features.php
11. My year of birth bass, right there
12. I really do love this bass, my BSX Allegro, but I have decided to switch to a 4 string. https://www.youtube....h?v=Re3pmUR6Oxs Removable neck, which is also easily adjusted for action. Bartolini 3 band EQ with piezo pickup. Currently strung with Silver Slaps. It's in very good condition for an 11 year old bass, a few very small bumps here and there, but nothing major. The worst damage is a dent in the reinforced plastic base near the end pin. Original TKL gig bag is included. £2149 new in the UK, I am looking for a firm £1200, collected from Central London or NE Hampshire. I'm afraid I have nothing suitable in which I could post it, so please don't ask. Thanks Gareth
13. Very nice Michael. I am about to order a vertical S112 to use for small gigs and rehearsals, which will make a nice compliment to my amazing 1156
14. Yes, the Orchid is pretty tempting at that price
15. Thanks, one and all, for the replies. I don't need any tone shaping, so it's purely what's best to use running from the "preamp out" or "effects send" of my amp. Looks like the Radial ProDI is a front runner.
16. Hello all I'd like to invest in a DI, so that on the rare occasion I need to go through a PA, I can send a signal to the desk using the "preamp out" on the back of my amp. Any recommendations? Thanks Gareth
17.
They look like the Berg ones from the pics.
They are well made from a nice thick materal. Perhaps not quite as good as the Bergs in my opinion, but not off by much. Should last years...
18. Love these cabs. That's a good price too.
19. Bargainalicous deal for a terrific amp!
20. Ronnie Lane is one of my bass playing heroes (see my avatar). Not the greatest technical player in the world, but very melodic and creative. Plus I love his solo stuff after he quit Faces - stuck two fingers up to the industry and said "I'll do it my way, thanks all the same".
21. People have been swapping necks on Ps and Js for decades. I would imagine it'd be fine, but probably best to take measurements of both before you splash the cash.
22. So, last night's gig was in a converted church. I'd played there before, so I knew it could be a difficult room, and I was a bit worried that the TKS wouldn't sound that good in there. I am pleased to say I was very wrong . A little bass and mid cut and we were away with a terrific sound, full but not boomy at all. Everyone in both my bands love this cab.
23.
No attenuator for the 6. Personally I think the balance between the drivers really works well and cutting the 6 would adversely effect the tone.
This. As I've said before, the 6" driver in these cabs is their secret weapon
