1. How about the EMG GZR?
2. Ashdown told me a couple of years ago that there was no difference between the MK and JJ versions apart from the case colour...
3. I have the Dual Bass Station by Providence, and I find it to be indispensable. Two inputs: I switch between electric and upright constantly at each gig Individual master volumes: set the basses at the same volume at the start of the gig 3 band eq with sweepable mids: leave the amp flat and eq each bass via the pedal tuner and mute: silent tuning If I was playing one bass at a gig I wouldn't bother with it, unless I wanted to set up two different core tones (e.g slap and fingerstyle), but for two basses it's the biz!
4. Thanks for the comments guys, I'm tempted to go GZR in the fretted and Aguilar in the fretless at the mo
5. Hi folks Does anyone have experience of both of these pickups? I like both from what I can hear in Youtube reviews, but I'd like a BC opinion of both if possible. I ask as my American Specials have the "American Standard Alnico Split Single-Coil" in them, which is a decent enough pickup, but I find it a touch indistinct at times. Happy to consider other pickups as well, but I want something that sounds "traditional" and had really good separation and balance between the strings. Thanks Gareth
6. I think the first year of use was 1966 and they were done for the most part by 1968. That said, I had a '71 P which had them fitted.
7. I sold a gig bag to Etienne. It was a terrific transaction with prompt email communication and immediate payment. A pleasure to deal with
8.
A killer bass for the money even when stock. B-)
Tidy
9.
Is this the one made from brass? If so is that just the saddles? How much is the postage per chance?
The hipshot site says it's made of brass, so I assume that means the base plate and saddles. Buyers contribution to postage would be £3. Thanks
10. I used my LB30 into Ashdown Classic Neo 2x10 and 1x15s in a Jam tribute band for a while and it was more than capable.

I sharpied the top of one pedal and it dispered the light out really well to the side, so this would be my way to go.
12.
I mean the bit the string wraps around... it probably has a name ("capstan" possibly?) but I don't know what it is!
Ah I see now. Yes, they are waisted indeed, just like the ones below:
13.
I can't see from the photo - but are these "waisted" or straight-sided?
Do you mean the actual tuner shaft with the paddle? If so, yes, they are waisted.
14.
Do these have the thinner necks, i.e. jazz width like ?
They are 41.3 mm wide at the nut and a slim C shape
15.
This bass is three months older than me (or at least the neck is...)
And just one month older than me! Looks fab.
16.
Where did you get your scratch plates from? I am considering swapping the bridge over. I have a gotoh 201b kicking around. Think it should swap ok.
Standard Fender 13 hole scratchplates from the US off eBay: even with postage they were cheaper than buying the equivalent in the UK! I thought about swapping the bridges too, to Hipshot Vintage, but in the end decided not to.
17. Here we have an excellent Protec Contego gigbag/semi-hard case for sale. Very light use so in very good to excellent condition. All the details are here I'm firm on £55 collected from NE Hampshire or central London (WC2), or I can post for £8 P&P. Thanks Gareth
18. That's a great looking bass! Good score I am a huge fan of these basses. Mine are the 2012 honeyburst models with two piece alder bodies, 8.5lbs each. As you say, the necks are fantastic. I had one converted to fretless by Book Guitars in Devon. I've swapped the scratchplates and added thumb rests, and both basses have upgraded Hipshot tuners.
