6 string bass. I've got one, an old Ibby BTB that I picked up for <£100 because it looks like it's been dragged across a field. I never play it. Can't even remember the last time I picked it up, IIRC the last time I did I found that the actives had packed up. The only piece of music I have ever written was on a six and I think in a way that's the only reason I keep this one... because without a 6, I can't play it. But I never do anyway. My head is a weird place sometimes.

Warning.... Kappalite 3015 NOT designed for Bass!

When I was car shopping I had to strike the utterly gorgeous Giulia off my list because the boot aperture was 1/2" too small to get my cab in. I nearly cried. -
@Frank Blank, we will miss you at the Bash. Our long distance Brother In Crumble. Why you giving up, if you don't mind me asking?

My 1st choice would be PA. It's a real black art and something I'd like to know more about. UPDATED LIST: @scrumpymike - everything he owns unless he sells it between now and then @Rich - Shuker 5-string, OLP/Jaydee fretless 'Ray, Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2, Barefaced Super 12T cab. @Kateplaysbass - Ashdown CTM-100 and LB212, Pawn Shop Mustang, medium scale ACG Finn, and maybe also ACG Recurve and Bass Collection 5 string fretless, since I'm thinking about offloading both of those @Woodinblack - Bongo, just to wind people up @Frank Blank - Short scale Jabba_the_gut fretted and fretless basses, QSC K12.2, Grace Design Alix. @Richard R - Brawley 5 string, as usual, HB 5 String thing with Roland hex pickup and V-bass COSM synth. @BreadBin - something interesting @chyc - a very nice double bass, an Ashbory Bass, GSS 06B400MKD combo, and possibly Warwick Streamer fretless, Sandberg Custom 5 with Delano XTender, Sandberg TT Marcus Miller rip-off, BC 110T cabinet, BC 112mk3 cabinet, Acoustic Image Coda @TRBboy - Frost Custom Basses PJ5 (my first build from scratch), Sandberg California TT5 Passive, possibly my customised Yamaha BBN5, Markbass Stu Amp 1000w, GR Bass GR 410+ (1200w, 4 ohm), a fairly unexciting pedal board 😅, & converted Trace 1x15" cab, if it's in a satisfactory state by then

I'm not a guitarist, not even slightly. But if I was, there's three guitars I'd want: a beaten up old natural Tele, a Parker Fly Artist, and a D'Angelico New Yorker.

Of course, there once was a time when the obvious answer was "get thee to Wapping". Ohh, those were the days. *very wistful sigh*

OP, I don't know where you are geographically, but with that sort of hefty budget I would definitely consider a day off & a road trip to a specialist stockist such as Bass Direct or the Bass Gallery. If you can't find it in either of those places, it doesn't exist.

The Bass Show UK - Cranmore Park, Birmingham - March 1st and 2nd
Rich replied to Goliath_FX's topic in Events
We definitely need a meet-up. A formal BC presence would be really cool and I'd be up for helping out if needed. -

Yes. At last, a bass show that a} I can get to in less than half a day, and b} won't have me emptying my wallet into GWR's coffers. -
1. @scrumpymike - everything he owns unless he sells it between now and then 2. Rich - Shuker 5-string, OLP/Jaydee fretless 'Ray, Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2, Barefaced Super 12T cab. Keep it going folks

I tend to put 13A fuses in things with heating elements -- kettle, toaster, etc -- and in the plugs for extension cables, 4-ways etc. Everything else gets 3A or 5A. My Shuttle amp has a 5A I think, the wireless PSU a 3A. I recall that my old Carlsbro Delta bass amp came with a 7A slo-blo. Must have been a big ol' inrush.

I'd go to Jon Shuker and I'd say "Hello Jon, here are some biscuits**, please make me this:" Headless 5-string. 32" scale, through-neck. Neck probably a maple/wenge/flamed maple sandwich like my current Shuker. Definitely a birdseye maple board and orange side LEDs. Body shape and woods undecided***, but a chambered body for light weight. Turner MC5X Multicoil pickups with 'English Voicing', as per funkle's 'Wal-ish'. Lusithand Double NFP Special preamp, again as per @funkle's 'Wal-ish'. Basically I'd like a headless 32" Wal ** there would also be money involved. Sadly Jon doesn't make basses in exchange for Hobnobs. *** this would involve a trip into Jon's legendary Wood Store... if you know, you know

Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 noise - any recommended amp techs?
Rich replied to samuelcroberts's topic in Repairs and Technical
Likewise my Shuttle 9.2. Same problem, same solution. -
Thank you for the lecture and for pointing out my minor failings, when I have a spare moment (believe it or not, this isn't actually my day job) I'll go through and "moderate it impartially". Oh, and cheers for the suggestion that it's deliberate inequality rather than genuine error. Much appreciated. However, you've missed one important point regarding the deleting of posts: IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN NECESSARY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Hatters gonna Hat - Show us your favorite gigging hat(s)!
Rich replied to SamIAm's topic in Gear Gallery
Yeah, I might do that. Whatever happens, I'll keep the hat -- if I get a new stage one, I'll just cut all the strings off this and use it as a sun hat. If the bloody sun ever comes out, that is. -

This man was born on this day in 1908. Maybe not a familiar face, but you know his work. This is Barry Gray, the man responsible for bringing the Thunderbirds (and Stingray and Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 and UFO and all the other Gerry Anderson masterpieces) to life with his sensational music. For me, the Thunderbirds March is and always will be the finest TV theme of all time, but there are so many other superb pieces within those soundtracks. Have a listen to this, the "Thunderbirds Zero-X Theme", for another of example of his mastery. Together, he and Mr Anderson gave the young me endless hours of pure escapist joy -- and yes, the older me still loves to watch and listen to their amazing work. How I wish I could have met them both to thank them.
